This sticks in my craw a fair bit because this is who, whom all over again. The truth will set you free, but point deer make horse is an easy way to tell who is on your side and who isn't.
In both his examples, the truth is not the problem - it's the very short men, women's sexual preferences, the severely handicapped, society, and resources that matter instead. You can crow in the streets all day about the emperor having no clothes, but that doesn't make him not the emperor, and if he can execute you and yours at will, you'd be damn certain that pretty much only the suicidal would say the quiet part out loud.

Can we have a moment of silence for Sylvia, who now has an Alien living in her backyard, and a moment of triumph for Wilf, who now has an Alien living in his backyard

I LOVE how "The Nobles" are so underwhelmed by The Doctor.
Like Jackie Tyler was all "I'll defend them to the ends of the earth."
Francine Jones thought he was so dangerous she was helping the government track him down.
Everyone pretty much has stars in their eyes whenever they're with The Doctor but the Nobles?;
"Yes Millennia old alien, I know the knowledge of the universe is living in your head...but...
Rose: Why are you assuming their gender?
Sylvia: *punch in face
Shaun (seeing lord only knows what going down in his kitchen): Something smells nice!
The only exception is Wilf. You know why? Yes Wilf has stars in his eyes when he sees The Doctor but The Doctor has stars in his eyes when he looks at Wilf.

It's a question of threat assessment. You can either give the DSA-types more power, or you can give creationists and BAP/lots-of-posters-on-this-forum-style explicitly ant-meritocratic racists power.
It's not at all clear that choosing the side with DSA-types is more damaging. In the last 8 years in the US, the Democratic party in particular has done a much better job of denouncing its extremists. Just look at the most prominent recent examples: if you look at NT Times articles/their comment sections, you can see that the mainstream left's reaction to pro-Hamas protesters or the whole Claudine Gay affair has been pretty condemnatory.

i just know game night at the noble-temple-doctor’s is intense. there’s still feuds over uno matches played weeks ago. sylvia is one draw four away from slapping 14 again, donna is staring daggers at wilf who just skipped her for the 3rd time in a row, rose looks like she’s losing but her hand is full of +2’s and she’s about to rain hellfire upon shaun who is simply happy his family is having game night
