zdzisław beksiński is possibly the most recognisable modern polish artist and is well known for his dark apocalyptic scenes but the painting i first think about whenever i hear his name isnt any of the scary ones

"never more" was painted after beksiński's son went through his first suicide attempt. it was meant to give him hope and strength for better days to come and is a reference to edgar allan poe's "the raven" which was a poem he loved. i genuinely think this is one of the most beautiful paintings ever made

I really like that the series preserved free will by disproving the Prez and Sayoko’s theory that somebody needs to die no matter what/fate needs a body and all that by having komachi. Especially since prez comments on the number of near death incidents skyrocketing since Satsuki’s arrival when komachi arrived the same year

i think the like interesting moral questions posed by the series would still work even if it was a true final destination type situation, but i agree its a fun lil misdirect and leads to more interesting conflict overall. especially bc komachi being the source (if even that is true, i still have some doubts..) means its no longer even a question of "would you let one person die to potentially save the lives of many more down the line" its a question of "would you let your friend, arguably your first real friend in years who treated you with kindness when no one else would, kill herself to ease some of your pain, and save the lives of many down the line". which is INSANE frankly.
