ok i dont want to maintag but just finished s4 of tdp and is it just me or was it kind of wack??? (spoilers in tags)
#like i love terry. i thought viren was pretty good. ezran was great and soren was pretty good too#but everyone else just like???? felt completely ooff#which is so weird bc i feel like this show usually has such a pulse on these characters#and as someone who didnt read any of the tie in novels i felt completely lost re: rayla and callum which is. wack.#the last ep or 2 also lost me. so much deus ex machina for no reason.#why is there a lemur.#the season is called the mystery of aaravos and yet hes barely in it#and it feels like there is hardly any payoff for anything#also i feel like they did claudia so dirty like she was such a compelling character so why did her motivations change to be completely wack#in that scene with soren#i liked the amaya and janai plot but it felt so disconnected from everything#idk man i havent rewatched it in a while but s1-3 were just. good. tight writing and characters. the humor pretty much always fell flat#but thats finr#but like. ?????#wack.#bee post#the last episode is almost comical with how many fakeouts and deus ex machina there is like im sorry but i cant take it seriously#maybe i really am too old for this. watching a show at 15 wont be the same as watching a show at 19.#but like part of why i liked tdp so much was bc it never felt like it was talking down to its audience???? it told it how it was!!#like it treated the audience like it was smart and it would catch onto nuances and here its just#cheap tropes and characters that are all over the place#am i going insane???#ok anyway give me a few days to be salty about it and then i will calm down probably

Lucifer Finale Thoughts
Okay, I've thought a lot about Lucifer s6, and overall I've been able to accept the whole time travel aspect, even if I didn't care for it. I think the writers did a great job with everyone else's storylines, I was extremely satisfied with them. That being said, I feel they kind of dropped the ball on Lucifer and Chloe's ending with the time loop. I'm a simple person. I don't think an ending has to be bittersweet or deep or whatever to simply be good.
I like the idea of Lucifer finding his true calling as Hell's therapist. I think it fits him really well. But the idea that he had to make a choice he only made because his daughter begged him and he knew he had already done it....felt so fucking tragic. This choice draws some parallels between Lucifer and God's parenting, and I don't think that's a good thing. This show has always been about choice, they even spend the last 2 eps talking about that, and Lucifer's final choice isn't one. Not really.
He straight up says that what he desires is to stay with Chloe and watch Rory grow up. And he doesn't get that. If he hadn't felt so compelled in the heat of the moment, I don't think he would have agreed. You can argue that it's because he had to make a selfless choice, but he already made that huge sacrifice in the s4 finale. (Also going back to Hell to protect humanity! For what he assumed would be millennia!) Lucifer has proven that he can be selfless, not just for those close to him, but for others. Testing him again was unnecessary.
Lucifer spends the first three seasons trying to escape his father's machinations, and two more accepting that he has more control than he thinks. But this finale completely upturned this message, to the point where I feel as though I have to erase it from my mind to enjoy the rest of the show. If this has all been God's plan - Chloe, Rory, the time loop - then what has the point of rebellion? For Lucifer, he has free will, until he doesn't.
And yes, it makes me happy to know that Lucifer and Chloe get to solve mysteries for eternity in Hell, and I guess they and Rory (Trixie???? though I know she wasn't in this season much due to covid restrictions and s5 was supposed to be the end) will get to make up for all that lost time. The thing that kills me is that you literally only live once. Yes, Lucifer found a calling, but I would say it's just as, if not more, important that he found his family. For a show that harped on a work-life balance for a whole season, Lucifer doesn't get one.
I think it would have been powerful to show Lucifer actively breaking the loop. Undoing it, at worst, means it takes Lucifer a little while longer to find his true calling. I 100% believe he would have eventually. Like, the idea of abandoning your kid so they can be angry with you and eventually travel back in time and help you realize you find your true calling seems so...over the top. Rory was already conceived, so she will still be born. Future Rory is a real person, but at the same time, she's a concept, one of a million possibilities.
