“Prove It All Night” — A scene that never happened on The Sopranos of a teenage Tony beating a rival suitor for Carm to death while she waits in his convertible telling herself she doesn't know it’s happening.

“Darkness on the Edge of Town” — Hitting poses behind the wheel with a pal as the most insane scenery of Texas or Northern Ontario or the Maritimes makes us absolutely lose it with wonder every five minutes or so.

Hasty Pudding Man of the Year 2023 Wrap Up

I was thrilled when it was announced Hasty Pudding Theatricals of Harvard University’s 2023 Man of the Year was Bob Odenkirk, one of my favorite actors working today. Just last week I named the final season of his series Better Call Saul my #1 TV Show of 2022. So I was super excited to get the chance to cover this event, which is right down the street from me.

At Farkas Hall, in front of an audience, Odenkirk came out and was roasted by the members of Hasty Pudding Theatrical. Some of the jokes were funny, but a few were groaners, i.e. a number of jokes about his thinning hair and puns about his movie Nobody. But more than anything, it was fun because Odenkirk and the cast members all seemed to be having a good time. Then they brought out the Pudding Pot and Odenkirk read a funny speech (the highlight of the whole ceremony) where he read his margin notes “accidentally”. There’s a reason this guy was a writer on SNL, The Ben Stiller Show, The Dana Carvey Show, Mr. Show, and Tenacious D.

Following the ceremony, Odenkirk did a press conference. He was very appreciative and humbled by the honor. He spoke about the joy he gets out of mixing it up: writing, acting, and then producing, but also doing an action movie and following that up with a comedy. He mentioned his upcoming AMC TV series Lucky Hank, which is lighter and funnier than Better Call Saul. He was asked about this honor coming a year and a half after his heart attack and he said how appreciative he is of this honor now. He also mentioned he has a book coming out in the Fall with his daughter. When asked about advice for anyone starting in showbiz he said “You got to put out your best energy, but you have to read the room too”. Well put!

It’s been a while and I’ve yet again accrued a number of Arrested Development sketches that I haven’t done anything with to further their completion in a while, but like regardless and have decided to post because of that.

For context, the girl in the Van Halen t-shirt is a character I made up who Tony is friends with during his high school years. Her name is Stella Reed, and they become friends after she sees Tony perform a magic show at the school’s talent show(she’s also into magic).

This last one is from all the way back in January of this year. I meant to include it in my last sketch accruement thingy but I forgot. Maybe it’s something I’ll revive one day, maybe not. I ended up writing a more fleshed out story based on it, though, so I more likely on the not side. But I like the concept and drawing sooooo ta da.
