Wis. DOJ announces crackdown on illegal telemarketing calls
I don't know about you, but I am pretty tired of these calls myself.
Wausau Pilot & Review State justice officials this week announced a new crackdown on illegal telemarketing targeting operations responsible for billions of calls to U.S. consumers. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul issued a statement this week announcing the effort, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Dept. of Trade, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, the Federal Trade Commission and other…

(regarding the US government)
I didn't know that the National Do Not Call registry was something that like anyone can sign up for
people who are fine with breaking the law can still try n robo-call/telemarket/scam you ofc but like registering one's phone number would stop all law-abiding telemarketers
and it's free, you jus gotta give em your phone number and email and then click the verification link in the email
and then if someone were to call you while you're on the do not call list, you can report them for federal fraud :0
I don't like the American govt but using them to get fewer robo calls doesn't seem like a bad thing ? (if I'm wrong tho, do tell)

so, while idly wondering what reigen’s major might have been, i got inspired to sort out my thoughts on it properly.
first, let’s lay down some straightforward facts from the manga, anime, and fan book:
he must be suffering from impostor syndrome or something similar, based on how he talks about his ”true self”
he was a humanities major (mentioned in the spinoff as the reason he can’t help mob with math which is. so real.)
he’s extremely confident in his argument skills, is good at reading people, and is competent and comfortable discussing things like the relationship between individuals and society, the meaning of life, and what makes a self
he is also knowledgeable about laws and deals with things like insurance companies with confidence
in the separation arc press conference, his narration stated that he had expected to have gotten bored with spirits and such ”within a year, too”, so assuming he had ran it for up to a year before meeting mob, he was around 24 back then
"within a year, too” implies he worked at the water cooler telemarketing job for up to a year, so, since he was around 23
on the same page, he refers to that time in his life as when he could easily get the gist of anything, but couldn’t get into anything more deeply than being curious about it (this is very often translated very, very badly.)
he quit his previous job because he had grown sick of it, and rented the office space before he had even come up with what kind of business he wanted to start
when wondering about why he is working as a psychic, one of the points against it is that it’s not profitable
his father is a local government employee, and as someone who’s very serious about things, thinks reigen is unemployed
his mother is a housewife, and as someone who’s very serious about things, thinks someone has tricked him into doing his current job
his sister works at a bank, thinks he’s a total fraud and that he should turn himself in, the earlier the better
it’s also reasonable to assume that:
he started working at the water cooler job immediately after getting his bachelor’s, as bachelor’s degrees are four to six years long in japan, which fits perfectly between being 18 when graduating high school to being 23~24 while he worked there
he probably finished his degree, because dropping out would have been a massive contradiction to how he said everything had come to him pretty easily – he was thinking back to himself when that was stated and was being pretty harsh about his own fickleness, so it’s safe to assume he wasn’t lying about that
with reigen’s lack of focus and tendency to pick up things that seem interesting on a whim, his degree is likely a mishmash of things instead of something that would railroad him into a specific career
his major was on the artsier or more theoretical side, as graduating and ending up in a job that has nothing to do with your degree because you need to work somewhere and it crushing your dreams and soul is a bit of a trope for those majors (he could have been talking from experience when telling the 7th div folks that they need to live in reality and that society doesn’t care about their fanciful ideas)
his family is likely well-off and at least a bit conservative
he would have received financial aid of some kind or taken a loan to be able to quit and up and rent an office on a whim just two years after graduating, even if he had been working while studying
his parents likely wanted him to get a good, serious job, like his sister going into banking
his father specifically might have wanted his son to follow in his footsteps – and he might have had his best interest in mind, because based on what the japanese career counseling website i used as reference said about ”local government employee”, it would have been a perfect fit – lots of change, working with people, solving problems, needing broad knowledge/skills etc (i’ve lost my mind over this before, there’s so many delicious family dynamics to explore in this)
he could have gone to university because he didn’t have any better ideas and tried to just get a degree that would satisfy his parents while also letting him explore ways to ”become someone”, as in have importance and make a difference
taking all that in, and acknowledging that i do not know enough about how japanese degrees work so i’m basing this somewhat in my own experience with academic freedom, i’m leaning towards reigen having been a political science major who kept taking classes outside his major. psychology, philosophy, maybe some folkloristics or other fun things like that? it would fit with his personality, current skills and knowledge base, and with trying to please his parents while doing whatever he wants to. picking political science might have been a compromise – his parents might have wanted him to study something like law instead of arts, and leveraged paying for his to have a say on his pick
that’s a nifty little hypothesis, right? perfectly reasonable. not much reaching, fits in the themes and narrative aims of canon. doesn’t require any wild leaps of logic. a good point to stop.
