How Branding Helps Small Businesses to Grow
Tired of trying everything to boost your business and still not being able to figure out the issue? It’s time to introspect.
Today we see many women entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and freelancers. From pickle making to dress designing to the bakery to beauty: the list is endless. You name a field and women have created a niche for them in it. According to Google- Brain report women entrepreneurs constitute 20% of the total business being run.
But there is one section that gets stuck up in this journey. This write-up is a big shout-out to all such women entrepreneurs. No matter how hard you try, you cannot move, resulting in movement downhill.  The sooner we get unstuck better for our business because once we start losing our customers it becomes difficult to recover.
Let’s first talk about what got us to that point which made us stuck. Although, there can be multiple reasons there:
Poor Product
Lack of Branding
Exorbitant Pricing
Ineffective after-sales service etc.
But don’t worry, this is not unusual. Almost every successful business has its downs too. The beauty is coming out of it.
How to Grow as a Successful Women Entrepreneur
For any business/ model to be successful and flourish we should always keep the following points in mind.
Product Quality
The foremost important thing that will keep the business flourishing down the years is the quality of your product. Well, there can be absolutely no replacement for it. Needless to say, even a top-notch business fails if the product’s quality is not retained. On the contrary, a good quality product enhances the reputation increasing sales and profits.
Digital Presence
Digital presence is a vital prerequisite in today’s scenario. A business should have a digital presence to cater for a large pool of customers. Digital presence can help your business in establishing a brand. It builds customers’ faith and keeps your business standing tall in the crowd. Although, making a website need a good amount of funds and requires digital expertise. Therefore, you can take the services of business bio website portals, that can provide you ready to usebusiness bio templates and start establishing your brand.
Competitive Price
At times when the competition is at its pinnacle, quoting prices after a good market survey is always a good thing to do. The pricing should be done strategically based on the location and customer targeting.
Supply Chain Management
It is the management of the flow of the product or services right from the procurement of the raw material to the delivery. Most of the time we start a business with good zeal but as the business picks up the supply chain gets unbalanced. So always plan prior and ensure a good supply chain. In addition to the reduction in inventory and overhead costs, it would help in ensuring strong cash flow and help in making the business more agile.
After Sales Services
After-sales support helps to gain the trust of customers. When a customer starts using the product there may be chances that he faces some issue.  A good after-sales service will help people make better use of your product, eventually leading to happy customers and more sales.
Customer Feedback
The businesses that ignore customer feedback are sure to doom soon. Perhaps one of the most important keys to running a good business is customer feedback. It helps us to keep businesses updated regarding further requirements of the customers and guides us to make suitable changes to our product or services as and when required.
Having said all above, no one can deny that women have an inbuilt good sense of all the above factors by default since they actually practice them in daily routine while managing their households and daily affairs. This really gives an extra edge to women entrepreneurs as compared to their male counterparts. So, my friends, what are you waiting for? Just flutter your wings, take note of the points mentioned above, and you are ready to fly again.

🤭 #vilnius #vilnius🇱🇹 #vilniusoldtown #700vilnius #vilniustourism #lietuva🇱🇹 #lietuva #senamiestis #cybervilnius @vilniusofficial @govilnius #futuristic #surrealistic #photomanipulation #oldmeetsnew (at Vilnius, Lithuania) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn7CcW8NZ7D/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Role of Women Entrepreneurs in Shaping the New India
In 2021, when Nykaa IPO created hype with over subscriptions by 81 times, no one believed a women entrepreneur can make such a phenomenal share market debut. But women's participation in the Indian economy was not new. Last month I visited one coastal village in Goa. I was surprised that most of the Mapsa fish market was managed by women only. Ironically, several women have been working on various projects for ages, unaware of the fact that they own 20.37% of MSMEs in India.
Women-led Business Impact
Women-owned businesses are providing direct employment to 22–27 million people. As per Boston Consulting Group, women-founded or co-founder startups generate 10% more cumulative revenue over five years. Moreover, these start-ups enjoy a more inclusive work culture and employ 3x more women than men. Not only this, McKinsey Global states that India can potentially add US$ 700 billion to global GDP by increasing women’s participation in the labor force.
Now, let’s focus on those drivers that contribute Women toward Women's Entrepreneurial Roles.
Factors Driving More Women toward Women Entrepreneurial roles
Recognition: Social recognition or admiration motivates women entrepreneurs. It boosts their esteem and makes them socially secure.
Results: Women owned start-ups provide 35% higher ROI compared to those owned by men.
Better Livelihood: Women play a major role in making the family’s purchasing decisions. They like to strive for a better livelihood, therefore, the need motivates women to establish a small business for themselves.
Education: As per the latest stats, the female literacy rate is close to 70% in India.
Suggestions for Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs
On Funding:
There are several government-supported funding initiatives encouraging women's participation in business. Schemes like Bharatiya Mahila Bank Business Loan, Dena Shakti Scheme, and Udyogini Scheme are there to make funding possible for business women.
Women Entrepreneurship Platform:
Niti Aayog promoted women entrepreneurship platforms that arrange various workshop programs for women. Apart from this, CII’s IWN (Indian women network) groups are there that provide a common platform for women entrepreneurs to form close licensing groups.
Business Bio Websites:
Business women can not ignore digital platforms, they need to focus early to establish their digital identity. There are specialized business bio website platforms like meripehchan.me where women entrepreneurs or
social-prenures can make their business bio.
Business Bio is an online low-cost budget bio website that helps women solopreneurs simplify their marketing message and connect with customers to grow their business by engaging in meaningful conversations. It's a website for solopreneurs who don't have time to write about themselves or their businesses. They can feature their unique products and services in a classic and elegant way.
Early financial Planning:
Women in business need to start focusing on financial planning early. This can help them to get a pool of capital ready for the future and at the same time help her to provide financial stability.
The Big Lesson We Draw at the End
Women are the backbone of the Indian economy, they have been supporting the Indian economy for many decades. They just need to plan their business in a more structured way, so that no one has to write such blogs to showcase the importance of Women Solopreneurs in the Indian economy.

