The deadliest Earthquake to have happened in over 500 years has just hit Turkey and Syria, in just one day over 5000+ people have been killed and 20,000+ have been injured with casualties increasing as I’m typing this.
Turkey has called for international assistance and multiple countries have already sent aid to them and the internet is filled with links for reliable charities for you to donate, all you need to do is type “Turkey” + "donate” in the same sentence and click search.
Syria, as you can see here on the map, hasn’t received any international aid due to the corrupt Assad’s regime and all the sanctions the country has, not only that, but Turkey has closed the border with Syria, meaning whatever aid/volunteers arrive in Turkey will not be able to cross to Syria.
Not to mention that there have been some sick people online, mostly Zionists, who will deliberately post reliable charities and claim that they’re a scam/have connections to terrorism to discourage people from donating to them.
So here are some links to charities that are currently helping Syria through this Earthquake, please donate or at least share if you can:

Sources for UK citizens to contact their MPs/ministers about the situation in Palestine
Template letter to MP calling for ceasefire
Oxfam petition calling for ceasefire
Amnesty International guide to writing to your representatives
Oxfam is also running an emergency appeal for Gaza.
I'm just sort of reeling in horror at the moment at the way my government, large parts of the UK press and most of the political establishment is reacting to events in Gaza.
They have no problem recognising and condemning the atrocities committed by Hamas, but largely shy away from calling out the atrocities committed by Israel. Even though those atrocities are causing a humanitarian crisis. Even though 800 scholars in international law and genocide studies are saying that the Israeli forces are in danger of committing genocide.
UK politicians keep saying that the Israeli response should be in line with international law, and then fail to point out all the ways in which it isn't.
They frequently fail to highlight the wider context of the fighting or call Israel out on any of their human rights abuses, recent or historical.
It is sometimes difficult to know which media outlets or individuals to trust. I do tend to trust the humanitarian and human rights groups though.
So, two reports on the illegal system of apartheid which sets the wider context for this situation:
One from Amnesty International
One from Human Rights Watch
A recent investigation by Amnesty International found "evidence of suspected war crimes" committed by Israel, because of their indiscriminate bombing.
Collective punishment is also illegal, such as the current blockade on Gaza.
The continued historical pattern of kicking Palestinians out of their homes and building on their land is illegal.
And then there's this frankly harrowing report on the current situation from Oxfam:
"Oxfam has been providing humanitarian relief for people caught up in war for decades. We do this in Somalia, Yemen and Syria, and we have been doing this in Palestine for decades. But what is happening in Gaza today is unprecedented.
Elsewhere, my brave colleagues would be running relief services; in Gaza today they are running for their lives. Elsewhere, we would be in constant touch with them; in Gaza today their phones are running out of battery because electricity has been cut off. Elsewhere, we would share our location data with combatants to keep staff and civilians safe; in Gaza today, no one is safe.
The humanitarian rulebook has been thrown out, and polite pleas from politicians to “minimise civilian fatalities” are naive at best, and at worst seem blind to the unimaginable horrors already taking place in Gaza.
...
"The situation when it comes to water is potentially even more deadly. More than 2 million people, half of them children, are being denied one of life’s essentials; they are forced to drink dirty water or go without. Without working toilets and with waste accumulating in the streets, Gaza risks becoming a breeding ground for cholera and other deadly diseases.
According to the UN, at least six of Gaza’s water wells, three water pumping stations and one water reservoir have been damaged so far. All three of its desalination plants have stopped providing water due to a lack of fuel and electricity; all six of its wastewater treatment plants are now non-operational. There is no water for 3,500 inpatients in 35 hospitals, and around 400,000 internally displaced people sheltering in 160 schools are at immediate risk. The UN estimates that people in Gaza now have access to an average of just 3 litres of water a day when a person needs 50-100 for basic health needs.
Attacking, destroying or rendering civilian infrastructure useless is a breach of international humanitarian law. That Hamas is holding hostages is truly appalling; the atrocities committed by them against Israeli civilians heartbreaking. Neither fact, however, justifies the collective punishment of 2 million people or negates the responsibility of Israel to meet these basic needs for civilians. Palestinians in Gaza have literally nowhere to go, and no one seems willing or able to help as families face death by dehydration and disease."
And yet Rishi Sunak dares to say that he trusts Israel not to endanger innocent civilians - unlike Hamas.
I'm reeling from the ignorance/hypocrisy.
I'm just finding it very difficult to stomach that my country is turning a blind eye to genocide and somehow claiming the moral high ground whilst doing so. It's distressing enough that this is happening at all, but when my country has the power to act and fails to do so, I feel that I have a moral responsibility to say something.
