Tumblrユーザーボイス: 埼玉県在住・Sugiichiさん。

朝起きて、外から小鳥のさえずりが聞こえてくると、心が和みませんか？鳥と一口に言ってもいろいろいますが、今回インタビューをお願いしたSugiichiさんはカワセミに魅せられ、バードウォッチング・野鳥の写真撮影にハマってしまったそうです。ブログ「Sugiichi Bird Cage」には、さまざまな野鳥の写真がずらりと並びます。好きなもののいい写真が撮れると嬉しいですよね。同じ趣味を持つ人たちとそんな気持ちを共有できるというのも、Tumblrの醍醐味のひとつ。暖かくなってきたこの時期、皆さんもカメラや双眼鏡を持って、自然の中へ野鳥観察に出かけませんか？

- まずは、簡単な自己紹介＋ブログ／プロジェクト紹介をお願いいたします。

関東で建築関係の仕事をしているアラフィフです。10年ほど前から都市公園で見たカワセミに魅せられ、野鳥の写真にのめりこんでいます。最初はコンデジから始めたのですが、どんどん機材が大きくなっていきます(^^;;。ブログを始めたきっかけは、鳥専門の写真投稿サイトに写真をアップし始めたことです。当初は、鳥友に「先日こんなのを撮ったよ～」と知らせる程度の気持ちでアップしていました。その後そのサイトが閉鎖になり、あるSNSに移行しました。そちらで少しづつですが、いろんな方からの反響があり投稿することが楽しくなっていきました。しかし、そのサイトも閉鎖(><)。いろいろ探した結果、Tumblrを見つけ現在に至ります。鳥のいろいろな表情を紹介していけたらと思っています。

- Sugiichiさんにとってバードウォッチングの面白さ、楽しさとはどんなところですか？

季節ごとに出会える鳥が変わりますし、ときには迷い鳥に会えることもあります。まさしくリアルポケモンです。身近な鳥を撮っていても、出会えた場所やタイミングによって鳥の表情が違います。かわいい表情を撮影できると嬉しいですね。自然の中を歩き回って探したり、時には何時間も動かないで目当ての鳥が現れるのを待ったり、自然の中に溶け込んでいる感じも好きです。鳥を探しに行った先での人との出会いも楽しいです。年に数回遠征するのですが、そういった場所で鳥談議にふけるのは楽しいですよ。

- Sugiichiさんが特に大好きな鳥、思い入れのある鳥は何ですか？

鳥を撮り始めたきっかけはカワセミなので、どうしても目に入ると撮ってしまいます。一番撮っているのはエナガとセッカでしょうか。どちらも小さな体ですが、かわいいですよ～。アクロバティックな動きをするのもいいですね。

- 遠征はどんなところへ行かれますか？

奥日光には毎年数回行きます。1年を通して鳥の種類が豊富です。ここ数年は毎年1回、石川県の舳倉島という離島に行ってます。渡り鳥が立ち寄る場所で、かなりレアな鳥にも会える可能性があります。あとは関東の海や山ですね。いつか、初夏や冬の北海道に行ってみたいです。

- たくさんの鳥に出会えるようにするには、どんなことに気をつけたらいいでしょうか？

動きや鳴き声などを見逃さないように目を凝らして…小鳥が好きな木の実がたわわになっているところで粘ったりもしますね。あとは、ほかのカメラマンに声をかけながら情報収集したり。見つけたら、興奮してどんどん近づきたくなりますが、じっとその場で我慢。カメラマンの目にはかなり敏感なのでこちらが動くと向こうも動きます。じっとしていると、うまくいけば向こうから近づいてきてくれます。フィールドで追っかけまわしている人もいますが…。

- カメラ道具は追い求めればキリがなくなってしまいますよね。もしよければこれまでお使いの機材の変遷、オススメの機材などを教えていただけますか？

私の機材は、一眼レフにしてからは、本体はキャノンEOS50D→7D→7DMK2です。去年7DMK2を水没させてしまったので、2代目です。レンズは最初BORGという望遠鏡を使ってました。とてもキレのある写真を撮ることができたのですが、マニュアルフォーカスのためシャッターチャンスを逃すことが多かったです。数年前からEF400mm F5.6L USMを使用。軽くて使いやすいですが、手振れ補正がないので暗い森の中では三脚必須です。今はロクヨン（編集注：EF600mm F4L IS II USM）がほしくてほしくて…子供が学生のうちは無理だろうな～～～。

おすすめは、キャノンなら7DMK2+EF100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS II USM、ニコンならD500+ AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VRですかね。フィールドでかなり多くの方が使っている組み合わせです。特にニコンの組み合わせはテレコンも組み合わせることができるうえ軽いです。周りの人が使っている組み合わせだと、設定などを教えてもらったりすることができるので助かることもあります。

- 鳥にたくさん出会うには、じっと待つ辛抱が必要ということですが、季節ごとにどんな対策を取られていますか？

冬はひたすら着ます。下半身は、タイツ、ジーンズ、防寒ズボンの3枚。上半身は何枚着てるかわからないくらいなので、モコモコになってあまり動けません(＾＾;;。動くときは、使い捨てカイロを背中に何個か貼り付けたりします。夏は半そでシャツに短パンで行きたいのですが、森の中は虫に食われたりするので長袖長ズボンです。干潟に行くときはサンダルに短パンで、水につかりながら撮ってます。

- 鳥発見の手がかりとなる鳥の鳴き声を判別するのは非常に難しいと思うのですが、どんなふうに勉強されていますか？

狙いの鳥の鳴き声はネットで調べたりしてます。YouTubeなどでかなり変わった鳥の鳴き声まで探せますよ。

- 今後Sugiichiさんが挑戦してみたいこと、夢や目標などを教えてください。

初夏や冬の北海道と、小笠原諸島、奄美大島、宮古島、石垣島などに行ってみたいですね。固有種もいますし。あとは、鳥だけでなく水中写真もやりたいです。昔、ダイビングをやっていて少しだけ写真を撮っていたのですが、一眼レフを持って潜ってみたいです。