so hey, you know how when starting a business it’s pretty common to take a loan? and his sister, who works in banking, thinks he’s a fraud? and his father thinks he’s unemployed, lying about working but instead living on money other than his own income? and his mother thinks he’s been tricked and exploited? and in the fan book, reigen says he hasn’t been home in years but thinks he probably should drop by to clear a misunderstanding between them?
does the misunderstanding have something to do with, oh i don’t know, his family backing his loan or otherwise being involved with it and him seemingly fucking off to waste the money on weird shit with no sign that he was going to pay it back??
reigen, reigen please, what have you done, i know you self-sabotage and get into fucked up shenanigans to avoid having to be vulnerable and then you DO fix things in the end but reigen, it’s your family, what have you --

You may not know it, but thousands of often shadowy companies routinely traffic in personal data you probably never agreed to share — everything from your real-time location information to private financial details. Even if you could identify these data brokers, there isn’t much you can do about their activities, including in California, which has some of the strongest digital privacy laws in the U.S.
That’s on the verge of changing. Both houses of the California state Legislature have passed the Delete Act, which would establish a “one stop shop” where individuals could order hundreds of data brokers registered in the state to delete their personal data — and to cease acquiring and selling it in the future — with a single request.
The Delete Act isn’t law yet. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom still has to decide whether to sign the measure, whose impact could potentially extend well beyond state lines given California’s history of setting similar trends.
Here’s what you need to know.
WHAT THE BILL DOES
While California law already gives individuals the right to request data deletion, doing so currently requires making separate requests to hundreds of data brokers registered in the state, many with their own unique requirements for drafting and handling such requests. Even then, nothing stops these companies from simply reacquiring the data after they delete it.
The Delete Act would require the state’s new privacy office, the California Privacy Protection Agency, to set up a website where consumers can verify their identity and then make a single request to delete their personal data held by data brokers and to opt out of future tracking. Proponents call it a “do not track” signal similar to the “do not call” list for telemarketers maintained by the Federal Trade Commission.
California already regulates data brokers, but the Delete Act would strengthen those provisions by requiring the companies to disclose more information about the data they collect on consumers and beefing up the state’s enforcement mechanisms.
MEET THE DATA BROKERS
The Electronic Privacy Information Center, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit focused on bolstering the right to privacy, defines data brokers as companies that collect and categorize personal information, usually to build profiles on millions of Americans that the companies can then rent, sell or use to provide services.
The data they collect, per EPIC, can include: “names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, gender, age, marital status, children, education, profession, income, political preferences, and cars and real estate owned.”
That is in addition to “information on an individual’s purchases, where they shop, and how they pay for their purchases,” plus “health information, the sites we visit online, and the advertisements we click on. And thanks to the proliferation of smartphones and wearables, data brokers collect and sell real-time location data.”
Privacy advocates have warned for years that location and seemingly non-specific personal data — often collected by advertisers and amassed and sold by brokers — can be used to identify individuals. They also charge that the data often isn’t well secured and that the brokers aren’t covered by laws that require the clear consent of the person being tracked. They have argued for both legal and technical protections so consumers can push back.
ARE DATA BROKERS THAT BAD?
Data brokers say they get a bad rap for serving a vital need.
Dan Smith, president of the Consumer Data Industry Association, which describes itself as “the voice of the consumer reporting industry,” called the Delete Act “severely flawed” and warned in a Wednesday release that the change could lead to unintended consequences by undermining consumer fraud protections, hurting the competitiveness of small businesses and entrenching big platforms such as Facebook and Google that collect vast amounts of consumer data but don’t sell it.
Smith also argued that the heart of the bill — the one-stop data deletion program — could potentially allow malicious outsiders to impersonate consumers and delete their data without permission. The organization also argues that the cost of the legislation will be much greater than California regulators currently suggest.
WHAT ABUSE OF DATA BROKER INFORMATION LOOKS LIKE
In other respects, though, the information collected by these companies can be startlingly easy to abuse. The general lack of U.S. restrictions on what brokers can do with the vast amount of data they collect means there’s aren’t many legal protections to prevent outsiders from spying on politicians, celebrities and just about anyone who is a target of idle curiosity, or malice.
