05/02/2021 (23 years). *Flips hand* Oyyy dear, This was the end of an era at VCU. Being a group exercise instructor these past four years out of the five years here has been an integral part of the VCU experience. It has been one of the best, spontaneous decisions that I’ve ever made. When I came here, I had no intention of being an instructor, especially a Zumba or dance instructor. The beginning of sophomore year, I saw that there was a free prep course for being an instructor, so I thought “why not? It’s free, exercise is my love, and I enjoy motivating.” Took the course and chose Zumba as the format I wanted to teach. I had no Zumba or dance experience, but I heard that we get to shake our hips and I love shaking my hips... This was my first job and this team has been one of a kind, composed of true individuals that we can learn a lot from. You all inspire me in your own ways. Thank you all and to RecSports/Cary St gym for being a home these past four years as an instructor and five years as a student. I love you. VCU Group Ex for life. ❤️ As always, remember, just live. The flower rewards the bee with nectar as the bee transfers pollen from flower to flower; pollinating them, aiding in their reproduction/evolution. The bee and flower develop a mutual relationship that not only serves themselves, but the entire planet. We and other animals get to enjoy flowers and plants for company, viewing pleasure, habitat, medicine, food, and more. We are also like the bee. Our small, daily actions can expand beyond just us. In this doing emphasized society, it may seem like we hardly have time just for ourselves. However, it is our job to make the time. Are we spending time on/doing unnecessary things? Are we hanging out with people that we are not meant to be with to “fit in” and avoid being lonely? Are we over consuming content/information that does not bring us value? There can be many factors, but I see that when we can coexist with ourselves and prioritize what matters to us, by listening to our heart, there is more potential to relax. I have noticed periods where I want to have active thinking sessions and periods where I just want to be in a purely aware state. Active thinking meaning intentionally engaging in thinking, while pure awareness meaning a state of just “being there.” This can be referred to as the on and off switch of the mind. Active thinking mode is available when we need it, and when we don’t, we have our default, awareness mode. If anyone has experienced the same, let me know. 03/31/2021 (freshly 23 years). *Flips hand* Oyyy dear, Taken after waking up. 138 pounds of Ayush. I’ve been reflecting and asking myself why have I not been sharing ALL of my being in the past... It doesn’t make sense to me to only express one or a couple aspects of our being, because that’s not what we are... We are not one dimensional, but multi dimensional beings. Being human is a privilege. We are the most conscious and creative species that we know of. We have so much potential, why limit ourselves by confining our being to just one thing? Our human potential has to be fulfilled in our own ways; it’s the core reason why we do what we do. It’s part of our primal instinct that has kept us surviving all these years. Our humanness should be appreciated and acknowledged, not taken for granted. To me, we are here to evolve ourselves, each other, and make it comfortable for other species/the planet to thrive as well. Let’s do our part as humans and be what we are 👊.
