This wasn’t fair. None of this was fair. Teo knew it—had known it for most of his life, ever since he learned Jades couldn’t attend the Academy, but could still be chosen for the trials. He knew it the whole time but he felt it now, a bone-deep fuming rage at the whole thing: the alter, the trials—Sol themself. or: an alternate ending (1,542 words)

Teo couldn’t breathe.

Everything felt choking: the heavy cloak of feathers around his shoulders, the cold and pointy crown on his brow, everyone’s eyes tracking his slow ascent—everyone except for the one person he wanted the most. Aurelio’s eyes were focused on his sister, refusing to look away from where she stood in front of the alter, back straight, eyes forward, fists just slightly trembling at her side.

Weighed down by his regalia, Teo’s wings twitched and stretched and closed, refusing to stay still against his back. It would be so easy to leave—to drop it all and fly away, and leave it to someone else to complete the sacrifice. Did it have to be Teo? Could someone else do it for him—Dios Luna or one of the other competitors?

Me and my irl friend have talked about this a few times!

I think it would be so cool because of how different their views on the gods are. The Dioses feel a lot more human because of how they interact with mortals. They have their own cities, they get married to mortals and those mortals aren’t even turned into gods. The Greek gods would never dream of doing that. On top of that the Dioses actually interact with their kids, compare that to the Greek gods who haven’t interacted with at least one of their kids.

I feel like it would be such a culture shock for the semidioses especially because they live with mortals and then all the Greek demigods are just in cabins at a camp because of all the monsters.

I feel like Ethan and Teo would be really good friends if they met because I hc Ethan to be able to speak to geese and I feel like they would bond over being able to understand them. They’re also both mama’s boys so Ethan keeps talking about how great his mom is and then Teo meets Nemesis he’s just like ‘what the fuck? She’s awful. She might be even worse than Lumbre. AND SHE TOOK YOUR EYE????’

Aurelio and Annabeth is a friendship I cannot unsee. The same goes for Auristela and Thalia. I feel like Niya and Leo would be really good friends much to everyone’s dismay. Even though I compare Xio to Ethan a lot I think he would actually be really close with Alabaster since they’re both outcast who are children of ‘lesser gods’