In mid-2021, for instance, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops announced the resignation of its top administrative official, Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill, ahead of a report by the Catholic news outlet The Pillar probing his private romantic life. The Pillar said it obtained “commercially available” location data from an unnamed vendor that was “correlated” to Burrill’s phone to determine he had visited gay bars and private residences while using Grindr, a dating app popular with gay people.
The Pillar alleged “serial sexual misconduct” by Burrill, as homosexual activity is considered sinful under Catholic doctrine and priests are expected to remain celibate. Following an extended leave, Burrill resumed his ministry in the small town of West Salem, Wisconsin, according to the Catholic News Service.

1 Chronicles 4: 21-23. "The Emissary."
Tumblr media
The Gematria for this section comes from Beth Ashbeah, the Linen Workers. Linen has to be growen, harvested, retted, then spun into fibers and then woven.
Linen garments are a sign of intense refinement. The Gematria says:
"Kabbalah changes the Bible. Decode the Bible. Hitler and Armageddon caused the codes to be hidden. Decode the Record and the world will become Shabbathai, the Bride of the King.
Use charisma to speak against the fake people and the pedophile, and a snake will be killed."
This obviously refers to the problem posed by the terrorists of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and their leader, Mitt Romney, who are by far the worst enemies of a global Shabbat since Hitler.
Once we decide to fully enforce laws prohibiting domestic terrorism and those against the Mormon's predilections for pedophilia and human trafficking, significant progress towards Shabbathai will be made.
This will require the closure of the Church for good along with the Republican Party and its support mechanisms lest the world once again fall prey to its rhetorics of violence, bigotry, anti-Semitism, homophobia and terracide.
21 The sons of Shelah "The Emissary" son of Judah:
Er the father of Lekah, Laadah the father of Mareshah and the clans of the linen workers at Beth Ashbea,
er=the wild ass vs. the donkey that conveys Mashiach.
Lekah=goes forth
Laadah=talk widly
Mareshah=the summit
Beth Ashbea=house of the oath
22 Jokim, the men of Kozeba, and Joash and Saraph, who ruled in Moab and Jashubi Lehem. (These records are from ancient times.)
Jokim=the Lord will raise up
Kozeba=lying
Joash=Yah has grasped
Saraph=burning serpent
Moab=who is your father?
Jashubi Lehem=war is returning
23 They were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah; they stayed there and worked for the king.
Netaim=plantations
Gederah=wall
The Gematria for this section comes from the word Shelah:
"There is an alarm. Cancer booms the meaning. The Hidden Code has changed. Changed, changed.
Decode Me, All of Me, I am the Beach by the Black Sea, I am the Egg and the Thigh, I am the Face. I am God."
The Torah Tantra for the above is:
"The antichrist goes forth and talks wildly in the House of the Oath. The Lord has seen, war has come and He and His Prophets will rise up against the Liar, and protect the Garden Behind the Wall."
God is speaking to directly to His prophets through the Gematria, the Burning Serpent, telling them the world must do something to protect this place, the Garden Behind the Wall, from the Republicans and their imp, Donald Trump, a liar who took and oath. He had lots of help in this effort and now our world is now turning on borrowed time.
The evidence of Trump's betrayal is in the movie the Widows. Someone has extensive footage regarding Barbara and David Green's theft of Blue State Digital telemarketing lists from the Clinton campaign and the role the Family Research Council and Senator Hawley played in it. To pretend Trump et al are not guilty and to allow them to survive is to Bear False Witness against God and this cannot be tolerated.
Joe Biden must prosecute the Trump Administration, the Republican Party, the Family Research Council, the Greens, Waltons, the Kochs, the Heritage Foundation the RNC and every lawmaker and page that knew what happened at Josh Hawley's house and said nothing or our government should no longer be considered sovereign over us.
Donald Trump is a War Criminal. If the Biden Administration refuses to prosecute him for his crimes, then President Biden also needs to be arrested. Tolerance of election fraud and despotism undermines the edifice of modern civilzation. Public Servants who understand and respect the importance of this will arrest Donald Trump and Joe Biden if necessary this very instant.
To "ret" the sins of the former generation away from the present and weave the future together as if all were linen workers is how freedom from corruption and apartheid called Shabbathai will last.

