"A Green Queen" AU

Intervention: 9.5

Bowser gasped as he looked around at the light rustic void, it was empty yet slightly furnished with floating tables, chairs and scattered hearts.

"LUIG-", he yelled. His crimson eyes slowly being overtaken with a deep turquoise. "Not again..."

The color left his body until all that remained were his blue eyes. He collapsed on all fours growling to himself in regret.

Why was it so hard for him to just say something? Why didn't he just grab them and dash for the exit?

With the thoughts literally swirling around him, he looked down to see an empty hole in the middle of his body. He teared up as he saw his beating blue heart poking out slightly from the crevice and sat up to inspect it.

He reached out to touch it, but hesitated. Ultimately, he left it alone and began to recollect the horror in Luigi's eyes as he flung him and his brother to the side. He bit his lip in pain, a bit of blue in seeping from his heart once he heard Luigi yell something to him.

He groaned as he hung his head back and stomped furiously to himself.

"Why the fuck did I save him.", He roared. "I just had to fuck this up too, didn't I?!"

He huffed, heavily breathing colorless fire to distract the tears. "I SHOULD'VE JUST TAKEN HIM!"

He slammed his fist to the ground as he finally let the tears fall from his eyes. The cracks grew from beneath his fists as the tears dripped onto them.

Thoughts and words began to fly around his head the more contemplated his mistakes into the void, clouding his vision. He swatted at them, barely denting the visualized words flowing around his eyes.

'Useless'

'Slow'

'Pathetic'

'Weak'

He had had enough and pleadingly roared at them to stop.

It echoed, the sheer force pushed the furniture floating far into the void. He clenched his eyes closed bracing for the next wave, but opened them seeing nothing except for the wall in front of him.

Return?

On it, were black words freshly sprayed, seemingly glitching.

The ink from the larger letters at the top dripped onto the colored selections below.

[Yes] [No]

The streaks gathered on the ground leaving a small pool of ink below them. He'd been here before with the countless of times he was defeated, but this time it felt different.

"Do you really want to go back?"

Bowser looked at the options confused. The pools of sea blue eyes flowed, which further cleared his vision.

In his past states of unconsciousness, he'd never seen the second option.

A voice echoed. Bowser stepped forward, pushing away several chairs and cushions that began to float down towards him.

"I have to get back.. The kingdom-"

"It will be fine."

"My children won't! Junior needs a strong father to protect him and his siblings!"

"They'll have each other and Kamek. The kingdom will embrace them."

"I NEED TO GET BACK!"

"Why?"

Bowser puffed up what little of his chest he had left and stomped forward.

"Because there's someone I want... No, someone I need to pay my debts to. My kingdom is strong, however I want to see how much stronger it's become."

"Stronger?"

"You heard me. Plus, I have a score to settle with a shitty kitten."

As Bowser approached the selection, holographic buttons floated forward.

The [Yes], glitching wildly.

He watched it as he raised his claw over it slowly. He was making the greater choice, right? What did he have to fear?

Koopalings Headcanon Time!

This is going to have some spoilers for the Super Mario Bros. Movie, so you've been warned!

The Koopalings, aka Ludwig, Iggy, Morton, etc. aren't Bowser's kids, but they're his nephews and niece. He basically adopted them and treats them like his own children Jr. on the other hand is still his son. The reason why they weren't in the movie was because Bowser had them somewhere else until after the wedding to keep them safe.