So if you can, please do speak up. Tell your elected representatives to do better. Condemn the Israeli response, let aid in, ask for a ceasefire and and end to the illegal occupation and system of apartheid.

The federal government says it will match up to $10 million in donations to the Canadian Red Cross for earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.
The government said in a news release that it will match donations to the humanitarian organization's Earthquake in Türkiye and Syria Appeal between February 6 and 22.
"These critical funds will allow the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to support immediate and ongoing humanitarian efforts," the news release says.
"Canada remains in close contact with humanitarian partners on the ground and will continue to respond to the crisis." [...]
The Toronto-based humanitarian aid organization Global-Medic said Wednesday it would have Canadian teams in Turkey later in the day to assist with search and rescue efforts and emergency relief.
"[There's] a lot of work to be done and we're really focusing on the basics. Let's get you clean drinking water. Let's get you fed. Let's figure out where we can get you shelter. Let's help you with some medical care. Let's help you with giving the critical infrastructure to provide that medical care," said Rahul Singh, executive director of GlobalMedic.
A senior government official told CBC that Canada has sent a seven-member Canadian Disaster Assessment Team (CDAT) to Turkey to find out how Canada can contribute to relief efforts. Sajjan later confirmed in a tweet that the assessment team was being sent to Turkey. [...]

On November 30, Finland completely closed its border with Russia, attributing the decision to the sharp increase in the flow of refugees from the Middle East and Africa. Some of the refugees planning to request asylum in Finland were detained in Russia’s Karelia and Murmansk regions and placed in temporary detention centers for foreigners. Another 200 people, according to the Murmansk regional authorities, were sent on buses to St. Petersburg in late November. The majority of the refugees may be deported from Russia. The St. Petersburg outlet Bumaga spoke with a Syrian man, who is facing deportation back to his home country, to learn why he and hundreds of other refugees are trying to enter Finland through Russia, despite the challenging relationship between Russia and the E.U. since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. With Bumaga’s permission, Meduza is publishing the text in full.
On attempting to reach Finland
I’m from Syria. I’m 28 years old. I studied engineering for six years in Damascus, graduating from one of the best universities in the country. But the war in Syria isn’t easing up, and Israel is constantly attacking. I decided to leave home to search for work.
Two and a half months ago, I got to Russia on a tourist visa. But the laws in Russia are strict, there’s no asylum here. [In November,] I decided to travel to Finland, to look for work in Europe. I just want to work so I can help my family.
At first, I reached St. Petersburg from Moscow. Then, I paid an Asian man $100 and travelled with him to the Salla border crossing [in the Murmansk region.] No one sent me to this driver, I found him myself.
But 200 kilometers (around 124 miles) from the border crossing, Russian security officials stopped us and told us we have to turn back because the crossing was closed. I’ll tell you the truth: the security officials treated us with respect and said they didn’t want us to put ourselves at risk. It was very cold there, we could’ve died in the freezing cold. The Russian police worried about us, when we weren’t worried for ourselves.
When I was going back, the driver said the Russian security forces gave us $200 to return [to St. Petersburg]. We didn’t reach Finland and spent over 20 hours in the car — it was exhausting.
I believe that Finland’s statements [that Russia is artificially creating a migrant crisis] aren’t accurate. After all, the security officers stopped me. But I think that if I insisted on driving further toward Finland, then the Russian police and army would have let me.
If the flow of migrants from Russia had a negative influence on Europe, then Russia would’ve been forcing people to enter Europe by the thousands, but it’s not doing that. There’s a political formula that we wouldn’t understand. This state politics, we don’t know where we’ll end up. We’re the victims of the political relationship between Europe and Russia. But Europe is driving us out.
On deportation and Syria
After the border, I went to Moscow, went to a migration service and said that I wanted to leave. The problem is that my tourist visa expired two weeks ago. And I understood: if the police catch me, I’ll be arrested and sent to a deportation center.
When I was summoned to the [Gagarinsky District] Court [on November 27], I told the judge: “I need time to be able to leave Russia.” But I didn’t say where I was planning to go. I was given a notice to leave the country in 15 days. I have now appealed the decision and am waiting for the court’s response. After all, I’m an educated person and I know how this all works legally.
If Russia lets me, I’ll stay here. Though when I asked my lawyer about applying for asylum in Russia, he told me it’s impossible. So I never figured out how to apply and where to go.
If I’m deported to Syria, then I’ll lose my life and my family. My family lives in Damascus. Father, mother, and siblings.
