OC test:Speech!

[everyone shall be put in front of crowd and say something. Think of it like rallying troops, orientation, declaring war, whatever. The crowd is 500 strong.]

All the characters stand on a stage, overlooking the wave of people. Jacquelyn stands behind a podium with a microphone while everyone waits their turn.

Jacquelyn:Ummmm, sup? Not much for speeches so I’ll keep this brief. I don’t know what problems you all have, your background, or where you’re heading. What I do know is I’m down to listen to all of it. A traveler loves a good story, so make it your best.

The crowd of people seem a bit caught off gaurd, yet enlightened. They lightly clap and nod as she bows before letting Sienna take the spotlight.

Jacquelyn:Good luck!

Sienna:(How the hell do I follow that up!?)

Sienna:*clears throat* Yo, my name is Sienna Frost. The lovely lady before me was my mother if anyone was wondering. I might have two sets of ears but I assure you, story time isn’t my favorite thing. You wanna show me who you are, then do it instead. As far as mine goes, don’t worry where I’ve been. Just watch where I’m headed. I just might surprise you.

She held up a peace sign and made her exit, leaving the crowd with nothing to say. It would’ve felt like going against her words. Jael came up next. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. The girl chose to back away then began to float up to draw everyone’s direction.

Jael:Remember, on the ground or in the air, look up to me.

That’s all she said before leaving. All the characters were absolutely stunned. Even Carmine. She was sure she’d be the only one to say something wild. Yujin awkwardly walked up next. People immediately started to smile and seem pleasantly surprised.

Yujin:By the looks of some of you, I take it you see my mother’s face in me? That’s fine, it’ll make this easier. Yujin Xiao Long, the girl that’ll be in future text books. Until then, watch me do my thang!

She gave the crowd a prideful smile and a fist bump into the air to hype them up. The crowd did it back and cheered. Tenzen used that energy and added it to his own charisma, choosing to stand on the podium.

Tenzen:Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about. Those with heart of fire and wild dreams, stick around! We’ll have the time of our lives! Never stop doing what you want!

The crowd got even more hyped as him and Yujin high fived before running off stage into the crowd itself. Everybody was given a high five and watched both leave as they laughed. Nick was next to go up. To get their attention, Nick made a glyph in the sky that made it snow. A quick change in the crowds attitude was immediately noticed as they stared at the dignified young man show his usual charming smile and kind eyes that made the women blush and most of the men jealous.

Nick:Good evening, I’m glad to see everyone so lively. As heir to a company you would think I’d be good a speeches. To be honest, I’m panicking inside right now. I made it snow, who just does that!?

The question got the crowd to laugh a little. Jealous faces unknowingly got a little softer.

Nick:Anyways, I just wanna tell everyone here that no matter the situation, lean on me. If not, then those you care about and have better spending habits. Hehe, I think I’ve said enough. Thanks and I hope you all have a good time listening to everyone else.

Crowd:(He’s so polite...)

Snowflakes crew:(There he goes, charming the masses like usual.)

Summer walked up next. Much like her twin brother, a glyph formed in her hand that quickly mixed with fire dust in her clothing. The warm of brace of embers flew out of it like a flicker camp fire that was drawn toward the snow. The gentle blend of fire and iced danced in air around the crowd, leaving them amazed. Summer was no stranger to a crowd or a stage. This might be her easiest test yet. The girl sung a simple word that enchanted everyone like a siren spell. “Mirror~”

Summer:I hope you all enjoyed that little tease. I typically like to warm my voice before addressing an audience so I though of that on the fly. Anyways-

The crowd interrupted her with applause. She hadn’t even spoken what was on her mind and they were hooked! Summer chose to accept it and made her way off the stage. It was even easier than she thought. She turned to Veronica and stuck her tongue out. The faunus responsed by flipping her off and walking away.

Eliza:You’re not making a speech?

Veronica:No, I hate people and do this sort of thing too much. I’m goons go draw or some shit. (Summer can’t say she had a better speech if I never do one.)

Valerie:Wait, this is optional? Guess I’ll leave too.

Eliza:At least day a sentence you two!

Both girls rolled their eyes and walked up together.

Veronica:Sometimes being the change you want and the change the world needs are two different things entirely; acknowledge way and take the step forward, not backwards.

Valerie:A jack of all trades is an ace to no one. Not that it’s a bad thing. Just find the other playing card.

