Maybe y'all figured this out on your own but my nine-year old kid had to point it out to me. His theory is that Seiji lost to Sungchul ON PURPOSE because he decided to take Aiden's advice and hold back.
I think there's evidence to support this:
1. Immediately prior to that match, Seiji is talking to Scott about this very topic:
2. After the match, Seiji doesn't really get upset about losing (which is NOT in character). In fact, his face here looks almost cunning:
3. Jesse says Sungchul won because of "Seiji’s error."
I don't know enough about fencing to understand what else it could have been other than Seiji's error (Sungchul fencing really well?) But it certainly seems like if it was Seiji's error, Seiji could have made the error on purpose.
Thoughts?!?

Also I'm sorry but can we talk about how BASED Sungchul is? That is the exact word. He is badass he is king. Wym "Im not even that into fencing Scott got me from the pentathlon I figured I might as well win nationals while I'm at it" HUH?!? LIKE YOU UNDERSTAND THIS IS A BOY WHO IS NOT THAT INTO FENCING and he's made it just below Seiji and Jesse who have been training their WHOLE LIVES. Seiji and Jesse who have dedicated their LIVES to the sport, who have trained since they could walk, and this guy just waltzes in well versed in (at least) FIVE other sports who, a year prior, hasn't even considered fencing enough to compete in it in particular-- and he is catching up. It is pretty obvious the gap between him and the top two is pretty big, but STILL-- THIRD NATIONALLY? My guy. My BOY. I knew I did good on fixating on u for no reason

Fic: Pink Nightmare
Fandom: FENCE
Wordcount: 100
Summary: "You think it was another supply room incident?" "You have those at your school as well?"
What "supply room incidents" look like at Halverton.
Here's another Small Fandoms drabblethon drabble! I really enjoyed this one xD I thought it would be fun to write a fic about Halverton's "supply room incidents" (you KNOW there's a story there), and my friend gave me the very off-the-wall prompt "pink nightmare" which was just the right level of weird to spark inspiration xD
---
The first sign of something amiss is a crash, followed by fluent cursing in Italian.
Scott closes his eyes. Gian and Van have an ongoing prank war, and in hindsight it was stupid to send them to the supply room together.
Minutes later, the two reappear, Gian looking smug and Van looking furious. His hair is covered with pink glitter.
"What-" begins Scott. Van draws himself up indignantly.
"Gian has turned my beautiful hair into this - PINK NIGHTMARE!"
Sungchul loses the battle with peals of laughter. Scott pinches the bridge of his nose.
"You're both banned from the supply room."

Fence headcanons? (Any of the schools)
I have a lot of Fence headcanons on my blog! You can check out my pinned post here :)
Here’s a few of my favorite headcanons from those previous posts:
- Seiji has a dad sneeze.
- Seiji is a dog person.
- Nicholas likes to sit on the floor, otherwise he sits in funky positions on chairs. Seiji doesn’t understand why Nicholas would rather do his homework on the floor when there is a perfectly good desk in their dorm room.
- Seiji secretly enjoys Nicholas’ endless prattling. It reminds him of his mom talking the ear off of his dad, but his dad would always fondly listen. Seiji is starting to understand why.
- Nicholas has quiet footsteps. His fencing footwork might need some improvement, but outside of the piste he has very light and quiet steps. It startles Seiji sometimes how Nicholas can appear out of nowhere.
Here’s a few new headcanons that came to me recently:
- Nicholas has a mole on the back of his neck (And maybe somewhere on his back too? I don’t believe Seiji is the only one out there with a mole on his body. A flat mole though, so Nicholas wouldn’t have been aware of it, at least tactically).
- Seiji speaks fluent Japanese (not a groundbreaking headcanon, but I still really like it. I think Nicholas likes Seiji’s voice in Japanese, too 🤭).
- Scott (Langtree) used to live in Australia, and because of that has become the designated bug-kiIIer at Halverton. He’s unfazed when a cricket or spider makes its way into the salle.
- Sungchul (Park) has two older sisters. He’s a bit of a loner though, and doesn’t really like it when they smother him with attention.
- Jesse is prone to paper cuts, and as a byproduct of that, has quite an extensive bandage collection 🩹🩹
- Thomas (Leventis, sunshine twin) likes to bake as a hobby. However, pie is the one thing he’s been unable to master (Pie crust is just so hard to get right! But that’s fine, he’d rather bake muffins, bars, or cookies over pie any day) 🧁🧁🧁
- Aster (Leventis, grumpy twin) is a hardcore Stardew Valley fan. His brother even gifted him a straw hat for his birthday ✨👒✨
- Nate (Spencer) likes bird watching 🦆🦜🦉
Please interact or send more asks, I’d love to talk about my headcanons 😭🤲
