Happy Halloween and Wei Wuxian day!

#better drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #lan wangji #digital art #I'm trying to practice digital art more - initially wasn't going to draw anything for today....I simply couldn't rest until I *did*.#I'm starting to get the hang of it !#I find traditional *much* easier especially with colouring. It still feels very...off to me.#The noise filter helps retain some of the texture I find digital lacks! More experimentation needed though.#Original draft for their costumes was 'Groom of Hanguang-jun' and 'Bride of The Yiling Lazou'.#Y'know; like those 'bride of Frankenstein' and 'Frankenstein's monster' sort of couple costumes.#Their costumes now are 'Well educated lady with land someone wants (and it's the 1600s)' and 'Werebunny'.#Every costume wwx ever puts on has a full backstory and lore to it. Even if its just a hat and fake mustache.#Okay I'm on break NOW. I will return when my long comic is done.

Sooo~ Here's a little practice I did for S/atoSugu voices~

It's definitely a first try, and I'm honestly more anxious than normal about sharing/posting it since I haven't seen any (!?) G/ojo or G/eto wavs on here, soooo my own internal bar is their actual voices, whiiich is difficult (impossible) to meet.

But as long as I clarify this is practice for getting their tones/speech patterns better, (and figuring out what pitch to set my voice at ToT) then I think it'll be okay that I posted something not up to my own standard..? maaaybe?~

Either way, I scripted, recorded, and edited this today, so I'm throwing it out into the void and whatever happens happens! (big thank you to @veersnz for basically 'shut up and allow yourself to be imperfect'ing me, I needed it <333)

life is just throwing me for an absolute loop these days, but im starting my adventure into javascript :) i didn't do a ton of coding today, but i learned about the history of javascript as well as 2 ways of running it in the browser, both in html files within the script tag and in an REPL (also one way of declaring a variable cause i think there are others but im not sure) <3

#this is exciting for me cause its like the first 'functional' language that im learning #which for me is like more than just aesthetics like html and css were #even though i definitely still need to continue practice with those i feel like building projects with javascript will let me practice all #codeblr #progblr #100 days of code #html #studyblr

Hey do you think Jamil has trouble seeing people his age as peers?

Like, growing up having to be a caretaker to a guy literally a few months older than him, always expected to act like the adult in the situation, expected to work with adults and adopt their perspectives and pick up their slack. Do you think he just, forgets sometimes?

I mean we've seen him go into caretaker mode with other sophomores, and the only people I've seen him take seriously are juniors like Vil who also act much older than they should have to (his reactions to Leona look more like a trauma response and I don't wanna get into it here). People like Malleus and Cater still somewhat get the caretaker treatment. Like I just highly doubt that he subconsciously realizes he's actually part of his age group

Aaand that inevitably brings up Azul, who also acts like he thinks he's older than he is. Whether you're looking at it from a shipping angle or not, he reacts to Azul like an actual peer. With older students, he seems more in his element but there's still a status hierarchy which he compulsively reacts to. With Azul he doesn't acknowledge any status worth respecting or see him as someone who needs to be looked after. He just bickers like an equal, in a way that implies he actually does see Azul as a real peer, like subconsciously he's categorized this guy into the same group as himself, who was previously alone on that level (he gets like this more with the twins too, over time, but it seems to start with Azul).

And my favorite part about this is, while that response stems from them both acting more like adults in general, they elicit a pettiness from each other which drags them both down to actually acting their own age, and I just love that. Their characters are perfect foils for each other and it seems to make them both less isolated in a way.

#idk how to fully explain this thought in the azul department #but other than that its... yeah. forced maturity is so fucking isolating #I'm not surprised the only people he seems to hang around with are the fish even though he claims to hate them #since they seem to be in a similar boat with that #jamil viper #on a more shippy note:#I feel like Jamil NEEDED someone who he didn't feel the need to respect. in order to avoid falling into programmed behaviors #he's able to be a person around Azul in a way that nobody else can give him #specifically because Azul CAN keep up. but doesn't command his respect in any way that his employers would force him to acknowledge #and stubbornly refuses to leave despite Jamil being an asshole in his desperate attempts to feel some sense of freedom and control #which results in him wearing himself out enough to calm down and socialize while actually being treated with respect and equality anyway.#And it seems like Azul needed to find someone that he couldn't just attain or control from behind his own walls #he's desperate for the attention of someone who refuses to let him play the role he's developed to distance himself from others #so he has to treat himself more like a real person in order to get what he wants #which is a guy who challenges him enough to prove that it's not just him and the twins vs the ignorant masses #he's spent so long building himself a fortress of wealth and arrogance to protect him from the rest of the world #and now he's faced with the fact that he can't stay in there and still get what he wants no matter how many well practiced tricks he uses #and suddenly they're both just teenagers bickering in school with a peer like everyone else for the first time in their lives #this got off topic

writing fluff is so hard esp for a character you haven’t written for before + other characters in the fic 😭