When Rory begs Lucifer to leave, it felt as though it was framed for Rory to be making a big sacrifice so her Dad can have his purpose. But I would argue she isn't the one truly sacrificing - Lucifer and Chloe spend years and years apart. Chloe has to actively lie to her daughter, and while Rory doesn't know any better, it's almost blissful ignorance.
And not to be all deus-ex-machina, but Amenadiel, the former angel of TIME, is now God. Why could he not A) give everyone their time loop memories to keep so we avoided this whole kerfuffle, and/or B) changed how time works in hell, so Lucifer can come back to Earth without missing thousands of years of therapy in Hell.
Deckerstar has jumped through countless hurdles to make their relationship work, and they got...what, three months of being a real couple before being torn apart again?
To me, letting Lucifer and Chloe raise Rory and Trixie together, with them in their respective day jobs would work. In order for more souls to heal, the demons could spend time on Earth and grow a soul, as Maze did. Eventually, perhaps they, or some of Lucifer's siblings, could help him down there. Meanwhile, Chloe grows old, and maybe Lucifer self-actualizes an aging appearance too. When her time comes, they both move to Hell, and are partners til the end there. Lucifer popping back up to see Trixie and other friends left living.
This got much longer than I intended. Idk, don't get me wrong, I'm pleased with how everyone else's storyline wrapped up, and whoever decides on the music for the show deserves an Emmy. And I'm happy that Deckerstar eventually gets eternity together. But I can't shake the bitter taste of the series subverting it's core message all for the sake of a "bittersweet" and "heartfelt" finale.
And to the 95% of people who don't follow me for Lucifer, you probably haven't made it this far, but I apologize, and will be back to my regularly scheduled programming soon.

Aww man, Voltron S7. General SPOILERY observations under the cut:
- 13 EPISODES AAAAAAAAAA - I binged them all in one stretch and I’m not even sorry.
- Oh, Dreamworks. You were so close. But it still counts as Bury Your Gays if you kinda split them up before you kill one of them :’( Disappointed.
- Once I caught wind of that Shiro revelation I was really looking forward to a good feelsy reunion once they reached earth and it was totally denied. We don’t even get to know more about this relationship, or what Adam was like as a person, or how he felt after Shiro took off for that last time and then was reported dead. These missing holes are always so frustratiiiiing grrrrrrr!
- Please for the love of god now hook Shiro up with some cute garrison officer or resistance fighter between seasons. Let him rest, let him love.
- I enjoyed seeing the brotherhood between Shiro and Keith develop in ep 1, but the other revelation about Shiro being chronically ill (I feel you, bro) was really odd. I’m all for characters with chronic illnesses that they just gotta Deal With but this disease has literally never been mentioned or its impact seen ever again. Not throughout the entire season, nor ever referenced by Shiro and Keith in seasons prior. Did the galra cloning process eradicate it? Is it just gone now? All the physical stuff he’s done right up until the final episode, he still seems at pretty peak condition to me!
Of course, maybe he’s just a Chronic Illness Icon and extremely good at pretending to be abled. God knows the poor dude has got enough else going on visibly (PTSD, amputated arm . . .), maybe he just told his invisible illness to piss off and deals with it without mentioning it ever (life goals right there).
Whatever, it’s weird. Chronic illnesses are called that for a reason - pls don’t drop ‘em in and then forget they exist.
- I think that intro threw me off ‘cause the season intro felt slow to me, without providing the meaningful post-S6 character moments I think we all wanted (or I wanted?). I wanted Shiro team hugs, to hear his feelings about Kuron beyond that, granted, hilarious one liner about his evil clone, to see if HE WAS OKAY MENTALLY but, as Romelle kindly points out, we all just move on again. There were 13 eps this season, there was room for this important shit!
- Okay, I laughed a lot at the obligatory comedy episode this season. Parody!Lotor made me piss myself and I never want to see blushing Haggar again.
- Zethrid/Ezor shippers, do your thing. I was glad to see Lotor’s generals get some much needed time for their characters to shine.
- Feels latched onto me from the lost in space ep and never really let me go from there. Until that point I was feeling like I could maybe watch this season in a few sittings. But team bonding is my jive, and . . .