Repeat Offender Permanently Banned from Telemarketing, Selling Business Programs
A scammer, who boasted that consumers could earn a six-figure income if they purchased and used his $10,000 “asset protection service” business program, is banned for life from telemarketing and from selling any type of business program in the future.
The Federal Trade Commission previously charged that the scam artist falsely claimed consumers would make a substantial income, and that he failed to disclose that his company’s “references” were paid to give favorable reviews. An FTC order entered in 1997 barred those deceptive practices, but the scammer has violated the order by using the same deceptive business practices in his most recent scheme. In addition, he failed to disclose significant facts to consumers, especially his time spent in federal prison for money laundering and wire fraud – a violation of the FTC order.
Richard C. Neiswonger, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, his business partner, William S. Reed, and their firm, Asset Protection Group, Inc., told consumers with no sales experience that by purchasing their “APG Program” they would become well-paid business consultants selling APG’s “asset protection” services. For $9,800, consumers received training materials, a one-day training session, and a business affiliation with APG, which defendants claimed would provide consumers with carefully-screened “qualified prospective clients.” Consumers were supposed to make money by selling APG’s asset protection services to clients who wanted financial privacy and wanted to make their assets less obvious to potential litigants or creditors. These services involved guidance on forming Nevada corporations and creating offshore corporations. The defendants promised consumers that they would readily make a six-figure income; the company even provided references that consumers could call who would back up their claims.
In fact, consumers paid thousands of dollars for cold call lists, rather than pre-screened clients. Not only were they unable to achieve six-figure incomes, according to the receiver appointed to oversee the business, approximately 94 percent of the consultants failed to earn back their initial purchase fee for the program. Only one person ever earned a six-figure income, while hundreds of consumers lost money. The company’s references were, in fact, paid to deliver positive reviews of their experience. In addition, the 1997 order required that Neiswonger provide written proof to the FTC of a $100,000 performance bond to the Commission before marketing any program, which he failed to do while continuing to market his business opportunity program.
The judge entered a second permanent injunction against Neiswonger, which permanently bans him from advertising, marketing, promoting, offering for sale, selling, or otherwise inducing participation in any program and bans him from telemarketing.

What is DLT in Bulk SMS India?
👉TRAI has released a new platform to overcome frauds happening through Bulk SMS Service by sending unsolicited SMS. As per the guidelines, every Business (Entity) and Bulk SMS Provider (means: Telemarketer) have to register with the Telecom Operators to access service & continue sending Bulk SMS.
👉 DLT registration is made mandatory by TRAI from June 2020. It prevents customers from Unsolicited messages. It restricts any business from sending spontaneous and fraudulent messages and calls to customers.
👉 Companies can do DLT registration on their own or by connecting to any SMS Service Provider. The SMS Service provider usually helps their customer for DLT registration and other procedure.
👉 This process takes approximately 12 to 36 working hours so if any business wants to send messages on any particular event they have to complete DLT registration, Sender ID approval and Template approval process before their campaign time.
✅ Here is the list of documents required for DLT registration :
🟢 PAN CARD
🟢 GST Certificate
🟢 Proof Of Identity
🟢 Proof of Address
🟢 Authorization Letter
👉 There are many companies that charge fees for DLT registration, but few don't charge for DLT registration like WebXion technologies. You connect to this company for free DLT registration to avoid unnecessary headache because of documentation.

WASHINGTON, Aug 18 (Reuters) - A Georgia man who was convicted late last year for his role in a $463 million genetic testing scheme to defraud Medicare was sentenced to 27 years in prison on Friday, the U.S. Justice Department said in a statement.
Minal Patel, 44, of Atlanta, owned LabSolutions LLC, a lab enrolled with Medicare that performed sophisticated genetic tests. Patel conspired with patient brokers, telemedicine companies, and call centers to target Medicare beneficiaries with telemarketing calls falsely stating that Medicare covered expensive cancer genetic tests, according to prosecutors.
Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people over 65 and the disabled.
After the Medicare beneficiaries agreed to take a test, Patel paid kickbacks and bribes to patient brokers to obtain signed doctors' orders authorizing the tests from telemedicine companies, prosecutors said. To conceal the kickbacks and bribes, Patel required patient brokers to sign sham contracts, they said.
Patel was convicted by a federal jury in Florida late last year of health care fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and payment of illegal health care kickbacks.
