TBHK CHAPTER 99.....
we need to discuss because it absolutely altered my opnion on mtsk a ton.
im gonna be hoonest when i say i kinda love them more now. their relationship is so beautifully complicated and at the same time admittedly they're definetely unhealthy in some aspects.
kou trying to force mitsuba to eat but ending up hurting him just because he wanted him to live SO BADLY because he knows he wouldnt be able to stand living without him
kou doesnt want mitsuba to go so bad that he ends up hurting him.... all the ships in tbhk aren't really like the other ones i've seen. they have genuine flaws. they aren't perfect and glittery.
they're real and that's why i love them.
mitsukou is DEFINETELY not toxic, but unhealthy as of now.
they love and need eachother soo sooos osoososo much but they end up hurting eachother because of the horrible situation they're put in and they need to work things out for eachother but as of rn they really can't so it results in tragedy*EXPLODES AS GREEN ALIEN GOO SEEPS OUT*

ok but i’ve been thinking about the chapter 99 thing and kou potentially becoming like tsukasa and the moral grey area with all that’s happened but i think i’ve figured it out.
tsukasa is toxic to mitsuba. he forces him to eat other supernaturals, not because he cares about him, but because he wants to use and manipulate mitsuba. he doesn’t actually care about him as a person. he wants to control mitsuba, and does this by emotionally manipulating him.
kou, on the other hand, genuinely cares about mitsuba a lot. he honestly wants to help him, he doesn’t just want to use him. however, he is so desperate in his attempts to help mitsuba that it can become unhealthy. kou and mitsuba are yet another example of this unhealthy, all-consuming love that is such a huge theme in tbhk. kou is so desperate to not lose mitsuba again that he (unintentionally) hurts him. he doesn’t understand the turmoil that mitsuba is going through because he is so afraid of losing him again.
the cannibalism thing is a metaphor!!!!!! that is why it’s been repeated twice now, first with sumire and hakubo, and now with mitsuba and kou. it symbolizes the codependency of these relationships and how it (literally!) eats the characters up inside!!!!
i just!!! i love tbhk guys!!! so much!!! it’s so good ^^
