I wasn't going to even make a post for this because I had such a tough time with this film. But that poster slaps so I did anyway #A difficult and often unpleasant film. I wish I could dismiss it as exploitation trash but frustratingly it's.. It's kind of good? I'm not #Making sense but this film is confusing. It's hard to reconcile that such a sordid and unpleasant subject has been treated with quite so #Much subtlety and intelligence (at least for the most part). Forbes' performance is key to what works about this film; she's brilliant in a #Highly challenging role and manages to make her character the embodiment of naive innocence without ever being foolish #Idk this is a dark and seedy film which is actually mostly shot in a very discrete and sensitive way.. But the subject is so sleazy that it #Somehow still feels very gratuitous. Complicated. Oh but the editing! I forgot about the editing. Genuinely brilliant. The real highlight.

Toys Are Not for Children will be released on Blu-ray on October 8 via Arrow Video. Twins of Evil designed the new cover art; the original artwork will be on the reverse side.

Also known as Virgin Dolls, the 1972 exploitation film is directed by Stanley H. Brassloff. Marcia Forbes, Harlan Cary Poe, and Evelyn Kingsley star.

Yearning for the love of her absentee father, Jamie inhabits an infantilized world surrounded by toys, including those which her wayward pops bizarrely continues to send her.