- POST-APOCALYPSE EARTH IS ALSO MY SUPER JIVE OH SHIT. It’s like they knew what was in my heart. Everyone who knows me knows that I live for this crap and I never get tired or stop feeling emotions at the sight of our civilisation in ruins and brave desperate human factions trying to correct that :’D
- At first I thought the world’s reaction to Sam’s global broadcast was so simplistically naive. Like, based on today’s situation I’m pretty sure nations would immediately accuse each other of a) lying, b) developing superweapons to bolster their own power and take over the other nations, and c) start world war 3. But Veronica later says that WW3 has already happened on this Earth, and the garrison seems to be just one site for an international military organisation, so I’m gonna assume we’re at the point of worldwide peace, an enlightened human race and international alliance, and let it slide.
- Speaking of, SO MANY GREAT MINOR CHARACTERS WTF?! The cute MFE cadets! Veronica! Resistance fighters! And the usual effortless unspoken Voltron diversity in the garrison troops and the resistance fighters is so refreshing and fills my heart with joy. Women and PoC are just allowed to exist in the Voltron world without having to justify their presence or be a plot point or serve the white dudes of the series. They can be good, bad or nothing special in between and why isn’t this the basic standard of entertainment oh my god. It makes it doubly frustrating that they didn’t give Adam his due, gdi.
- I just really enjoyed watching Earth fall to the galra and the level of detail lavished on establishing that was, for once, just right. To the point that I didn’t even realise we’d gone a few eps without seeing a single Paladin. Sam Holt’s a good egg.
- The Hunk focus was welcome. The Hunk/Keith hug gave me life. Aw, Keith. You should do the emotional support thing more often. You’re getting better at it, honey.
- In general the Paladins w/family thing was super cute and cathartic after they’ve been away from home for so long.
- Like, I know there are a couple of ‘problems’ (arguably charming characteristics) of Voltron writing, that some people can’t stand. Like overengineered space problems for the protags to overcome (it took 2 Lions like, 30 seconds to take out one cannon in the end, WHY DICK ABOUT WITH THE REFLECTOR THINGIES AT ALL), or the deus ex machina (Coran you literally FORGOT you had an all-powerful crystal hanging from your damn neck and the base got exposed for NO REASON), or extremely delayed realisations of how a problem can be overcome while the audience is literally screaming at the screen (CALL YOUR DAMN LIONS IN THE CELLS GUYS DO IT DO IT NAO).
But I can’t lie - the way these scenes always get presented on screen in this series, with that incredible soundtrack making your heart race and the constant sense of urgency and danger, it really gets my blood going. I will defend its silly space antics until the day I die.
- I’m really glad Admiral Sanda got to redeem herself. She wasn’t a bad person, just had too much pride and bad solutions to an admittedly shitty problem.
- Man I really hope not too many garrison peeps got crushed by moving sections when the Atlas transformed, lmao
- Damn, the Atlas mecha is THICC
- Voltron needs a serious upgrade. It can’t keep scraping through fights like this and needing loads of help, surely.
- I’m so incredibly glad they didn’t end on a cliffhanger. There were moments toward the end where I couldn’t remember how many eps I had left and I kept thinking they were gonna leave us in the lurch. Thanks, Dreamworks.
- All in all, not as great as S6, but as usual I had a good time and lots of feelings and I feel good about how it ended.

December 16: 3% 7x04 Buttons
Only one more ep left....
(EVERYTHING) below because spoilers. Watch the show.
Well... I was wrong about it ALL coming down to a Michele and Andre confrontation but at least they got their episode.
I kind of.... accidentally spoiled myself for Michele’s death so I knew it was coming. Hence I am not devastated. Also... it felt earned. I wanted her to have her happy ending but with the Shell destroyed... I mean I’m not saying they had to kill her but I felt good that her story, her narrative, was complete. She’d founded the Shell, and lost it; she’d seen the Pulse destroy the Offshore; she’d confronted her brother; and she’d told the Inland the truth. She did what she was meant to do. So I was very sad and she’s still my fave, but if you have to kill a main, this is how to do it.