Carmesi: The Period Girl - An innovative depiction of underprivileged girls on periods, frame by frame
Tumblr media
Carmesi – India’s first premium biodegradable sanitary napkin launched its awareness campaign, The Period Girl this week. The campaign conceptualised by FCB Ulka is an innovative depiction of underprivileged girls on periods, frame by frame. The beautiful storytelling behind the frames conveys the message that for women, life shouldn’t stop when periods start! Instagram Stories are massive. Everyone who’s anyone loves them. Top brands use Stories regularly. It is said that on an average an Instagrammer spends 25 to 30 minutes tapping on Stories. What better reason for a brand that was built on Instagram to do its first CSR campaign – using Stories as a medium. Carmesi works closely with a group of NGOs together they have a social initiative called Unified In Red. They organise workshops on Menstrual Health for underprivileged girls. They donate pads to girls in need, educate them about their bodies, teach them good hygiene practices and encourage open conversations around menstruation. Every pack of Carmesi bought goes into funding these activities.

View this post on Instagram Imagine a girl of 12, who runs faster than the wind. Her two little pigtails swaying with determination as she zips past the finish line. Imagine her excitement as she rushes back home, shining brighter than the gold medal resting in her palm. Sadly, this might be her last win. Once she starts menstruating, she might not come home with any gold. Because in India, 58% of school girls don’t participate in any sports during their periods. Lack of access to hygienic period products, and little to no knowledge about menstruation are the key factors that contribute to this staggering statistic. But, LIFE SHOULDN’T STOP WHEN PERIODS START. You can help #KeepHerGoing. Follow the link in our bio to know how. A post shared by Carmesi (@mycarmesi) on Feb 2, 2020 at 6:14am PST View this post on Instagram Gauri loves festivals. She loves making Rangoli every morning, dressing up, putting mehndi on her palms, and most of all, helping her grandma make delicious sweets. It’s the one time of the year when the whole family comes together, and the air smells of incense sticks and pure joy. This Diwali though, Gauri won’t be a part of the festivities. She won’t be allowed to help in the kitchen, and she won’t be included in the evening aarti. The smell of incense will not make her feel pure, because in the eyes of God, she’d be ‘impure’. 75% of girls in India are not allowed to pray during their periods. Numerous taboos and superstitions, and little to no knowledge about menstruation are key factors that contribute to this staggering statistic. But, LIFE SHOULDN’T STOP WHEN PERIODS START. You can help #KeepHerGoing. Follow the link in our bio to know how. A post shared by Carmesi (@mycarmesi) on Feb 4, 2020 at 8:42am PST View this post on Instagram This is the story of 5 inseparable friends - Anu, Minu, Tinu, Sonu, and Ninu. They love walking together to school every day. They idolise Jaya Miss (their English teacher), share their lunches, pass secret notes in the classroom, are the first to participate in dance competitions, and love playing kho-kho in their break time. Sadly, only 1 of them will continue going to school next year. In many parts of India, 1 out of 5 girls drop out of school when their periods start. Lack of access to hygienic period products, and little to no knowledge about menstruation are key factors that contribute to this staggering statistic. But, LIFE SHOULDN’T STOP WHEN PERIODS START. They aren’t permitted to play with their friends, or do any outdoor activities, because it would make the others ‘impure’. A post shared by Carmesi (@mycarmesi) on Feb 3, 2020 at 6:11am PST Speaking on occasion, Tanvi Johri, Carmesi’s founder, says, “This campaign is very close to our hearts because it’s a beautiful depiction of a rather painful reality. To see the Period Girl in all her childhood innocence, being crippled by something as basic as Periods touches a chord in people. It forms an instant connect with the viewer. And it doesn’t just end there; it allows the viewer to help keep her going by directing them to our social initiative – Unified In Red, by educating them about the efforts we have undertaken to make period positivity a reality.” FCB Ulka Delhi has crafted the creatives for the campaign and Surjo Dutt, National Creative Director, FCB Ulka quips, “It’s a great way to start an Instagram only CSR awareness campaign. First for FCB Ulka and rare for Indian brands.” Anusheela Saha, Group Creative Director, FCB Ulka, spearheading the campaign says, “We felt the Instagram Stories tapping action could be put to good use. So we created Story frames like stop-motion animation frames. Tapping on could make the Period Girl keep moving on so that she doesn’t stop when her periods start. Its engaging and yet cause centric” Tags: Carmesi The Period Girl, Biodegradable Sanitary Napkin, NGO, Instagram Stories, CSR campaign, Digital Campaign, Advertising, social initiative, Unified In Red, Menstrual Health, CSR Awareness Campaign Read the full article
