More Random Shepard Headcanons

-Tim’s biggest fear is losing either of his younger siblings. Partially because he’s done enough raising hem that they’re basically his kids, but also because he knows that Angela would go properly insane and lose her mind completely if something ever happened to Curly (and vice versa)

-Angela kind of loves when she gets a sore throat since her voice gets all sultry and husky like Sylvia’s

-Curly and Angela had a phase where they just…tortured bugs for no reason other than curiosity and it sketched out a lot of members of the Shepard gang (Tim was unphased). Just imagine these two tiny kids with big blue eyes coaxing a bunch of beetles into one of their mom’s empty liquor bottles and then dropping in a lit match ‘just to see what they would do’

-The twins used to fight each other at home but tag team fights at school. Angela would tackle a kid and hold their shoulders down while Curly made them eat dirt

-Tim’s a great liar but Curly and Angela always know when he’s not telling the truth. He doesn’t have a physical tell, they just know. It’s not very helpful in the long run anyway since they’ve never figured out a way to get Tim to tell them anything he doesn’t want to

-Curly was absolutely that kid who cut his own hair the first time he was given safety scissors in first grade, and Tim was HORRIFIED, not because he’d cut a chunk out or because it looked lowkey terrible but because no brother of his was gonna look like a soc

-Tim kind of hated Darry Curtis in high school, but after he saw how Darry stepped up to look after his siblings when the Curtis parents died, he gained a newfound respect for him. He even offered Darry to do some deals for him to earn extra money but Darry (obviously) declined

-Angela is the only person who knows Curly is smarter than people give him credit for because she’s the only one who can tell that he often plays dumb to get out of trouble

-Both Angela and Curly can cook decently well because before they were old enough to use the stove Tim cooked every night and the only things he knows how to make half decently are beans and rice, or eggs. They got tired of his cooking after a while but never ever complained because sometimes there were days where they didn’t have any food at all, and boring food is better than no food, always.

-All three of them get into screaming matches with their mother, but Angela is by far the most vicious and the only one who ever resorts to physical violence

-The first time Tim was sent to reform school was when one of their mom’s boyfriends made a lewd comment about a then eight year old Angela and Tim beat him almost to death

-Curly has had a weird fascination with Ponyboy Curtis ever since kindergarten and neither Angela nor Tim ever really understood why. However, neither of them were particularly surprised years later when Curly and Ponyboy started dating

-Angela has always been jealous of the Curtis’ and because of this she’s kind of always hated them, though she hates Sodapop a bit less since she finds his friend Steve really fucking funny. 

-Tim will sometimes get Sylvia to nudge Angela towards a party while he causally brings up Ponyboy’s name to Curly so the twins will both inevitably be gone for a few hours. That way he and Sylvia can hang out without the twins around arguing for once 

-When Angela was little she used to eavesdrop by staying quiet and hiding under the kitchen table

-Curly is REALLY good at forging signatures. He signed every single one of his and Angela’s report cards and failed tests growing up

-Sylvia answers the phone if the school ever calls asking to speak to the Shepard’s mother. In return, Tim pretended to be her husband so she could open a bank account for herself. They got Curly to forge them a half decent marriage certificate though they both agreed they’d have been better off without it if they’d known ahead of time how many jokes about ‘proving themselves the old married couple everyone suspected them to be’ Curly was gonna make 

-Curly talks in his sleep, Tim never makes a sound, and Angela snores

more rambling about a s5 au: lindsey comes back for a redemption arc to act as legal counsel for angel's team. this ostensibly gives gunn a reason to opt out of the lawyer operation, but he does it anyway because he doesn't trust lindsey not to fuck them over.

lindsey acts as a moral foil to gunn, who comes to believe his necessary contribution to the team (since he's no longer their only lawyer) is being the defender of the group's principles while working at w&h. they frequently butt heads while working on a case, but eventually develop a begrudging respect of each other's respective strengths.

this hostile-to-friendly-rivalry arc is tested when it comes out that w&h was responsible for some demon problem that's been plaguing gunn's home community. gunn has, unbeknownst to himself, been somehow contributing to it while working at w&h; lindsey knowingly contributed to it when he was last working there as a lawyer. lindsey is forced to confront who he was, while gunn is forced to confront who he’s becoming.

since he was involved in the project, lindsey uses his insider knowledge to help come up with a plan to fix the problem. they execute it, something goes wrong, and lindsey risks his life to ensure the plan goes off successfully. he expects congratulations and a pat on the back from gunn, but gunn isn't interested in absolving lindsey's sins (or his own), and their warming relationship freezes over.

at some point, gunn lets himself get taken by the senior partners in an effort to deal with his guilt over various lapses in judgment/perceived moral failures. during their rescue mission to the holding dimension, lindsey stays behind in gunn's place so he can escape, assuring gunn that he's the lawyer the team needs right now. their mutual arcs culminate in lindsey rejecting the idea that redemption is done for recognition, and gunn rejecting the idea that guilt/self-punishment is inherently redemptive.

eventually after being busted out by illyria, lindsey is there to empathize with gunn about losing parts of yourself (body, mind, and/or soul) to w&h, relationships to power when you've grown up without it, and what it means to live with the consequences of your actions. both of them reflect on the nature of redemption/forgiveness/intent as they grapple with how to own up to an appropriate share of the blame.

Shepard siblings headcanons in no particular order:

-Tim braids Angela’s hair and he’s the only person who she ever lets do it

-Tim and Sylvia are best friends

-Tim actually really likes babies and has a soft sport for them. He's good with them too, manages to get them to stop crying without much trouble and anytime Sylvia is babysitting for someone she always asks Tim for help.

-Angela can dance but she can’t sing

-Curly can sing but he can’t dance

-Tim can do both but would kill anyone who found out about either

-The Shepard house is tiny but Tim point blank refuses to share his room so Angela and Curly have to share. Disputes over who gets the room and when are their biggest source of fighting and Tim’s biggest source of headaches.

-Angela and Curly are twins, but Curly is older by seven minutes. More often than not Angela still treats him like a little brother tho

-Tim has taken the fall for some of Curly’s criminal activities in the past so Curly wouldn’t have to go to reform school

-Dally is to Tim what Curly is to Ponyboy in that they’re both terrible for each other and cause each other to make bad decisions

-Curly gets mad but Tim gets even. Angela does both.

-Though he'll never admit it Curly is softer than both Angela and Tim and they’re both absurdly protective in their own way

-The burn Curly got from playing chicken with Ponyboy got mad infected and Angela helped him hide it from Tim because they were both already in trouble at the time (and were a little afraid of what Tim would do if he found out)

-Angela hates kids. Point blank period

-Both Curly and Angela are really small for their age partially because they’re twins and partially because they were malnourished as kids and still don’t really eat enough. Curly absolutely hates it.

-Both Curly and Angela’s biggest fear is something happening to Tim ever since that one time he got stabbed pretty badly and they weren’t sure he was going to make it

-The only reason he did is because Curly was at the Curtis’ place when Darry taught them first aid, and he managed to remember some stuff and keep a cool head

-Angela fusses an absurd amount when Curly gets sick because he almost died of hypothermia after falling in a river when he was nine

-All three of them have the worst sweet tooth, except Tim likes chocolate and Angela and Curly like candy