I am wondering now about Andre and the Founding Couple. He repeated “The Founding Couple lives in me” way too many times for it not to be important. Plus, he hallucinates them, which has to be meaningful. I mean yeah he could be insane the whole time, but... he’s always been hard to read in my opinion, and now he drops in this cryptic and weird thing that could both (1) explain his weirdness and (2) provide some kinda mechanism / deus ex machina to give the series a hopeful ending. DO they live IN him in some way? Something he found in the bunker on the Offshore? Something implanted in him? Something he’s receiving visions from?
Also, it’s interesting that Michele embodied the third Founder, in a sense, when she founded The Shell, and now Andre, her counterpart, is even more explicitly embodying the other two.
I know I started at the end but obviously the centerpiece of the ep was the ‘yeah we’re not really killing all the mains’ scene in the middle. I gotta say.... I loved it. That’s a hard thing to pull off: there’s no real narrative tension because there’s no way the show is actually going to kill that many people with an ep and a half to go. BUT somehow they did it anyway. It WAS tense and I WAS emotional. It was drawn out to be appropriately long for a centerpiece, long enough to show all the emotions and to up the stakes, but it didn’t drag. And though I predicted they weren’t dead, I was still surprised by the actual mechanism, and I didn’t know exactly who was in on it or when.
The set up of three groups of people able to see each other, screaming at each other, but unable to hear, was really fitting. It was like the whole situation at the time in microcosm: the candidates, the Offshore, the guards, the Inland, everyone is screaming, everyone is scared and tense but no one has all the information. That makes them scary, vulnerable, and manipulable, all at once.
Andre’s line “This IS the Offshore” was super interesting. I can only begin to unpack it now. I’m not sure what he thought he meant by it (other than he was just in denial lol), but here are some possibilities:
The Offshore is people he can manipulate or lead.
As long as the processes (including The Process) that underpin the Offshore/Inland exist, the Offshore can continue, even if it’s not a physical place.
The Offshore is the people who will do anything. The most ruthless. It made me think of Ariel and Gloria’s conversation in a previous ep, about how everyone who’s passed has done things they regret, bad things. The people being picked out for the 3% are the ones who have no limits. If the Offshore is its population, not its physical location, then those people, the scariest of the scary, will continue to embody it.
He says something before that line about how the situation or test destroys his enemies and creates allies or something. I wonder if that can be connected to this theory? He has what he thinks is a neat set up, taking out two birds with one stone: killing the traitors, and creating new soldiers out of people who were once willing to revolt against him. (Plus: punish Michele.) Is THAT the Offshore? A state of manipulation among the most powerful, smartest, and most ruthless?
I knew that somehow they wouldn’t die, as I said, but I didn’t realize Xavier was in on it the whole time. I thought he’d be surprised too, like Michele. He’s a really good actor!
The vibes I was getting from Michele and Xavier were like adoptive siblings. They’re adorable! The whole reunion scene was just !! Found family feels all the way down.
The use of “buttons” in the title to mean the buttons the candidates are supposed to press; the button Michele uses to try to get out of the prison; and the buttons on little Michele’s shoes, was awesome.
I thought they were going to do something explicitly with little Andre’s line “If you can’t do what I did, I’ll be the leader forever.” Maybe that is kind of just the summary of their whole relationship? Ultimately, she has to best HIM specifically--and she did. But the final test between them is which one will kill the other, and she could only shoot him in the shoulder. He could stab her in the gut.
I really appreciate the pacing of this season. They are not at all rushing the finale. I still have a lot of questions, but the only thing that would really shock me would be if the last 75 minutes of the show didn’t answer those questions or if it otherwise left me on an unsatisfying note. An amateur hour show would have set off the Pulse in the final ep, or the end of the penultimate ep. But here we have enough time for the aftermath, several episodes’ worth, for each group, family, main character, etc. It feels much longer than just 7 eps tbh. In a good way.