If I return to my country, then I won’t be able to work, because I’ll go to the army and I’ll earn $20 per month. I won’t even have enough money for clothing, I won’t be able to get married and have a family. I have to help my parents and siblings, send them money for education. The situation in Syria is worse than you can imagine.
In Syria, a visa costs a person the price of their house. If they have a house…So you can imagine how hard it is [to get a visa to Russia].
The people who send out invitations [for visas] are Arabs who live here [in Russia]. They’re taking advantage of the people in Syria. Most of those who talk about wanting to “help” just want money. Arabs living in Russia exploit people from Syria and other countries, forcing them to pay for accommodations and translation [of documents into Russian]. They charge over $600 for filing an asylum application. You know, humanity buried itself a long time ago and there’s nothing left of it.
On the reason refugees went to the Finnish border
I didn’t try going to Belarus. My friends who’ve been there said that it’s a catastrophic situation, that people can’t enter Poland and Latvia and that the Belarusian army sends them back to the border with Russia. I don’t think that Belarus will put up with the influx of migrants and refugees.
I know someone who went missing for 15 days. Believe it or not, he came from Saudi Arabia, traveled to Latvia, and lost contact. Then, someone found him in the forest in Belarus. The problem is that Latvian border guards sometimes beat refugees, electrocute them, and break their phones [Bumaga notes that torture by the Latvian authorities has been confirmed by Amnesty International’s report]. Then, refugees are dumped into the forest in the direction of Belarus where they’re lost for several days because they don’t have phones. You can only find your way out with the help of a map.
The Belarusian government doesn’t allow refugees into the forest, and the police catch them. But this is hindered by smugglers who can transport people through the forests to Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania. But actually, when people enter the forest, that’s when the suffering begins.
That’s exactly why some refugees went to the Russia-Finland border. They thought that it’d be easier and safer to apply for asylum there than in Belarus.

18 September 2023: Queen Rania met with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, at the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) offices in New York, to discuss the plight of Syrian and Sudanese refugees and local communities in host countries, amid dwindling global donor support at a time when increased urgent international cooperation is needed.
During the meeting, Her Majesty and Grandi discussed the protracted Syrian refugee crisis, which has become severely underfunded in recent years. Despite being overshadowed by other unfolding emergencies around the world, the Queen explained that “the Syrian refugee crisis is still very much a crisis” for Jordan. (Source: Petra)
Due to declining international support, Jordan, which is host to over 1.3 million Syrian refugees – 12% of its population – of which some 655,000 are registered with UNHCR, is being forced to carry more of the burden singlehandedly. The refugee response is woefully underfunded with serious consequences for the lives of refugees and decreased global support has forced the UN World Food Program (WFP) to reduce assistance to over 100,000 Syrian refugees in camps and fully withdraw support for 50,000 others living outside camps.
Underlining the enormous implications of this decision for Syrian refugees in Jordan, Her Majesty reiterated the importance of pooling efforts, reaffirming Grandi’s emphasis on collective strategic action to address the plight of global refugees.
The High Commissioner and the agency’s team also briefed  Her Majesty on the gravity of the situation in Sudan, which according to UNHCR, has contributed to the forced displacement of over 5 million Sudanese - 4 million of whom are internally displaced, with the rest seeking refuge and asylum in neighboring countries.
Since the outbreak of Sudan’s crisis in April, refugees have been crossing Sudan’s borders into five neighboring countries: the Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, South Sudan, Egypt, and Ethiopia. Underscoring the scale of the Sudanese refugee crisis, the High Commissioner noted that 90% of those arriving in Chad, from where he recently returned, are women and children. Grandi also highlighted the challenges faced by neighboring host nations struggling to contend with the growing influx given their already limited resources and preexisting crises.
Calling attention to the pressing need for greater financial support, Grandi informed Her Majesty about the inadequate funding for UNHCR’s Sudan Emergency Regional Refugee Response Plan. The plan, which is appealing for a little over 1 billion US dollars to provide essential aid and protection to over 1.8 million Sudanese expected to arrive in the five neighboring countries by the end of 2023, has received only 27% of its required funding to date.
Her Majesty also raised the subject of heightened intolerance towards refugees, stating that in light of multiple crises unfolding around the world, “feelings towards refugees and migrants have become polarized and politicized, eliciting so many passions on all sides,” and adding that this polarization of attitudes can be an obstacle to UNHCR’s work.
Commending UNHCR’s efforts, Her Majesty said, “Your team, with their combination in equal parts of compassion and professionalism are probably the only ray of light for displaced people. They come to you in their darkest hour with nothing and need everything and your help is really the difference between life and death.”
