I'm watching the deleted/extended scenes from Behind the mask the rise of Leslie Vernon and in the preparation scene after Taylor says "you love her don't you" he says what we see in the normal cut but the extended scene he says "everyone has a destiny, I'm hers " and knowing the twist that Taylor is the final girl that line is so much more impactful like holy shit, I'm gonna be thinking about this alot now.
Leslie why did you let Doug and Doc Halloran live? I thought everyone had to die that wasn't your survivor girl?
Leslie smiles. " I never technically said that everyone had to die. Taylor guessed that... And I just never contradicted her. Killing Doc Halloran could have been necessary but as an Ahab... Him coming back is useful to my legend."
He shrugs. " Doug... There was a combination of things there... I could tell he liked Taylor in a more romantic sense and I had a bit of sympathy for that... He also got very lucky..."
Leslie explains " Todd had actually thrown off my plan slightly... I was prepared for him to run... That's why he found the fields wet...But I was wrong about how much time it would eat... its a bit of a balancing act. "
" So when Doug got in my way... I took him out as quickly as I could... Honestly he could have died from the head trauma... People are much more fragile than you realize. " he chuckled
" But the fates were shining on him, I had to follow Taylor right away so no time to finish him off... She was alone...and if she hadn't been so scared she might have gone off plan." Leslie sighed happily.
"But despite me literally telling her my plan... Taylor followed it...and that's what made her perfect. She was so distracted by trying to beat me at my own game that she never thought to leave the confines of the box I tricked her into." Leslie sounded gleeful.
" In a lot of ways Doug and Doc Halloran living are good things. They up the stakes for Taylor if I reappear. " he nods sagely.
So I have Leslie and Taylor brainrot (and an AU I have planned out for a cosplay I'm planning) and OMG when I first heard that line and then go back to all the scenes that could point to her being his survivor girl just adds so much more to them both, even the scene where they're both sitting and having a chat before he leaves you see her not wanting to let go of his hand also I noticed as he leaves and Taylor says goodbye to him, he doesn't say it back, he knows that this isn't goodbye and that their story isn't over and now they're both forever connected to eachother no matter what and nothing will be able to change that now.
