I'm editing more of that drg70 fic and I forgot this exchange even happened, so I just really have the need to share it

With her energy back somewhat and ability to walk returned, Surkukteni was anxious. She wanted to move, she wanted to do something — she had energy that needed to be burnt off in spite of the numbness that still lingered, for she felt she might explode if she didn’t. She was of one mind as she approached Estinien at camp one antsy evening, hoping her luck would win out: “Let’s spar,” she said, shoving him lightly in the shoulder to get his attention. She really should’ve known at that point not to test her luck with him. Estinien blinked, staring up at her before his mild surprise turned to a frown. “No,” was all he said before turning back to the gauntlet held in un-gauntleted hands. “Why not?” Her arms crossed over her chest (Like a petulant child.), looking down at him as he refused to look up at her. His thumb tapped against the metal like the question irked him far more than he was outwardly letting on. “If you really want to lose that badly and potentially set us further back because you reopened the wound, then by all means: let’s.” He cast a sidelong glance up at her, gauntlet carefully set in his lap. But quickly it turned into a deeply disappointed look as he looked up at her properly. “Oh for gods’ sake, I was being facetious.” “And I’m being serious! Let’s fight!” But Estinien didn’t budge.

Shadowbringers was a nightmare for Surkukteni. From all she'd put on the line with little to gain, she's emotionally drained - not at all helped by her brother's romantic drama that resulted in him being even closer with his two partners. Needless to say, the loneliness and ache in her chest has been fairly prevalent for quite some time now. All she wants is company - physical or otherwise - but she's not even officially with Estinien and she still wants for his company?

A bit of a tangent from that 5.1 scene where Estinien shows up to recount what happened in Garlemald. Lots of yearning in this one, especially with these two emotionally constipated dumbasses that just need to confess already.

Surkukteni doesn't want to go back to the Doman Warfront. The events of the Naadam left a sour taste in her mouth, but at least being the Khagan makes her search for Orn Khai's mother easier. But what isn't easier is that Orn Khai wants to bring another along with them; a man Surkukteni thought she'd never see again: Estinien.

Rewrite and diverging canon for DRG60-70. Follows somehow, silence hurts the most chronologically (not super required, but I still suggest reading it first) and follows the reconciliation attempts between Surkukteni and Estinien after their falling out in Heavensward. First arc is finding Faunehm, second is trying to tease out how they can work together, third is the Oh Fuck arc where the E rating comes in.

But for some reason, Estinien keeps winning and he knows something is up. This is basically just an excuse to pick apart Surkukteni's vie for power and where that's taken her, especially about how isolated she feels the further she gets into MSQ.

A rare break allows Surkukteni to go back to her apartment with her partner for some alone time. While there, she goes to tend to her greenhouse-worthy amount of plants she keeps in there while Estinien decides to go find something to amuse himself with while she works. She was expecting to have to answer for the amount of plants she kept; she wasn't expecting him to take interest in the pale blue brightlillies she kept on her desk, nor that he'd guess accurately as to why she kept them.

Surkukteni's not having a fun time looking for the leader of the Heretics. Stuck in this perma-blizzard with the clothes she had when she fled from Ul'dah, the last thing she wants to do is be chatty - not that Estinien would listen. A bit of a prequel to handicapped, this fic focuses on their respective goals and beliefs that drive them. Good or bad, it's a tense conversation and totally not going to come back to bite either of them :)

It's finally onto rescuing Faunehm. Thankfully, things go as planned; worryingly, Surkukteni still feels hollow after it. Why did it upset her to see Orn Khai reunited with his mother? Even as she's wrapping things up with Estinien, shouldn't she be glad that the job is over?

Wrap up of the first arc of this fic, as the next chapter is getting into the second arc! Kinda short since it was kind of wonky splitting chapters here, but we're starting to get into the meat of them repairing their relationship!

The fight with Faunehm went about as poorly as Surkukteni had expected it to go, only for it to then exceed her low expectations and further send her spiralling. Reopened wounds to her body and her pride set her in a dour mood, so it was only to be expected that Her Darkness should manifest to torment her ceaselessly. But lo and behold, it wasn't just her dark reflection that'd be the only one to confront her whilst she suffered through the worst of her wounds.

It's not often that you come across the Warrior of Light deeply asleep, let alone in such a vulnerable position - but this is exactly how Estinien finds Surkukteni in her apartment. Mostly a bit of a wandering thing (or y'know, musing) with Estinien, how he ended up in this position compared to how he was during the Dragonsong War, and reflecting on his relationship with Surkukteni. Surkukteni begins her detour to find the tribe she ran from, and in the process find her mother. As annoying as Estinien could be, Surkukteni is - nonetheless - glad to have him as a companion while she tries to seek closure for herself. But maybe, she's beginning to realize, it's inappropriate to ask a man orphaned by war to look for her still-living mother. Further, maybe it's a bit inappropriate to continue to pester that same man about his feelings for his best and only friend of a decade and why he refuses to act on it.