The girls waved to the crowd and went off. Valerie started thinking, which card was she? Nick clapped for the two of them like he always does. Eliza took the opportunity to step forward. A snap of her fingers negated all the semblances still at play. Eliza took a running start to hop off the stage and land with a mighty thump that started a wave of sprouting flowers. This was beginning to be more of a talent show then a public speaking test. What was once winter had turned into spring!

Eliza:Sorry, but I think being eye level and warm with you all is far more appealing. I doubt many of you have heard of the a Marigolds but that’s fine. All you have to know is I’m the one who will elevate their status. Playing nice with others isn’t my strongest quality but fairness is. If by any miracle fate comes to join us together for a purpose, I promise I’ll stand by to the very end and pull out all the stops. I simply ask to put in all the effort you can as well.

A gust of wind came by and swept petals into the air as Eliza did a curtsy. As far as theatrics go, it was show, but more than that. It was the truth. A fair and honest truth. Like a gentle breeze on a spring day. Sparrow stood up to go next.

Sparrow:I....do not care about outcomes.

Crowd:.....What?

OCs:Yeah, what?

Sparrow:Good, bad, surprising, or boring; those concepts don’t apply whenever I’m sailing across the seas with passengers and crew mates. Everything that happens is apart of epic journey. Now I’m not gonna stand here and act like I’m anything special, because I’m not. All the same I am a captain and a damn good one at that. For those who passing through life with ambition in their hearts and freedom through their veins, sail with me. You might just be surprised. Thank you for your time.

The ex-military man put on his captain’s hat and walked away, never looking back at the crowds faces. All he heard were the footsteps of those who dared to follow him. The allure of his words reached some of the young men and women. 500 became 450. Kovu felt nervous, but a bit more confident as he went up to go next. All the women, children, sons and daughters, he looked at them in a different light because of Sparrow.

Kovu:Before Sparrow went up here I had the idea of talking about my family and how they motivate me to do my best. While that is true, now I can’t help but sing a different tune. This isn’t my first time with a microphone in front of my face and it probably won’t be the last. It’s what happens when you’re a Belladonna and your other mom is a top rate huntress. Still, it doesn’t feel real that I should get a microphone and a podium because of that; I’m just a regular guy. Being down there feels more comfortable to me than being up here ever will. Average strength, intelligence, normal qualities, but I guess that last one is debatable.

Carmine:Yeah, you dork!

The crowd and Kovu chuckled at the call out. Carmine didn’t know people too well, but she knew Kovu well enough to know when he’s being hard on himself. She spoke up more for his benefit than anybody else.

Kovu:The point is I’m stunned that despite me just being some normal person, I’m very thankful for the fact that you all stand before me to listen. That’s what motivates me most. Thanks, I’ll keep doing my best.

The crowd happily applauded for him. No fancy tricks or even something to leave the biggest impression. Just a boy who made a speech. On a stage full of giants in their own right, having Kovu being so relatable was a breath of fresh air in its own way. Carmine gave him a thumbs up and finally stepped forward. She ignored the podium entirely, choosing to project her voice to all who looked. The commanding yet calm presence she gave off was already at play.

Carmine: Once upon a time my mother Ruby Rose saved the world. She did it with strength, intelligence, and kindness above all. Her dream to protect others fueled her keep striving towards a happy ending. That same compassion wasn’t paid forward unfortunately and my mother suffered a loss some time later that nearly broke her. My mother wasn’t a very religious person until that incident from what people tell me, but it helped give her peace of my. Everyday she prayed to her god for the strength to press and breathe new life into her symbolically. Until one day it became literal. She asked her god for strength and he gave her me. I’m hopes and dreams given flesh. Not just hers, but I’m yours too. *points to the crowd* To all of you good people wanting peace and needing a defender of your normal life, pick whatever god you worship and thank him for me. To those who decide to rot the world they live in with hate and malice, choose a god and make your peace when you meet me. My name is Carmine Arc Rose, the greatest huntress, no, the greatest huntsman in general to ever walk Remnant. I’ll move forward first to keep you all safe. See you at the finish line, eventually.

Her body faded away into rose petals that were carried into the wind. She was never there to begin with. Carmine had more important things to do. The crowd once again fell silent as the petals kept scattering. All the other testers were at a loss for words themselves, except Kovu.

Kovu:Oh boy, as blunt as ever. To think she’d declare her standing among them like that? She might’ve just told them out right how far away they are compared to her.

Yujin:That was badass!

