“I’m glad to see you back out there kid.” Savard said as they all entered the locker room after a huge win, “Definitely wasn’t the same without you.”

A few murmurs of agreement was spoken throughout the room.

“Saw a cutie in the stands that had one certain players jersey.” Josh Anderson grinned at the rookie, Kaiden’s cheeks flushing at his comment.

Everyone knew Kaiden liked you, but he just couldn’t bring himself to act on it.

You two were just friends.

“Yeah- she got into town last night.”

They all knew about you, considering you had visited Kaiden several times this season already, staying as much as two to three weeks per visit.

Arber grinned at Juraj, who knew exactly what was going through Arbers’ head. He had already talked about it with the Slovakian.

“Hey K.” Arber called out, grabbing the attention of the room, “is there something going on between you two?” He asked.

Kaiden shook his head as he tugged his skates off; his jersey following after.

“No.” He said, “We’re just friends.”

Arber had him exactly where he wanted him, “If there’s nothing going in between you two, you wouldn’t mind if I asked her on a date, right?”

“Uh, yeah, sure- wait no, that doesn’t make sense.” He stumbled out, as he gave his friend a weird look. Arber had never indicated that he liked you in any way, so this was all weird to him, “No there isn’t anything between us. No I wouldn’t mind.” He choked out.

Kaidens mood changed dramatically as he watched a grin spread across Arbers’ face.

“You’re the best.”

“Yeah.”

“Hey! Wait up!” You heard someone after you. You turned around to see Arber standing there, slightly out of breath. You could see a couple of his teammates standing by the entrance to the locker room, including Kaiden.

“What’s up?” You softly smiled as you watched him inch closer.

“I need you to play along.” Arber started, “Kaiden has liked you for quite some time and I’m helping the little shit out. He thinks I’m asking you out, but I’m not. I need you to nod your head and agree and I’m going to act excited and tell them you said yes.” You watched as Arber explained this all, you slightly looking confused, “Stop looking like that! Just trust me.”

“Okay, yeah.” You said, a little louder than you meant to, “That sounds fun?” You stated, it coming out as more of a question.

“Good. I’ll text you then.” He said before he spun around on his heels, giving the boys a grin and a thumbs up. You watched him walk away, your eyes catching Kaiden’s sad ones.

He shook his head before walking back to his stall, slightly aggressively tugging off the rest of his gear as the other talked to Arber.

“So where are you taking her?” Brendan asked.

“I’ve thought about this for a bit, so I’m thinking that steakhouse down the road.” He rattled off some bullshit place, not even caring at this point.

All he was trying to do was push Kaiden towards you, but clearly it wasn’t working too well when Kaiden joined the conversation.

“I’m sure she’d like that.” He mumbled, his eyes glancing towards Arber; the rest of the boys had noticed the shift in his mood.

A few were confused, the others knew exactly what he was doing.

Kaiden did nothing but talk about you practice and pretty much any time.

‘Oh yeah Y/N likes those too.’

‘Y/N called earlier. She asked about you.’

‘Y/N sent me this TikTok.’

The boy was hopelessly in love with you and everyone knew it, but him.

The more Arber talked about you in the locker room, the more pissed Kaiden got.

He quickly put his suit back on, tugging on his shoes before bidding everyone goodbye.

He had to find you. He wasn’t going to let anyone steal his girl.

“So Arber huh?” Kaiden asked as he looked towards the sky, watching as the snow fell. It was a lot more interesting than allowing you see his reaction, “Of all people, you pick one of my best friends?”

“Well technically he picked me,” you rolled your eyes at him, “but uh- yeah.” You coughed, “He asked if I was busy and if I wanted to go out sometime.” You said, repeating the words he had said, knowing fully that you and Arber would not be going out.

“Are you going to go?” He asked, hopeful that would tell him that you told Arber no.

“I mean, I guess.” You said as you lightly kicked the snow that was piling up on the ground, “Ya know, for a smart guy, you’re such a dumbass sometimes.”

“What-“ you turned towards Kaiden, him doing the same as you grabbed his collar, jerking him towards you, placing your lips on his, “You’re such an idiot.”

“What about Arber?” He asked as you two broke away.

You let out a sigh as you rolled your eyes, “There isn’t an Arber in this picture,” you continued, “It’s always been you, you dumbass.”