okay, here are the liveblogs of the entirety of she-ra season 1
because i don’t know how to consume media responsibly
see individual episodes under the cut:
ep1 - catra fucking purred with excitement, i had to go back to confirm, the furries are back at it again - and she sleeps at the foot of adora's bed... incredible - does she just sleep with her helmet on? wait i guess all these soldiers don't have sleep clothes, but still? - the adora-glimmer-beau fight scene was hilarious. beau and glimmer just straight up screaming at adora with enough force to shake? excellent. - the way glimmer runs with the sword away from danger is SO good - glimmer just DOESN'T stop screaming and honestly, mood - lmao
ep2 - jesus CHRIST the opening is physically killing me - the amount of times beau's voice breaks - the way they animated people moving is just top notch in general - the voices also... very good - hell yeah floppy eared deer people - neigh - incatrible - damn just keep tasing her i guess... rude - catra fucking bodice ripping the netting hell yeah - the transformation makes her and the sword slightly taller like, why??? - :C catra - "wait, whose horse was this" well it's yours now
ep3 - beau's voice continues to be excellent - the amount of screaming beau and glimmer do on average is also excellent - how are you not enraptured by horsie rolling in the grass next to you? - omg pegacorn floppin around - beau and glimmer are masters of the "oh shit" run. trot? - granny is cute - catra has such disaster lesbean vibes - i dont have my glasses you'll have to speak up - how does horsie's wings keep changing color - also i've completely accepted the ridiculosity of all these names but still... - the arc werewolf man makes when kicked - thank u for validating me swiftwind - wait where do you put the sword when not in use
ep4 - how's they get adora's horde jacket out of the bushes near that village? also she lost her force captain pin rip - so do they just never change clothes? i had high hopes from adora putting on stuff to cover the horde symbol but i guess not - aw sleebover - okay they have no sleep clothes here either - general is hot - did catra draw princess on a horse or - zarkon is a twink now. twunk? - is that jasper's voice for that side character - the beast of beast island - those are not tree destruction foley sounds - yeah stop the machines poisoning ur land! environmentalism! - this is a small kingdom. these kingdoms are all really small? - you've been friends for like 2 days - where did they get horde outfits - beau's lil exclamations are.... Good - YAY SLEEBOVER
ep5 - something tells me adora doesn't like boats - i HAVE to mute the theme song. just, wow - go fish........ - who voices scorpia because Nice - nice violin - mermista is relatable - "They're coming right for the Gate!" mermista's big groan is a mood - is catra's MO from now on just gonna be to leap up to wherever Adora is doing hero things and monologue at her - i wanna be on 8-foot-tall woman's side as well - lmao christen the ship right there
ep6 - lmao glimmer's face when she-ra boutta bust it open - only tiny food........ - drunk adora is cute - did they just leave the sword - fizzy lifting drinks - okay so the sword is just animated when its convenient, otherwise i guess adora vores it or something
ep7 - that last episode was trite so now im gonna draw while watching - i love when they reference adora's depressing upbringing. "no i don't know what an aunt is but i was hoping someone would eventually explain". also beau is a bro - so lightspinner is shadowsneaker or whatever, right - naptime - i hope they explain who greyskull is etc sometime - do you not know what a pillow is why are you lying backwards - adora trust ur friends more pls it's been at least a week by now - thats new - catra no
ep8 - soooo prom means they'll change their clothes right - damn scorpia's a princess, what does it mean that they gave up their gemstone thing? no magic? - a true soldier by upbringing, adora - hell YEAH catra in a tux - neau just gotta wear a croptop - how are they gonna let catra in her whole bodys a weapon - hell yeah these ppl snazzy as fuck - so what the fuck is swiftwind doing these days anyway - adora is me. hormf snacks - man scorpia why cant u just let ppl chill - hell yeah sexual tension dance time - how do they know how to dance - catra is smooth - "you don't understand" ouch that is like the worst thing to say to smol frost princess - catra no - "I don't want you to" man she is such a... kovu's mom in lion king 2 or 3