Sienna:More like cocky. She said she’s the greatest huntsman ever. What does that make her mom?

Kovu:The greatest hero. There’s a difference between the two in Carmine’s eyes. Try not to bring it up though. It’s a can of worms she won’t answer. Ruby is no doubt a Great huntsman but....Carmine has feelings about that title.

A petal gently fell into his hand before taking flight again. Aero still silently resting in the question tree with Carmine sleeping under it. Her little brother fast asleep in her lap. An exceptional huntsman yes, but an even better big sister.

Oh buddy umm, let’s say I meet Changkyun imma let this cutie know how much I love his talented and handsome self and that he’s loved very much yes yes.

2) What’s your favourite instrument to play or listen to being played?

Since I can’t play any, I love listening to piano (specifically a certain someone play). Very soothing

3) One thing on your bucket list?

Right this is gonna sound so basic but whatever XD Definitely wanna travel the world, see new places and experience new cultures and cuisines.

Marc Olivier Frollo (father): Claude remebers very little of his father, his death happened so long ago. What he does remember he holds onto dearly, for it is the love he rememered his father having for him that he keeps selfishly for himself. He has fragmentary memories of helping his father on their quaint little farm, the French countryside rolling around him. He remebers gentle hands and a humble smile, dirt-caked fingernails and a deep, soothing voice...though he knows very little of him, Claude mises what he remebers. Amélie Frollo ( neé Duchesneau) (mother): What Claude remenbers of his mother is a sweet voice and soft hands, a warm home and a full table. Though they were not the most well-off Amélie always made sure her son had food in his belly. Laurent (ward of): Claude’s meories of Laurent are the ones that overrid everything else. The man was a walking demon in Claude’s life, a gaping hole so wide that left him paralized with fear, regret, and so much anger he could choke on it. It was because of this man that Claude’s life had been so altered and it largely because of him that the priest found himself in Swynlake in the first place.

Happiest memory: Playing with the family dog in the hills just outside the family farm.

Childhood trauma: Laurent’s physical, mental, and sexual abuse.

Distinguishing facial features: Claude has his mother’s eyes, or so he has been told. They are a striking blue and stand out rather starkly against his fair complexion.

Usual hairstyle: Cut short usually though if it is a bit longer he finger-combs it back

Style of dress/typical outfit(s): When he isn’t wearing his priest’s garb, Claude can be found rather casual in jeans, t-shirts, and sweaters. He prefers comfort over extravagance unless it is absolutely required of him.

Typical style of shoes: Nice dress shoes when preaching but otherwise he can be found barefoot (at home) or in tennis shoes/boots, depending on the weather.

Health (is this person usually sick? or very resilient?): Claude was a rather sickly child. Perhaps this was due to a natural disposition (as many believed) but the boy knew it was primarily because of the magic that weakened his immune system. Under Laurent’s “care” it was primarily due to the neglect and abuse that he was subjected to. However, as an adult, Claude rarely gets sick, as long as he sleeps and eats enough.

Grooming (does she/he wear makeup? shower daily? wear only clean clothes? pluck his/her eyebrows?): Claude has to keep up an appearance of cool, calm and collected so he is incredibly meticulous about his grooming habits. Part of this is his constant need to please, which stems primarily from the abuse he sustained at the hands of Laurent. Being belittled, struck, or starved when he was not in complete compliance with the deacon left an impression. In all of this, to say Claude doesn’t mind being dirty is an understatement. Occasionally, he can be found elbow deep in dirt out back and not care. Occasionally, he lets himself sleep in and not worry about the fact that he has to have perfectly quaffed hair and a collar buttoned up all the way to his chin.

Jewelry? Tattoos? Piercings?: HAHAHAA yes ok so he has them. Two very large ones in fact. A chest tattoo, that extends over his right shoulder to about his elbow, of an angel. She looks down and her wings are folded behind her. Though many assume it to be just a religious symbol it is also more than that, personal. The angel is meant to represent his mother. It was done in an act of defiance while he was in law school. His second, though smaller, resembles a mix of this picture: the cross on his left forearm, twisted around with thorns and an olive branch running up the “stem” of the cross. That one is more just because he liked it. And he used to have a piercing but he took that out after passing the bar, though he’s considered putting it back.