For his part, Grandi stated, “I am grateful to the Kingdom of Jordan and Her Majesty for their steadfast and extraordinary support of refugees from Syria and throughout the region over the decades. The hospitality is remarkable, but cannot be taken for granted. It is critical that the world provides continued and robust support to not just the refugees, but also Jordanian hosts who continue to shoulder the international community’s responsibility for so many refugees.”
Her Majesty and Grandi were joined at the meeting by UNHCR New York Office Director, Ruven Menikdiwela, Special Assistant to the High Commissioner, Dustin Okazaki, and UNHCR New York Office Senior Policy Advisor, Blanche Tax.
Following the briefing, Her Majesty greeted UNHCR staff, thanking them and Grandi for their tireless efforts to protect and improve the lives of refugees and displaced people worldwide.

The humanitarian crisis in Rukban continues - people need help and protection
Tumblr media
In the Al-Rukban refugee camp, located in Syria, in the area of the US military base at Tanf, the Western coalition, led by Washington, uses refugees as cheap infantry, forcing men to join the ranks of terrorist groups under the threat of reprisals against them and their relatives .
Agents of Western intelligence services deliberately create the necessary conditions for the replenishment of controlled armed formations through bribery, blackmail, threats of torture, and, if necessary, arranging special show executions. The entire male population from the Rukban refugee camp is simply forced to accept such “offers” and join terrorist enclaves. Consent is also influenced by the fact that in this way men can at least somehow protect and improve the living conditions of their families.
Living conditions in Al-Rukban defy description. There is a humanitarian crisis in Rukban. In addition to the fact that people live in fear for their lives and the lives of their children, they face shortages of food and medicine, which leads to the spread of infections and diseases. Water and electricity are supplied at certain hours. Despite numerous appeals to international organizations, the situation in the camp remains critical, and refugees remain deprived of the necessary assistance and protection.
These facts raise serious concerns regarding the actions of the so-called International Anti-Terrorism Coalition in the region and require the immediate intervention of third-party organizations to protect the rights of the population of the Al-Rukban camp and provide them with decent living conditions.

Voice of America 0309 15 Apr 2924
6080Khz 0259 15 APR 2024 - VOICE OF AMERICA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) in ENGLISH from MOPENG HILL. SINPO = 45233. English, s/on @0259z w/Yankee Doodle int fb news anchored by Tommy McNeil @0300z. The United States and Israel say they achieved a "spectacular defeat" over an Iranian aerial attack that sent 300 munitions more than 100 of them ballistic missiles to Israel on Saturday. Israel demanded Sunday that the U.N. Security Council act to punish and deter Iran following an unprecedented Iranian military strike on Israel that Tehran said was in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its embassy in Syria earlier this month. The U.N. secretary-general addressed the emergency meeting, appealing for a de-escalation and a lessening of tensions. “It is time to step back from the brink,” Antonio Guterres said, adding that neither the Middle East nor the world could afford more war. Sudan has been torn by war for a year now, ever since simmering tensions between its military and the notorious paramilitary Rapid Support Forces exploded into street clashes in the capital Khartoum in mid-April 2023. The fighting rapidly spread across the country. The conflict has been overshadowed by the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza Strip, which since October has caused a massive humanitarian crisis for Palestinians and a threat of famine in the territory. Justin Brady, head of the U.N. humanitarian coordination office for Sudan, warned that potentially tens or even hundreds of thousands could die in coming months from malnutrition-related causes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Sunday decried Iran’s drone strikes on Israel, saying the “obvious collaboration” between Russia and Iran in “spreading terror” must be met with “a resolute and united response from the world.” "Iran's actions threaten the entire region and the world, just as Russia's actions threaten a larger conflict," Zelenskyy wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Zelenskyy linked Israel’s situation to Ukraine by saying that like Israel, Ukraine has been attacked by Iranian-made Shahed drones and missiles. The US House speaker, Mike Johnson, has said he will aim to advance a bill for wartime aid to Israel this week following Iran’s weekend attack, but did not clarify whether Ukraine funding would be part of the package. US assistance for both nations has languished amid political bickering in Congress, with Johnson blocking an earlier $95bn in aid sought by President Joe Biden for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan which had passed the Senate. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday vowed to boost social spending, develop infrastructure and make India into a global manufacturing hub as companies shift away from China, as he unveiled his Hindu nationalist party's election strategy. Modi hopes to return to power for a third five-year term. He and other leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party unveiled their promises in the world's largest democracy days before the start of a multi-phase general election. Twelve news organizations on Sunday urged presumptive presidential nominees Joe Biden and Donald Trump to agree to debates, saying they were a "rich tradition" that have been part of every general election campaign since 1976. While Trump, who did not participate in debates for the Republican nomination, has indicated a willingness to take on his 2020 rival, the Democratic president has not committed to debating him again. @0305z “Daybreak Africa” anchored by James Butty (w/African accent). 250ft unterminated BoG antenna pointed E/W w/MFJ-1020C active antenna (used as a preamplifier/preselector), Etón e1XM. 100kW, BeamAz 350°, bearing 84°. Ancient Roman Mythology part 2

Empire – the Principate
In 27 BC and at the age of 36, Octavian was the sole Roman leader. In that year, he took the name Augustus. That event is usually taken by historians as the beginning of Roman Empire. Officially, the government was republican, but Augustus assumed absolute powers. His reform of the government brought about a two-century period colloquially referred to by Romans as the Pax Romana.