ep9 - beau maDE THEM FIGURINES IM CRY - rip mermista - captain dude is so dumb - scorpia is going to kill u - this rebellion is clearly not combat ready - the black garnet is the one that scorpia's family gave the horde right? - really digging the low res pixels of the cell door being kicked for some reason - kyle pls - beau's expressions are SO good - well this sucks - if adora actually got her memories wiped and rejoined the herd and catra had to pretend that everything was normal man that'd be a good fanfic - glimmer thats very anime of u - catra, a lil bitch as always - damn, nice lighting - THIS IS NOT BECAUSE I LIKE YOU B-BAKA - catra no - damn, she really just got incinerated right in front of the team, huh - had to let the sad end credits music play this time, alexa play despacito
ep10 - "yeah that sure smells like concrete" thanks scorpia - adora is SO excited that she can use magic - i had to look it up but yeah i can definitely hear the amethyst in catra's voice now - yeah entrapta didn't seem like she gave much of a shit in the first place - hell YEAH she just jumps out the window - it's pretty incredible that they haven't miscolored catra's eyes yet, at least that i saw - thank u for coming back to the original disagreement and hashing it out, hell yeah emotional intelligence - just tell ur mom, blease - when queen mom is holding glimmer as she glitches... wow that's very adult fear of you - why do they not animate the sword and backbacks whenever it pleases them? i can excuse magical sword bullshit but c'mon catra needs to eat - hell yeah trippy psychological horror episode PLEASE - catra no
ep11 - hell yeah time for the "save my archnemesis frenemy from being killed by nonsentient technology ostensibly on my side, only to receive zero gratitude and probable betrayal from said frenemy" episode - their interactions are SO good - keeping things close to your chest and not saying anything about entrapta, nice - blease i just want them to be frens again - BAPY CATRA YES - FLOFF - BLEASE - FRENS - tween catra is EXTRA FLOFF - really telling that all their good memories are of getting chased by superiors and fighting each other. fucking horde - teen lizard's hair is good - catra's pretty good at saving herself. can she do it in the way that matters, though? - part cat, part monkey - well then, this memory probably doesn't end happily - oh, maybe this'll give adora hints on how to heal glimmer - fucking shadow... slipper. fuck u - jesus christ well this is just the writing on the wall for why catra can hate adora so easily. fuck u shadow sneak - bapy.... she hiss - w o w
ep12 - creepy. yes. i have been called this before. i n c r e d i b l e - hell yeah aliens - oh my god it speaks - man, what is EVEN scorpia's deal besides comic relief... horde is real bad at cultivating friendship - hack the p l a n e t - god damn, speaker baby imp is creepy. also how did catra not hear/smell that, maybe all horde shit smells similar - so entrapta doesn't have her corresponding gemstone? also oooooh, that's what the moonstone is. - adora, you made a self-cognizant horse, look at it now, it's got self-assurance and helpful words that also perpetuate the message that all domestic or captive animals are suffering, but in a joking manner
ep13 - ok, last ep of season 1, oh boy. can't wait to read all the post s1 fanfic - how did they... switch seating order... c'momn dreamworks - so why is entrapta a princess if she doesn't have a gemstone - WHY is beau still baring his midriff? in armor??? - wait so you can stand on water now? - stop monologueing holy shit - i guess there just isn't water? - k, deus ex machina and big damn heroes, i guess - nice combo attacks - she ra said gay rights. happy wrath month everyone - catra.......... no

Grimoire of Zero 9 | Royal Tutor 10 | Kado 9 | Tsukigakirei 9 | Boku no Hero Academia 24
Grimoire of Zero 9
“You genius ball of fluff!” – LOL. He’s fluffy, but not a ball of fluff.
I always thought the clothes man was weird, but not this level of weird.
“…Dawn Tower.”
“Fair trials” are never fair when done by people. After all, people have bias.
This blue night sky…I saw it before in Hataraku Maousama. This is by Studio White Fox, right? You can tell why.
Royal Tutor 10
Note for later: this.
Wut??? I didn’t see that twist about the cousin coming. That was a fact with not much payoff though, because while the staff milked it for a gag, the colour schemes of the characters mean it was a deus ex machina of a gag – not completely believable.
Why does this feel like they’re playing endgame cards too early??? Maybe it’s so that the storyline can focus on Heine and only Heine, but I worry about this anime only ending (see link above if you still don’t know about it) not working.