Accent?: Super French. I kinda imagine this but softer? Idk he’s adorable love him

Unique mannerisms/physical habits: When he’s nervous or unsure, Claude tends to rub the back of his head or neck or, occasionally, his throat. It is not so much a comfort thing as it is a habit. When he’s thinking he chews on his bottom lip or whistles between his front teeth.

Athletic: Uh he exercises if that’s what you’re asking? Occasionally he will play games with the children after church.

INTELLECT:

Level of education: A bachelor’s degree in pre-law (or whatever the equivalent of this is in France). He also passed the (French equivalent) of the bar exam and is technically a lawyer alongside his seminary schooling that was done.

Level of self-esteem: Claude is much more confident than he was in France. Though he won’t say it, I equate it to the absence of Laurent in his life. However, he is still pretty soft-spoken and can doubt his motives, opinions, or ideas when he is feeling down.

Gifts/talents: Claude is a gifted orator and people flock to him to listen to what he has to say, despite the fact that he often does not go looking for this. He is also rather adept at playing the organ (cathedral organs ftw) and that translates over to knowing how to play the piano relatively well, too, though that took more practice bc it is different.

Shortcomings: Claude is incredibly hard on himself. Again, this stems from Laurent the demon deacon.

Style of speech (loud, mumbler, articulate, etc.): Claude’s words are pretty easy to understand because he has to speak clearly and concisely for both of his professions. His accent is light but not too bad.

Life goals: Claude wants to be a good man, he does. But he also has his secrets and he has to get by them. He is a sinful man and, for a priest, that is not a good thing. I also want him to be comfortable using his degree as a lawyer to bail out Roscoe from jail probs his advantage/as another career option.

Dreams: Claude has always wished to own property out in the countryside. He enjoys the quiet and the solitude. He had always dreamed of buying his family property back from the church but that has yet to happen and may never because he doesn’t dare show his face in France again, not after Laurent.

Greatest fears: Someone digging Laurent out of his past. Or, better yet, Laurent not being dead.

Most ashamed of: Not being strong enough to stop the things Laurent did.

Compulsions: Claude occasionally has urges to harm people, irrationally, or to try on feminine articles of clothing. This is attributed to his personalities ghosting over into his dominant persona.

Obsessions: Claude himself is not obsessed with anything but Arnaud is obsessed with the Romani dancer from France and anyone who looks like them.

Secret hobbies: Claude enjoys hiking and rock climbing and if he could do them often he would.

Secret skills: He can tie the stem of a cherry with his tongue haha ok ok seriously ummmm I think he can whittle. Or he used to draw. He didn’t have much free time outside of the church as a kid so he learned to do things.

Crimes committed (and was he/she caught? charged?): Technically Claude murdered Laurent but he doesn’t remember doing it, just finding him, but he can put two and two together. He suspects that much of the old congregation may have caught on so he could technically be a wanted man rn.

What he/she most wants to change about his/her current life: He has waffled back and forth about whether or not to use his law degree or not.