#satoru i’m abt to get real acquainted w you in this fic #so far it just all sounds v corny and not at all like how satoru sounds so i need to rework everything #also it’s so hard to segue into another part of the fic or just another paragraph for me so i need to practice FLOW #and NOT make it choppy/clunky #and i also have to find voices for tsumiki & megumi 😭 miki’s is pretty easy she’s sweet & playfully teasing #wanna make megs adorable yet slightly grumpy bc i know he’s mature but i still want a childish vibe for him hmmmm #i’m actually… SURPRISNGLY. having a LOT of trouble w the ‘reader’ themselves #i just can’t seem to find their dynamic w each character yet… hmmmmmm #y’know what i may have to do… keep the beginning part but scrap everything else and start fresh #sighhhhhhhh.#i’m willing to do that though bc this story so far isn’t hitting the way i want it to #and i love the Premise of the fic a lot and want to do it TOTAL justice #like it’s serious business to me 😭 i don’t play around when it comes to this omfg like i HAVE FUN but i want it to be decently written too #gonna need to insert more personality to each character + their DIALOGUE TOO omg dialogue is so fucking hard & speech tags are so blegh #i actually might dream on it tonight and imagine how it would realistically play out in my head and then go back to fic writing #yeah i’ll do that it’s 9:30 pm rn basically so i’ll just dream on it 😭#personal

Been quiet because I got started on the TC family tree again and lads, it's time to finalize something

So by now, regulars will probably know that I'm combining Hollytuft and Larksong (AVoS). I was calling the composite character "Hollylark" to make this combination clear.

But now I'm sitting down to lock in the choice forever; have you all gotten used to the name? Or does it still not look right and youse think I should change it.

(NOTE: Please vote for your favorite choice and do not worry for the spoiler effect, if Hollylark is not the winner, I will whittle this poll down to 2 choices and you can vote again)

Before you vote, things to know;

This character is going to be they/xem (though I am tempted to make them any/all). Though Clanmew doesn't have gendered pronouns anyway, Unnamed Composite is Meewa-gendered

They are the child of Fallenleaf and Cinderheart. They were conceived magically and by total accident, because Fallenleaf does not know how to control her powers and sneezed Cinderheart pregnant.

There are no siblings; Snaptooth and Flywhisker were foundlings adopted by Lionblaze and Cinderheart and ergo are their cousins.

Lilyheart will not be having children in BB; Honeyfur and Leafshade are also eliminated for now.

Unnamed Composite is the other parent of Nightheart, Flickerkit, and Finchlight, and the mate of Sparkpelt, just like canon. Xeir kittens look a lot like xem

Xey will, sadly, be dying in a way similar to canon. Prey poisoning during a very tense part of Squirrelflight's Horror (Squilfhope Reduxed)

#Also do you all prefer the spelling Xey/xem or Zey/zem?#I want to practice using the most popular non-gendered singular pronoun #I think I see xem more then zey but I do remember seeing zey around a lot #They is still acceptable though I'm just an old fart and need neo practice anyway

#sometimes I KNOW the number of people I have wounded by unfollowing and I hate that tumblr makes it so easy to tell now #but I simply have an unhappy and prickly brain #and I have gone from feeling soooo bad about unfollowing anyone to just recognizing that I just had to be practical about how I needed #my dash to be #but like. It’s never because I hate you. Sometimes it’s because you’re TOO interesting or you blog too much like me #Or it’s just more discourse than I can take in at any one sitting #and I’ll still stop by your page to stop in when I see you in my notes #but also. it just kind of kills me because I know that it causes hurt sometimes no matter what I say!#and like. making a post like this might make it WORSE #anyway idk why but I was reminded of this yesterday when this former student asked me wistfully if I remembered her #and I was like of course! and she was like but you have so many students …#and it’s true. impossible to make them all FEEL equally seen even though i try #I am NOT comparing you to students just saying tumblr is like teaching in that it brings you into contact with many people #and the sheer number means you can’t stay close with them all #Anyway see what I mean by the chattering

Hi there! Thank you, i appreciate that you enjoy them so far despite me not putting much out yet

As for inspiration, i just decided to use my main OC for the wol. I did not expect how much the lore and story would heavily rely on them (then again its an mmo i should have expected that so thats on me) and decided to just fully integrate her in that universe. I would have created a different one or at least made her fit into the world much better if i knew this but i got use to it and got it working anyway. I will surely but slowly do more with her and the other characters to show her story off and flesh it out more.

The challenge is where exactly to start now with how big the world building is ahahah

But thank you thank you nonetheless!