“Unfortunately, I have no girlfriend.” – LOL, ouch Bruno. Self deprecation is hard to pull off sometimes…
“I’m the super hot prince of charisma!” – LOL, Licht. No you’re not. That’s the king’s job (for me).
Er, dudes? You’ve been sitting on this plot point for almost an entire season. You should have noticed this already.
What the actual flap. Because Royal Tutor is so much like Kuroshitsuji, you never expect more stereotypical anime things like sentai teams to be parodied, but that just pulled it off so well. Plus, I’ve seen a shot of Leo dressed like this making the rounds on Tumblr, so I knew he was going to dress like Yato.
Go! Pick up all the items, Yato-dressed-Leo!
It’s literally a Pandora’s box. (Or maybe a Heine’s box, to make a lame pun on Heinz.)
Cleaning fanservice stills. Well, never thought I’d say that.
LOL, Kai’s sleeping on the job.
I kind of had the suspicion the “criminal in the palace” was Heine ever since the article was introduced, but I still went “oh no!” anyway.
Kado 9
Please don’t let Shunina be evil. Pleasedon’tletShuninabeevil-oh hi. You’re still here? You’re still bothering with Kado? Thanks for snapping me out of my mantra there.
“The world continues to accelerate.” – What powerful words…breathtaking stuff.
Please don’t get Shunina drunk, Shindo. On another note, they appear to have shredded squid as a snack.
I never noticed this until now, but Shindo has yaoi hands.
Interesting to note that Indians and Africans appeared in that cutscene. This is a truly international work, even if the action’s in Japan.
For some reason, when Shindo goes, “What are your thoughts?” I’m reminded of this post by Scott from Mechanical Anime Reviews. I used almost the exact same words in talking about the show itself, coincidence or not. Speaking of which, I may get that article out someday so look forward to it.
What’s the third object, Shunina?!
I’m not sure what a signifiant (sic) is.
At least the spinning effect wasn’t something seizure-inducing (like Pokémon’s Porygon ep)…was it?
Back to “science I don’t quite understand” – here’s the law of conservation of angular momentum. Never learnt it myself, so Shindo’s intelligence is already a league beyond my own.
Even Hanamori’s in on Tsukai’s tsundere-ness, LOL. Wait – where was Tsukai’s mother?
“I love him too.” – I thought the biggest ship base in the Kado fandom was Shindo x Shunina, so now the Shindo x Hanamori fans just got some major bait.
B-But Hanamori, don’t take advantage of Natsume’s drunkkenness! Even if it’s just asking her how she feels on Shindo, can you please keep it to when she can (not drunkenly) admit her feelings?
So Tsukai isn’t with anyone. *hollers into the void* Tsukai shippers, you can take her now!
Uh-oh. So zaShunina’s speaking in the language I understand – computer terms – but that face he’s making looks like this anisotropic being’s gone mad, and I don’t like the look of that.
I thought Mifune would introduce a philosophical element to this. He did, just not in a way I predicted (which is good).
Sericulture = the cultivation of silkworms to make silk, apparently.
The “thread” reminds me of Akutagawa’s “The Spider’s Thread”.
(Trigger warning for death in this next comment) Shindo, lying on the ground…that’s either exhaustion or death. I’m scared to think Nanomis-hein can revert death.
The more Shunina smiles, the more creepy he gets…and simultaneously, the more I become enraptured by this show. It’s strange.
It seems as if Shunina is expressing regret for the first time. I don’t like his sullen face, I’d rather a creepy face I could love than a sad face I can’t love. Besides, this mysterious black figure was in the end-of-ep preview last time, I bet he’s another universe’s Shindo.
Well, my guess was right and…ovibvrnvlk! Saraka?! What in flip-flap are you doing? T-This isn’t a superhero show! W-Wh-What? That’s one killer end-of-ep hook! Does this mean Saraka is a Sailor Moon of the anisotropic?! (My brain just got bent in so many directions, I think I’m seeing the anisotropic…but man, I still want more Kado…)
This ED sketch of Tsukai is new, it seems. The shots of everyone else are familiar to anyone who’s visited Kado’s official website and seen the character descriptions though.
