tbh as an israeli, i was so embarrassed that they put the flags there and i wish they didn’t do that. I don’t support that at all.
❤ and that's why YOU are my people, not those flag wavers- it's definitely my identity as a Jew that makes me extra outspoken about this issue in particular because like you say I feel personally embarrassed on behalf of my kin, and a responsibility by association to speak out against the israeli state's genocide. And it's made so much worse by the way people think israel= all jewish culture, or that to be anti-Israel is anti-semitism which, as @captainrayzizuniverse pointed out in tags (YES! well said and thank you!! you are also my people❤), is a tactic of zionist propaganda used to shut down criticism of the Israeli state. I think anon meant well and wants to keep an eye out for anti-semitism during this terrible time of its rise everywhere and I appreciate that! But that's why it's important to talk loudly and constantly about the fact that taking a stand against anti-semitism does not have to include defending the Israeli state- and indeed to be broadly anti-racist, one must call out Israel's colonization and genocide in Palestine

fionna's world being represented by a dandelion makes so much sense ... they're weeds. yet people make wishes through them, changing their whole meaning from something meant to be destroyed to something hopeful.
dandelions are also resilient and it makes sense that something associated with them would. you know. perservere despite the destruction caused by the scarab.
but ultimately i think what REALLY made me tear up over this is that dandelions are really boring plants. when you're a kid you blow on them and make your wish but they're not eyecatching or anything but still, fionna's final wish was for her old world to still exist as it was when she left it (> plain and simple. boring even).
like the moment she realized she would lose her friends, and that her friends might forget each other if the world got its magic back, she immediately decided she didn't want it and I think that ties back to the dandelion metaphor so well... like, do you really need magic to be real to find it everywhere? or can you turn something boring into something magical?

In political spheres, I so often want to ask, "is what you're doing 'punching up,' or are they just an easily-available, acceptable target?"

Going crazy over Frollo's expressions in the scene where the soldier interrupts Hellfire.
like they animated his face and everything but in all the videos I've seen it's all blurry or non-exist at all because of the poor quality .
This is on our smart TV on disney plus, and ohmahgash his expressions are agshfjkf

Biggest folley of Motley and why it got so difficult for me to write was because I kept getting so caught up on trying to represent every aspect of their stories all at once anytime there were on screen, when really I need to remember that they are in fact Just Little Guys

going further. franks child self was living in that one room with a strange weirdo boy he dreamed up but never really had. now his inner child isn’t alone anymore. he plays games with his real charlie in their terrible one room apartment. getting weird with it and being okay with being weird no matter what everyone on the outside might think. sharing a bed together to feel the comfort in being close to that
macs child self had charlie the whole time. inseparable. a package deal. the most genuine connection and comfort in both of their neglected tiny lives. not just because they were otherwise alone. decades later theyre not going anywhere. now their inner child rides bikes together they throw rocks at trains together they teach each other about the world just like they needed so desperately in old times
dennis’ child self never had charlie. not until highschool. but that was exactly when he experienced his csa. his inner child found charlie at the exact right moment. caught him when he fell. he got his child self back through charlie just as he lost feeling. and now what do the two of them do together? they go recreate memories and recapture lost youth with a mutual unspoken understanding of why
they all need charlie. relaxing into his genuine youthful energy lets them feel that way again.

"It's powerful, it's visceral, it's dark, it's like a Shakespearean tragedy. There’s no Arya — a character everybody's going to love. They're all flawed. They're all human. They do good things. They do bad things. They're driven by lust for power, jealousy, old wounds — just like human beings. Just like I wrote them."
Seeing people debate which grey characters can still be considered "morally good" and somehow Arya never makes the list, so it's the perfect time to bring back this quote from George which shows exactly how he views her character 🫶🏾

The conflict between Nat and the girls was inevitable. The fact that the wilderness “chose her” is just another part of a continuing theme: It doesn’t matter if the mystical is real or not. The girls make it real in order to process their horrific reality.
Everyone’s already gone into how Jackie symbolized the old, normal world and how she died because of that. She had to die because she could not adapt to the level of hardship and violence required while stranded in the wild. The others have adapted by turning to rituals and the occult. They’re traumatized, starving teenagers who have never had to navigate anything like this sort of violence and stress before.
Except for Nat.
Obviously she wasn’t a cannibal before all this. But she had lived with violence, survived under harsh conditions, and seen death up close. For the others to be mentally able to survive this they need to separate their current selves from their old lives. That’s the appeal of Lottie’s rituals and faith. Of the cult. They lose their personhood because the trauma is simply too great. They’re still the same people, but none of the girls as they currently stand would be able to recognize themselves pre-crash.
Except for Nat. She’s a subtle uncomfortable reminder to the girls that they do, in fact, still have agency and morals. Even under the current stress. She feels responsible, and it reminds them of their own personal responsibility. Which isn’t compatible with their current mentality of survival, the new form of civilization they’re trying to create.
It’s not just that Javi died instead of Nat. It’s that Nat had to let Javi die, even though she tried to reach him at first. It’s the worst guilt she’s felt so far, and morally it brings her one step closer down to the others (In their eyes, at least. I’m not trying to morally condemn any of them but I do think they see Nat as Different from the rest and it subconsciously unsettles them.). It’s enough to break her, and enough to satisfy them.
For now at least.