Do you have your ears pierced more than once? Yeah; I have two in my earlobes and my right tragus pierced. I used to have a cartilage and anti-tragus piercing, but they closed when I had to take them out at the hospital. -_- Do you use an electric toothbrush? Yep. Have you ever seen a queen bee outside its hive? I don't believe so? Have you ever used Duolingo? No. Do you think the number 13 is unlucky? No. Which Clue (or Cluedo) character is your favourite? I always played Scarlet because I thought she was pretty. Do you have any novelty ice cube trays? No. Have you ever had a bad experience meeting a bf’s/gf’s parents? No. Do you get sick of eating turkey during the holidays? I don't eat turkey because I don't like it. I have honey spiral ham instead. Have you ever danced on a table? No. Did you have a lot of fun as a little kid? Yeah. Is there someone you can talk to all day, never running out of stuff to say? Some days. Ham or turkey? Ham. You get to be in any tv series or movie. (old/new) What are you choosing? Let's seeee... maybe Wonderland! Do you meditate? No; it actually stresses me out because I can't completely clear my head. What’s your go-to song when you’re angry? "Headache" by Motionless In White is a good one. What do you think about the most? My weight, honestly. It's at least an itching thought in my head at ALL times. Just being able to feel that I'm overweight and simply glimpsing a fatty part of my body is so, so upsetting. I usually look in the mirror to see if my face is slimmer whenever I pass one, or I'll grasp a part of my body to just feel if I've lost weight there. I could really go on and on about this, but I'd rather not, given it's depressing me talking about it. Have you ever visited any celebrity gravesites? No. How do you feel about archaeology? It's extremely fascinating to me. Any animals whose behaviors you find particularly interesting? ALL animals! Meerkats, however, quite obviously top my list. I love love love social animals, and their behaviors and deep connections remind me of just how human animals really can be, but honestly better half the time. What are your thoughts on gun control? There MUST be reform. I don't think entirely taking away the right to bear arms is the answer, but there needs, needs, NEEDS to be some serious tidying up regarding it. I believe it should be much more difficult to legally obtain a firearm with very extensive background checks and things of the like. I firmly do believe it would help SOME to prevent gun violence. Nothing is ever going to completely stop it unless firearms just cease to exist, but anything that helps reduce it is worth it. Would you have a big cat (like a tiger) for a pet if you could? Absolutely not. Big cats are extremely dangerous with strong hunting instincts, and besides putting my life at risk, I am not forcing a large animal into a small space. Do you like animals better than most humans? Sure as hell do. What simple things in life bring you the most joy? Hearing birds chirping in the morning, crickets and toads at night, starting my soda for the day (rip), watching snow fall, feeling a cool breeze on a nice day with the windows open, my pets wanting to cuddle... just to name a few. I massively appreciate the small things, so I could make this a very long list. What are your favorite smells? Cinnamon rolls, coffee, fresh baked bread, lilac, honeysuckles, etc. Ever found anything cool at a thrift store? What was it? Yeah! I've found some dragon figurines I use for decor, but the absolute coolest has to be this shipwreck lamp that I bought. I love flea markets. How do you find new music to listen to when you want it? YouTube recommendations, usually. Do you like all those dystopian future books/movies? They're all right. If you collect anything, what is your favorite piece of that collection? I collect two types of things: meerkat-oriented and Silent Hill stuff. My favorite part of my meerkat collection is Rebel, my super cute plushy that Jason got me. I slept with it for years and even now that we're done, I still hold the little guy very dear to me. My favorite SH piece I have is a limited edition, Japanese flyer for Silent Hill: Revelation that I won in a giveaway. How did you meet your significant other (if you have one)? N/A How did you meet your best friend? Via YouTube. Your favorite place to be aside from your home? Sara's house. Do you have any favorite books you’d like to have signed by the author? It'd be dooooope if I could have Tim Clutton-Brock sign my copy of Flower's biography. Do you like any board games or card games? I mean yeah. Not a lot, but some. What is your least favorite beverage? Of the things I've tried, probably black coffee. Do you like Breaking Benjamin? I do! What kind of music do you like? Metal, rock, alternative, and indie. Do you like guys with long hair? Yes. Have you ever seen an elephant? Yes. How many people of the opposite sex have you told you loved them? One, if you mean romantically. Ever been bitten by a spider? Not to my knowledge. When you were little did you jump in puddles? Oh, absolutely. Bugs: Cool or gross. Even though I'm scared of some of them, they're certainly still cool. Well, most. Do you wear a toe ring? No, I don't find those attractive at all. Have you ever had to babysit before? Twice, even though I didn't want to. Do you actually eat your fortune cookie, if you get one? Yeah, I like 'em. What's your favorite thing about cats? I enjoy how calm and independent they are. Salt, or pepper? I like both, but I prefer to have salt. Think of an ex. What's his favorite color? Jason's were green and purple. Which is better, the taste, or smell of coffee? I only like the smell. What item appears the most in your room? Meerkat stuff. Liquid eyeliner, is good, or totally sucks? My hands are WAY too shaky for that. Has a stray dog ever tried to bite you? No. Do you currently have any bug bites? No. Do you multitask well? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Do you know what an "AMV" is? Yes, because I used to make them and am considering getting back into it. I might have as a little kid. Haha, there was one April Fool's Day that Mark sold rocks with his mustached "M" on them, and I SO wanted one. He gave all the earnings to a charity that I can't remember, so that also really made me wanna get one, but yeah, I was NOT asking Mom for even a small amount of money for a rock, haha. She woulda been so fucking confused. Do you know anyone with a lazy eye? Knew, rather. Did your parents let you have pets when you were a kid? Yes. What band was on the last band t-shirt you wore? It would depend on the person, but probably some sort of lip ring(s). What is your salad dressing of choice? Ranch, or the kind from Olive Garden. Have you ever written anything longer than 10 pages? Yes. I wrote a massive essay on toxic masculinity during my last college attempt. I got WAY more into it than I thought I would.