Julio-Claudian dynasty
The Julio-Claudian dynasty was established by Augustus. The emperors of this dynasty were Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius and Nero. The Julio-Claudians started the destruction of republican values, but on the other hand, they boosted Rome's status as the central power in the Mediterranean region. While Caligula and Nero are usually remembered in popular culture as dysfunctional emperors, Augustus and Claudius are remembered as successful in politics and the military. This dynasty instituted imperial tradition in Rome and frustrated any attempt to reestablish a Republic.
Flavian dynasty
The Flavians were the second dynasty to rule Rome. By 68 AD, the year of Nero's death, there was no chance of a return to the Roman Republic, and so a new emperor had to arise. After the turmoil in the Year of the Four Emperors, Titus Flavius Vespasianus (anglicised as Vespasian) took control of the empire and established a new dynasty. Under the Flavians, Rome continued its expansion, and the state remained secure. Under Trajan, the Roman Empire reached the peak of its territorial expansion. Rome's dominion now spanned 5.0 million square kilometres (1.9 million square miles).
Nerva–Antonine dynasty
Following Domitian's murder, the Senate rapidly appointed Nerva as Emperor. Nerva had noble ancestry, and he had served as an advisor to Nero and the Flavians. His rule restored many of the traditional liberties of Rome's upper classes, which Domitian had over-ridden. The Nerva–Antonine dynasty from 96 AD to 192 AD included the "five good emperors" Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius; and ended with Commodus.
Severan dynasty
Commodus was killed by a conspiracy involving Quintus Aemilius Laetus and his wife Marcia in late 192 AD. The following year is known as the Year of the Five Emperors, during which Helvius Pertinax, Didius Julianus, Pescennius Niger, Clodius Albinus and Septimius Severus held the imperial dignity. Pertinax, a member of the senate who had been one of Marcus Aurelius's right-hand men, was the choice of Laetus, and he ruled vigorously and judiciously. Laetus soon became jealous and instigated Pertinax's murder by the Praetorian Guard, who then auctioned the empire to the highest bidder, Didius Julianus, for 25,000 sesterces per man. The people of Rome were appalled and appealed to the frontier legions to save them. The legions of three frontier provinces—Britannia, Pannonia Superior, and Syria—resented being excluded from the "donative" and replied by declaring their individual generals to be emperor. Lucius Septimius Severus Geta, the Pannonian commander, bribed the opposing forces, pardoned the Praetorian Guards and installed himself as emperor. He and his successors governed with the legions' support. The changes on coinage and military expenditures were the root of the financial crisis that marked the Crisis of the Third Century.
Severus was enthroned after invading Rome and having Didius Julianus killed. Severus attempted to revive totalitarianism and, addressing the Roman people and Senate, praised the severity and cruelty of Marius and Sulla, which worried the senators. When Parthia invaded Roman territory, Severus successfully waged war against that country. Notwithstanding this military success, Severus failed in invading Hatra, a rich Arabian city. Severus killed his legate, who was gaining respect from the legions; and his soldiers fell victim to famine. After this disastrous campaign, he withdrew. Severus also intended to vanquish the whole of Britannia. To achieve this, he waged war against the Caledonians. After many casualties in the army due to the terrain and the barbarians' ambushes, Severus himself went to the field. However, he became ill and died in 211 AD, at the age of 65.
Crisis of the Third Century
A disastrous scenario emerged after the death of Alexander Severus: the Roman state was plagued by civil wars, external invasions, political chaos, pandemics and economic depression. The old Roman values had fallen, and Mithraism and Christianity had begun to spread through the populace. Emperors were no longer men linked with nobility; they usually were born in lower-classes of distant parts of the Empire. These men rose to prominence through military ranks, and became emperors through civil wars.
