Probably because Professor X has been partying in space for like 5 years and he let a space monkey shoot Colossus’s sister with orgasm beam. Or because he has an affinity for recruiting child soldiers to fight really dangerous villains. Or because he always leaves the toilet seat up and Colossus is more considerate of the X-Women than that. I can think of like 10 reasons right off the top of my head! (Uncanny X-Men #279 – Aug 1991)

The Uncanny X-Men #145 - Kidnapped!
Storm and Stevie (from issue #139 and 140) arrive at a theater to see a ballet. While they are watching, a woman who calls herself Ms Locke, tells Storm that she wants the X-Men to rescue Arcade, who has been captured by Dr. Doom. In order to force the X-Men to rescue an enemy of theirs, Ms Locke explains that she has kidnapped several people that are important to the X-Men: Jean’s parents, Moira MacTaggert, Candy Southern, Amanda Sefton, and Illyana Rasputin (Colossus’s sister).
Storm returns to the mansion and relays this information to the team. Professor Xavier contacts Beast, who is back with the Avengers. Beast sends information on Dr. Doom to the Professor. Wolverine does not want to give in and rescue Arcade. Storm says she has a plan...
Soon after, Xavier contacts Polaris and Havoc (I guess we’re spelling it with a C and not a K now?!) who are cleaning up damage to their home from a recent rock slide. Xavier asks Polaris and Havoc to go to their local airport where Angel’s private plane will pick them up. Havoc agrees to go and Polaris is upset that Havoc made the decision for her. However, she says that it must be important if the Professor contacted them, so she agrees to go after all.
And then the Professor contacts Iceman and Banshee, asking them to come to the mansion too. The Professor has difficultly contacting Cyclops, and he realizes that something about the magnetic field of the earth is causing him to have to strain to use his powers. The Professor knows that this must be the work of Magneto, but he questions why Magneto would do this and why now.
Cyclops awakens on a beach with Lee Forrester. He does not have his visor or ruby glasses, so he tears his shirt to make a blindfold. He and Lee have crashed on an island after a freak storm erupted and capsized their boat.
Back at the mansion, Storm tells the full group her plan. Storm, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Angel will confront Dr. Doom. Havok (ok now it’s spelled with a K again, what is going on?!), Polaris, Iceman, and Banshee will go rescue the hostages that Ms Locke mentioned.
Later, Storm enters Dr. Doom’s castle and demands that he release Arcade. Doom invites Storm to dinner to discuss this. Meanwhile, Nightcrawler, Angel, Wolverine, and Colossus sneak into the castle. They locate the place where Arcade is being held, but -
IT’S A TRAP!
Arcade isn’t there. But these gigantic people in battle suits ARE there. The battle begins!
Meanwhile, Doom and Storm are continuing their conversation when Arcade appears. Storm realizes that Doom and Arcade are in this together to capture the X-Men. Doom throws some weird glowing orb at Storm and it slowly turns her into a chrome statue!
The X-Men defeat the guys in the battle suits and break into the dining room. Doom very quickly stuns them all.
Next issue - MURDERWORLD!

The Isley Brothers - My Love Is Your Love (1967)
Absolutely pure joy! Strangely, Motown didn’t release the Isley Brother’s version of this song written by Stevie Wonder and Ivory Joe Hunter until the early 70s. The northern soul people discovered it and brought it back from obscurity

I usually always wind up liking biological new additions to hero families.
Only time will tell if lizzie becomes a favorite of mine like her sister Stevie from earth 3839/earth 38 and their brother hunter from that one future/alternate timeline we saw glimpses of a few years back.
Like honestly guys we have Damian and his Legion of adopted siblings and we have jon and his two newer adopted siblings(although I'm not sure how long those two will stick around) plus kon .
Diana was due to get another bio kid eventually.
...
Before you lot go on about lyta since I've seen people complain about her not being the wonder kid in the issue.
Yeah guess king did his research because lyta got shown in infinite frontier. So obviously she has her post crisis background.
Dc already did a timeline screw up by having airwave in the stargirl lost children stuff when he was shown previously in a green lantern annual back in 2019 🤣 🤣 if they would have used lyta instead I would have laughed so hard