From July 2016 through August 2019, LabSolutions submitted more than $463 million in claims to Medicare, including for medically unnecessary genetic tests, of which Medicare paid over $187 million, the Justice Department said. In that time frame, Patel personally received over $21 million in Medicare proceeds, prosecutors added.
Patel was indicted in 2019 on charges of healthcare fraud and paying and receiving kickbacks to and from marketers who collected cheek swabs from patients for genetic testing.
Back then, U.S. federal agents raided genetic testing laboratories, and 35 people were criminally charged in four states in a crackdown on genetic testing fraud that officials said caused $2.1 billion in losses to federal healthcare insurance programs.

Character Intro: Dolos (Kingdom of Ichor)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nicknames- The Teflon God by the people of Olympius
Mr. Foxy by Aphrodite & Dione
Prick by Apate
Father by Pheme
Sweetheart by Elpis
Age- 47 (immortal)
Location- Corinth, Olympius
Personality- He's naturally very charismatic and enigmatic, drawing people in. He's cunning, deceptive, as well as being highly intelligent, using other people's weaknesses to his advantage. He rarely loses his cool & is only a bit vulnerable around those he absolutely trusts and loves. He's married.
Being the god of trickery, deception, treachery, craftiness, & guile his abilities include being able to communicate with/shapeshift into rats, cats, & foxes, enhanced eyesight, casting powerful illusions, creating/summoning portals to trap enemies or use for storage, invisibility, and making multiple copies of himself. He can also mimic the voices of people & sounds he's just heard, perfectly.
Dolos lives in the state of Corinth in a sprawling beach house estate with his wife Elpis (goddess of hope). His main location of operations is in New Olympus.
He's well known for being quite the snazzy dresser, rarely dressing casually in public. Crisp tailored suits made of the finest materials, hair slicked back, always smelling of strong expensive cologne, & wearing shoes worth more than the average rent. He takes great pride in his extensive collection of designer shoes made out of snake skin.
His go-to drink is a st. germain spritz. He also likes champagne, red wine, rum & cokes, scotch, and dirty martinis.
He also loves his wife's eggs florentine, where he adds in some strottarga bianco caviar.
Dolos loves his family & will do anything to uphold/defend their honor. He even gave his daughter Pheme (goddess of fame) a start up loan for her Diamond Ave. brand. He admires her brains & tireless work ethic, but does wish she had more time for him and her mom. Dolos' relationship with his father Pseudologos (god of lies) is currently contested.
Other members of his immediate family include his uncle Logos (god of stories) and his cousin Eikono (goddess of iconography & literature). He's not really close with them.
For "work", he dabbles in a bit of everything of the shady variety, all with varying degrees of criminality. Dolos has a highly trained crew of employees that are some of the greatest in the con game. They do everything from pick-pocketing to ultra sleuth theft to running outlandish credit card charges and even identity theft! He & his crew also does telemarketing, spam mail, robo calls, money laundering, racketeering, mail fraud, and loan sharking. Some of the country's infamous crime families are in Dolos' pockets. In spite of all this, he does have a few legit businesses- a brand of designer eyewear (Shadow Specs) and a cologne currently in development. He also writes for Momus' magazine as well as The Acropolis Street Ledger, the business/finance magazine owned by the messenger god Hermes.
In the pantheon Dolos doesn't really have any friends, though he seems to enjoy the company of Aplistos (god of avarice), Orthosia (goddess of wealth), Felis (Titaness of cats), Lycana (Titaness of lycanthropy), and Psionikós (god of the mind). Dolos manages to be acquaintances with some of his wife's friends like Hesperis (goddess of the evening & sunset), Leto (Titaness of demurity & motherhood), Hyperion (Titan god of heavenly light), and Theia (Titaness of sight & heavenly light). He doesn't talk at all with his former employee/protege, Apate (goddess of fraud & deception), still feeling guilty over breaking her heart. There used to be one person Dolos considered a true friend- Prometheus (Titan god of forethought), but they sort of had a falling out almost a century ago.
In his free time, he often likes to keep it low-key, spending time with his wife- surfing, sailing, cliff diving, yachting, & playing poker (with him sometimes partaking in the high stakes poker game lead by one of the gorgons, Euryale). When he's feeling sociable, Dolos likes to hit up the nightclubs & casinos. He once ran a charge on one of Zeus' credit cards for a brand new hot tub.
His favorite meal is seared scallops and saffron poached lobster, with a side of beluga caviar.
"Trust is the fool's ally."