Six Sentence Sunday

So last week I got tagged by @mxkelsifer for this and it might've. slipped my mind. So no time like the present, right?? 💀

Anyways, rules are you post 6 sentences from one of your drafts. Which is an evil thing to tag me in since I'm a frequent purple prose writer. But also I'm breaking it anyways because this doesn't make sense without the final sentence, so I Guess it's 7 now.

With a heavy sigh failing to return her voice, Surkukteni stood, catching Estinien’s attention nigh instantly. He watched as she moved to where he sat, situating herself at his side and pressing the side of her head into his thankfully-not-armored shoulder. It was almost instantaneous, how he stiffened at the touch yet said nothing. He carried a hesitant look, yet his voice betrayed naught of what his body and posture screamed. “What are you doing?” was something almost...fearful? “Trying to be nice,” she muttered, forcing it through the blockage. “Unless you’d rather I not be.”

part of a larger exchange involving talking about people they loved that passed, and Surkie getting overwhelmed by reminders of Ysayle that has her lose her voice from the stress of it. idk I like this scene, especially since it shifts into her having to use her journal to communicate and the scene lingers longer than the last time I'd written her going mute. It's also just another scene solidifying their attempts at rebuilding their friendship and actively showing how much closer they are now than back when

It was just supposed to be a standard clean-up job. Go into St. Mocianne's Arboretum, deal with the animate plant life there, and leave. Surkukteni had expected her brother to be a pain in the ass; she expected their little sister to also be a pain in the ass, but more of an annoying way than judgemental.

She hadn't expected Estinien to disappear on her.

Excuse to write something spicy in the apartment because I like Estinien having an oral fixation.

More recovery, more trying to figure out where Surkukteni and Estinien stand. While they have agreed to try and work things out between them for Orn Khai's sake, it doesn't make it any less awkward to pick up where they left off prior to the tension between them. Regardless, they try. Three different moments before the final fight with Faunehm, focusing on various headcanons and touching on the side story where Estinien gets the Iceheart armor. Obviously gets a bit emo here (especially wrt Surkie/Ysayle), but it's good bonding and figuring out how to move forward for the both of them.

I can put them together!!!! \O/

Euodia, Charikleia, and Uyanga! I have NO idea where they are timeline wise, but whatever it is, is after Tseren.

They're referred to as the triplets but that's just simplifying the fact that they were born on the same day. Euodia and Charikleia are the actual twins, and it's that fun situation of how fraternal twins can have entirely different sires. Meaning there's overlap between these three and who they're related to. Euodia is a surkysayle kid, Charikleia is an ysaylevenat kid, and Uyanga is a surkiestinien kid.

More in depth stuff below, because yeah discussion around pregnancy (planned and unplanned) and infertility but it's - at its core - more relationship dynamic stuff + relevant info about the kids

The actual twins are Ysayle's, and the plan was to have a child with Venat. The black hair is a thing because that's Ysayle's original hair color (hc) which ties back to her ancient self, Khione. This is also why she wanted to have a child with Venat because of how Venat wasn't able to have kids with her original partners due to Charon's dysphoria and Khione's infertility. So the plan was A child, but they weren't against the idea of twins; Ysayle just found the news a bit exhausting since Tseren wiped her out and she remembers how Surkie was with Yukiko and Toskr.

Same time as this, Surkie and Estinien talk about having another kid together since the first time they did was unplanned and right before an apocalyptic event, and having a second try at it when shit isn't falling apart and having it not be so damn stressful is something they would both like - especially since it gives Surkie an excuse to slow down and just not have to do WoL stuff for a year or so, which means more time with what kids they already have.

Obvs both groups talk it out and they're thinking that it's going to be staggered since they're now actively trying, but both Surkie and Ysayle are pregnant and very early on when this happens. Surkie's got the one kid, Ysayle turns out to have twins. They assume they're both Venat's, so seeing horns and scales confuses everyone and really deeply embarrasses Surkie for. Reasons. But that's part of why Euodia's name is Greek - Surkie refused to claim any naming rights to her. Venat literally doesn't care though, she thinks it's both funny and sweet - like why would she be against something that effectively encapsulated their triad?

All three were born on the same day so they're triplets for simplicity's sake. The fact that Venat can have kids in this vessel is something she's deeply grateful for and very emotional over - especially since said child looks so much like if she and Khione had managed to have a child. Because hi, I really like exploring that motherhood theme in Venat through her being a trans woman.

Euodia is likely to have similar weird stuff going on like Tseren, but it's Uyanga they're concerned about. They don't think there'll be much weird stuff wirh Charikleia, all things considered, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Uyanga, though, was carried by a parent who fused with a Voidsent and is a very terrifying dark knight, and sired by a coerthan elezen who's still got the whole nidhogg's aether going on. Hence the eyes, and hence concerns similar to Yukiko; except Yukiko was born before the Voidsent stuff. Uyanga is a major wildcard.
