The debut synth-trash “Mind Tasters Floor Wasters” LP from Kansas City, Mo’s FUTURE KILL (Big Neck Records) got the yellowgreenred.com seal of approval, with Mr. Korvette saying “The biggest reference is surely Chrome, the way in which Future Kill lock into stoner riffs and blast them to smithereens in post-production, covering everything in distortion and effects.” Yip. We’re gassed as heck to finally have copies in again of one of thee wyldest slop’n’roll collections EVER, the “The Purple Knif Show” LP by radio host supreme LUX INTERIOR. Bill Carter & The Rovin’ Gamblers – Baby Brother

There’s not much to tell about Bill Carter & “Baby Brother” certainly defies description. in 1959 country & gospel artist Bill Carter briefly embraced rockabilly by recording “Cool Tom Cat” on the Ozark & Blackjack record labels with “Baby Brother” on the flip. He was backed on both songs by the Rovin’ Gamblers.

This journey into the weird side of country music gave us the gift of a truly bizarre set to off key lap guitar telling the story of the strange behavior of a a sibling learning to swim in a goldfish bowl & flapping his arms and chasing his toy balloon into the sky. I first heard this song 15 years ago on a 1984 radio broadcast.. Turns out that someone had the brilliant foresight to slip a blank cassette in and record Lux Interior spinning his own records as a guest DJ at a local Hollywood radio station. The broadcast was released by my friends Lindsay & Inigo Munster on Munster Records as The Purple Knif Show – Radio Cramps. Another “must own” in your quest for the cool and strange.

“Baby Brother” has always impressed upon me that in 1959 you could record just about anything and get away with it.

A one-off radio program hosted by Lux Interior in 1984. That's really all I need to say for you to know that it is awesome......download it!

I can think of few meetings in my my life that were as cool and wonderful as when I met Lux and Ivy in 1998; just the kindest, sweetest...incredibly beautiful people. I will never forget Lux's smile as he met with fans. It moved me.

He's very much missed.
