these bitches, specifically human marshall lee and human gary prince, are so wolfstar coded and i will die on this hill

in this essay i will

CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR FIONA & CAKE EPS 1-8

okay first let’s talk about human marshall lee.

what do we know about him from eps 1-8 Adventure Time: Fiona & Cake?

mommy issues™️

from rich family that he doesn’t agree with

doesn’t want to be his family’s heir

mother only accepts him if he fits into a certain mold

plays guitar (popular sirius hc)

“bad boy” who secretly grew up rich

cares very deeply about the people he loves (which are not his biological family)

punk rock fashion and attitude

talkative and fairly outgoing

shorter than gary

obviously, most of what we know about younger sirius is based off of headcanons but marshall seems like such a sirius variant.

now onto to gary prince-

sweaters, jackets and scarves dressed very cozily

old man energy

very dedicated to his work (like remus with academic validation)

ambitious

over-thinker to the max

often lost in his own little world

fantasy as escapism

creates in depth stories and lore (writer remus is a widely accepted hc)

introverted but still stands up for his beliefs

has a nighttime secret (sneaking into the bakery)

broke

quick temper

tall n lanky

nerd

he is so AU remus

now moving onto their dynamic together- so many scenes between them could easily be applicable to wolfstar.

there were so many scenes that just made me feel like i was reading a wolfstar fanfic. the way marshall listens to gary and tries to help him achieve his dreams, even though he doesn’t have many concrete ambitions of his own, and the way gary protects and comforts marshall lee screams wolfstar. additionally, the archetypes marshall and gary fall into are very similar to the archetypes that sirius and remus fall into, which consequently creates a similar relationship dynamic.

tldr: marshall lee and gary prince are a wolfstar variant because they’re literally AUs of each other.

Betty Grof

I don't think we discuss enough just how tragic Betty Grof is as a character.

We always talk about post finale but brush over everything else. I think we focus too much on its effect on Simon, but what about Betty?

She gave up her ambitions to be with Simon, just through them right out the window, and he didn't even really notice.

Fiona and Cake ep 8 spoilers

Betty gave up her first chance of exploring petroglyph in the Outback to help Simon, whom she barely knew yet. Which was all fine and dandy, but then after his expedition and after they went separate ways, he finds her note he spoke about. He stops her from leaving on her own expedition again. Yes, they have a romantic , beautiful moment, but she just gave up everything for him. She spends the rest of her life for Simon. He could have joined her expedition like she joined his, but now her life is, Help Simon research these ancient magical items, help Simon not die, Help Simon stop being Ice King, Help Simon, Protect Simon. Simon.

Her life is Simply Simon, and she gave up everything. Her ambitions, her sanity, her life, and body.

I know he loves her so much, but I don't think he ever noticed how much she just gives up or sacrifices for him. Well, not until Ooo. Where things were much more noticeable.

It's sad she never even realized it was a problem, even when it was shoved in her face (Temple of Mars, I think is the ep) she refuses to see she hasn't been living for herself for a long time and she's been obsessed. But when told she should work on herself and better herself, she just wants to save Simon even more.

Her character is just so sad. She sacrifices everything and never thinks to take care for herself. For, her life is Simon.

fiona and cake ep 7-8 spoilers

(warning - i dont have anything creative to say. its just an appreciation post)

ok lemme talk abt ep 7 real quick bc i dont want to make it look like i didnt love marceline and bubblegum. every scene is amv material. the girls are fighting. heres some marceline and bubblegum fancam

i got very distracted getting those screenshots

the litch? is scary as FUCK. i LOVE how the episode goes, it has the best unsettling parts of adventure time in it. how did i not see that ending coming? i mean i thought jerry might be bad but. okay. so. you come to this world and everything is very dried up, classic apocalypse stuff. but then BMO greets you! and hes like oh fin and jake are just getting milk lolz. and he gives you his little tour. then you see all the kingdoms are like dried up and the ppl are probably dead, you wonder what happened. BMO is like "okay fine one day everyone left. but then jerry showed up! yay!" then BMO has a robotgore death (which felt more gorey than all the other little deaths bc they never hold back with robot gore. its like its okay to show guts and pieces of a body if its a robot)

okay so of course they visit jerry, BMOs friend. yea yea hes got skulls on his basement stairs hes probably evil. maybe a postapocalyptic edgelord or a sad winner of the war. and then uh- you know. its the litch. the metaphor for the inevitibility of death. its just that the death was born tin this universe and what comes after humans came early. total extinction. flesh burned off by a radioactive burst, all the life evaporated out of. well everything that was alive. batterries left to corrode in anything unliving enough not to die.

the litch has no will or purpouse. its the metaphor for nuclear war but also all apocalypse and time itself. a character that is time itself cant be stopped, it is built into the engine of the universe. making an adventure time world without the litch is like trying to make a peach that will never rot that still has all the good things about a peach. theres something extremely cool about a villain you cant defeat, that is guaranteed to win and will have won in every universe if you skip forward enough, and everything that happens in the show happens with the explicit awareness that it will have reversed
