This feels like a hot take nowadays, but Jara (Jason Todd/Yara Flor) was the best possible relationship that couldâve come out of the Elseworldâs Teen Titans. Do I think the series as a whole wouldâve been better without a romance plot? Yes, of course, but man do I love Jara.
First of all, both of them are dealing with the pressure of carrying on the legacy of two of the original Teen Titans. I see Cara fans saying âoh, but Batgirl is a legacy name, too,â but itâs really not the same. Cass had Barbara in her corner while Jason and Yara didnât have Dick or Donna in theirs (at least at the start/not in the same way that Cass had Babs.)
Also, despite the fact that the romance plot from #27 to #36 was forced I admit, they had chemistry before that. Almost from the start, before they were really friends or got along that well, they had banter! There was tension! There was already foreshadowing for the relationship that would blossom between the two of them by #5.Â
The specific moment of foreshadowing that comes to mind in issue 5 is Royâs thought boxes on page 26, where Roy compared the two to him and Donna. Most people say this makes no sense, that it would be better to make a comparison between Dick and Donna, I say this was purposeful to hint at how their relationship would develop.
And at the end, Yara was the one who was there for Jason after he killed Condiment King, helping him as he tried to figure out what it meant to have blood on his hands. All the others, especially Roy, turned their back on him without even asking why he did it (which I suppose we should blame the writers for more than the characters, and how rushed the entire ending is).
In conclusion, whether you like the ship or not, the writers were pushing it from the start. If youâre an Elsewordâs Teen Titans fan, you canât ignore it. Stop getting pissy when people enjoy the CANON ship, and stop trying to make a perfectly normal friendship a romantic relationship⌠but also qpr cara would slap.

đ§Ą: What is a popular (serious) theory you disagree with?
The theory that Iris loved the Flash and not Barry. Her confession in s2 is literally her stating otherwise. People love to cite Armageddon, butâŚaside from that being very victim-blame-y (sure, guys, put that on Iris instead of the guy literally messing with her mind), people also forget that she literally shot Eobard, whom she thought was the real Flash, for the sake of Barry, whom she thought was the Reverse Flash. And then whispered âBarry, I love you tooâ with enough power to motivate him to set things right. Does that sound like someone who only loves the Flash??
đ: What is a popular ship you just can't get behind, and why?
I see the appeal in Barry/Snart as a ship, but I donât ship them. Same for Harry/Cisco, though in that case, itâs because I donât see their dynamic that way
đ: What does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character?
Irisâs âyou are not the Flash, Barry, we areâ is a supportive line, not a dismissive one. Itâs âletâs carry these burdens togetherâ, not invalidating him! Really, it says the same thing as âthere is no Flash without Iris Westâ and âwithout you, there wouldnât be the FlashââŚboth of which Barry said, pre-s4 (and also, Barry says âwe are the Flashâ in a later scene đ the line everyone attributes to Iris is in fact first said verbatim by Barry)
đ: Which character is not as hot as everyone else seems to think?
âŚlisten Iâm very much biased because Iâm not ace and donât see people as âhotâ đ in terms of âattractiveâ thoâŚmaybe Oliver Queen? Idk, he just doesnât do it for me.
đ: Which character is way hotter than everyone else seems to think?
Idk if anyone in the Arrowverse is underrated in terms of attractiveness tbh đ maybe Cisco? Iâm not totally sure.
đ¤: Which character is not as morally bad as everyone else seems to think?
Iâm not sure if people still hate Harry for killing Turtle, but the people who do need to bffr.
First of all, Turtle was not a helpless victim, and I despise how the show, and the people who hate Harry for this, constantly ignored that when talking about how Harry killed a man. Turtle is a domestic abuser who killed his wife and gloated about it, and then gloated about doing the same to Patty.
Second of all, the context: Harry did it to figure out how to steal Barryâs speed, so he could give it to Zoom, who dangled Jesse in Harryâs face to remind him of the consequences of failure. He wasnât killing in cold blood. He wasnât even doing it because he wanted to. He even warned Team Flash that heâd choose his daughter over them!! And even Barry defended his decision to the Team, as he should, because any of them would do the same thing/similar things to protect their loved ones, AND THEY HAVE! And we donât hate them for it because their motivations are understandable!
đ: What is your biggest unpopular opinion about the series?
Doesnât seem to be much of an unpopular opinion on Tumblr lol but I don't like s3. I like some parts of it (and the Westallen moments in it are (mostly) to die for), but itâs such a mess. It even pisses me off because it could've been so good (and also because parts of this fandom will call it the "best season" unironically...and a subsection of them still call for the death of a certain leading lady)
Also Savitar was a boring villain until he was unmasked, and idk why so many people liked him before that
đ: If you had to choose one major character to die, who would you choose?
Oooh this is a hard one, because usually my inclination is to save characters theyâve killed đ
I guess Nash? I mean, his biggest contributions were kicking off Crisis and housing the Wells. Crisis couldâve happened so many different ways, and for the latterâŚthey couldâve just bought back Harry instead of having Nash be his very boring mouthpiece. I wouldnât remove him from the show entirely unless Crisis happened a different way, butâŚpost-Crisis, heâs entirely extraneous
unpopular opinions ask game!
