Hello Tumblr!
We are the Puget Sound Socialist Rifle Association. We are a big-tent leftist group in Washington State dedicated to safe, inclusive education and training in firearms, first aid, self-defense, and other useful skills to empower working class and marginalized people.
Please ask us any questions you have about these topics or about getting involved! Let us know if you want us to respond privately. Anon asks are also fine.

shout out to Danzo @balaclava-trismegistus for helping me set up my recon or "reccy" rig. Btw on my screen the hat looks like it's casting enough of a shadow to hide my face but if any of you see my face please tell me so I can censor them (for opp sec)

I am planning on using this setup in a multitude of urban, rural, and transitional environments which is why I am incorporating greens and browns in addition to casual streetwear/techwear

The ONE fucking time Biden decides to try to ban assault weapons is the exact time when people need them most, when the threats of genocide against trans people have reached deafening volume
Tumblr media
If you still aren't convinced that the democrats are complicit in this country's slow descent into a fascist hellhole, I honestly do not know what to say.
First of all, bans rarely never work (as evidenced by the prohibition era, i know different subject, but my point stands), and especially in a country with such a deeply rooted gun culture (for better and for worse), things will get ugly really, REALLY fast. Even if bans would work, the problem would be getting people to comply with them in the first place, which, as I mentioned, would be damn near impossible here.
To my LGBTQ+ friends, I beg of you to get a gun and learn how to use it to the best of your ability, learn how to apply first aid, and have a plan on where to go when (not just "if") shit hits the fan.
And remember;
"Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary."

PSA: If You Are Queer, Disabled, a POC, or a Woman in America and 18+, Get Yourself A Gun.
The idea that you don’t need a gun to defend yourself, comes from the idea that the police will defend you if a nutjob comes at you with a gun. They won’t. Hells, half the time the police are the nutjobs with guns trying to kill you. With the rise of “active clubs” and the way politics in America are going in general, we need to fucking defend ourselves! It may be a few hundred dollars, but you will be a few hundred times safer. Try to find a local chapter of the Socialist Rifle Association, info on training and proper handling. And always remember to treat every gun as if it’s loaded, and to keep them away from children. P.S. The SRA website explains it better than I can, but the point still stands, if you’re at risk of being a victim of hate crimes, find a way to defend yourself.

Fellow queer people trust me, once you own a gun like I do it takes away a massive portion of the stress that comes from being queer in america these days
Seeing some Nazi asshole threatening genocide online is still scary but knowing that you're able to go shoot enough holes into the fucker to turn him into a strainer before he's able to get the second syllable of "groomer" out of his mouth has brought tons of peace of mind and massively helped my anxiety lmao

TIL there's a leftist arms group in the United States called the Socialist Rifle Association, or the SRA
Wikipedia page
Official page
[This was posted by a Communist that believes people should have the same weaponry as the government so the government cannot overpower the people by force, ergo in the interest of reversing Mutually Assured Destruction, world governments should be denuclearized and steadily disarmed alongside drastic societal and economic change to make society safer for everyone]

I’m kind of living with AvPD. But the fact that you cannot do certain hobbies (such as shooting), just because you have a PD and here you’re seen as an automatic threat to others :/.
I wanted to do that as a hobby, but I’ll just get a gun that I don’t need a firearms license/pass for (there are a few..)
Sorry this took so long for me to get to. For some reason, I didn't notice it in my messages until now.
That is very frustrating, for sure. I also am looking to get into the same hobby myself with a local SRA branch, and I am fairly fortunate to live in a place that for now doesn't require that sort of thing for gun ownership and shooting at ranges. To get deeper into it, it frustrates me because mental illness is kind of a scapegoat when it comes to who is allowed to own weapons. It's not typically us--mentally ill and neurodivergent people--who are out there hurting people. Real risk factors seem to be reactionary ideologies, and a history of extremist sexist and racist beliefs. I hope you manage to take up your hobby. Have fun, and stay safe.

Ok, assuming voting is pointless as you do, what should we do instead? What political action would be more effective?

The far right aren’t the only ones showing up armed. Across the country, marginalized individuals are forming groups like the John Brown Gun Club and Socialist Rifle Association that claim to be devoted to the idea of community defense. Their rationale is informed by the massacres at Colorado’s Club Q and Florida’s Pulse nightclub, and tempered by a long cultural distrust of the police, who they say have repeatedly failed to protect them from — and in some cases even perpetuated — right-wing hate.
Many sources interviewed for this story — particularly those who conceal their identities at protests — asked to use pseudonyms, in fear of being targeted or doxxed by the far right. Others were happy to share their names, judging that their public presence — or concealed-carry permits — shield them from harm. All of them, however, agree on one thing: The other side has guns and is willing to use them. The only answer is to be prepared to shoot back.
[...]
“My community, the South Asian community, has been dealing with this shit for 30 years,” Azad says. “Every year, some dude throws a Molotov into a temple, or spray-paints swastikas on our houses.”
Gato chimes in. “I don’t want to own guns and do this,” he says. “But I also don’t want someone coming after my wife because she’s a person of color.”
But in Texas, Azad and Gato say, guns are a necessity — the right wing has them, the law allows them, and being armed is the only way to stay safe.
“This is the Wild fuckin’ West, man,” Azad says. “We kinda do what we gotta do.”