It’s an apostrophe. I thought that was a typo, but it’s there in the titlecard! Also, I worry about bleeding Shindo and how this may become a shonen fighter (despite “shonen fighter” being my style of expertise, writing-wise)…
Update: Apparently Shunina’s “too many belts” outfit is inspired by a king in the storybook the child from ep 2 is reading. Also, random thoughts, but Tabiuta is anime’s equivalent to the Big Bang Theory opening. (brought to you by Reddit)
Update 2: The turtle apparently appeared in ep 7, although I don’t think I noticed it. (brought to you by ANN)
Tsukigakirei 9
The Wind Rises. Isn’t that a Ghibli movie? Yeah…it is, but it’s also a story by Tatsuo Hori, apparently, from which the movie is partially based. The Setting Sun is a Dazai work, by the way.
No OP, huh? They’re dead serious about getting their plot over and done with, which is good.
You can see Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises) and Ningen Shikkaku (No Longer Human) on Kotarou’s shelf, alongside Pandora’s Box (Dazai), The Restaurant of Many Orders (Miyazawa), some work by an Arishima Tatsuo (although the book is credited to Arima Tatsuo in the show), Kokoro (Souseki) and Goodbye (Dazai). The one with the blue spine I presume is The Setting Sun/Pandora’s Box (Dazai) – I remember trying to spin a poem for Bungou Stray Dogs’s Dazai using the title of The Setting Sun as inspiration.
Frumpy man on Kotarou’s magazine kinda looks like what the actual Dazai is shown to be like in photos. I thought for a second the LNs were Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, but like Grimoire of Zero and Re: Zero, they only bear partially simlar titles.
I’m hollering! As much as I know how much LNs can be good, you know how the anime community sees LNs and that’s why I’m laughing so much.
I had a character called Daisuke once (he was the uncle and consultant for Tetsuya in Ro.Te.O, as well as being Katsuo’s dad), so I was startled to see this older brother figure is also called Daisuke.
It’s such a strange reversal – Kado became a shonen battler, losing the faith of most of the people who still watch it (not me, though!) and Tsukigakirei actually got good. It’s an almost sad change. Tsukigakirei also almost lost its bad CGI, which is good too.
Ike, LOL. I think that company’s shown up previously.
Dokidoki is a heartbeat onomatopoeia, so it’s not quite OMG.
Aw, Chinatsu. Please don’t make me all sour inside again. I already had that when I saw people jump ship on Kado.
I wrote on similar experiences for One Wish They Never Wanted, so to see Akane weeping over the end of one period of schooling is something I know well.
So hayashi isn’t rice in this case? It’s that dance from the OP?!
Huh, that’s interesting. My parents gave me the exact same talk for the experiences I wrote on for One Wish They Never Wanted (hence there’s a similar scene between Takuma and his father), so suddenly…Tsukigakirei has become a Kado replacement (although I still don’t love any characters in Tsukigakirei as much as I do Shunina, haha). Strange thing is, I thought I’d never go where I’d want to go and…I went where I wanted to go. *tries not to cry* Dangit, Tsukigakirei. You’re so good at bringing feels right now…it was good to wait 6 eps for the good stuff.
I only read the back half of the ED convo and it doesn’t make much sense without context…
Boku no Hero Academia 24
I read the ep synopsis…and when it says “Todoroki vs Bakugo” as the next ep title, you know Iida’s gonna lose.
Interesting how everyone loses interest in competitiors that lose. it’s kinda like those rankings people do for anime episodes per week, which I admit I enjoy watching quite a bit, but this almost makes me feel guilty for ranking anime (which is a weird sentiment to have, I know, I know).
Well, there’s something new. I guess it’s only natural for All Might to be Quirkless beforehand, that’s how this show works.
Physics 101: When an unstoppable force hits an immovable object…[fill in the blanks].
I see. The best offence is a good defence and vice versa, which is why the two are so evenly matched.
The girls are wearing summer uniform shirts in the ED now. Were they like this last time? I don’t remember.
