Story:

She had not seen Ryekit since they were kits. They were swimming calmly in the water, when Piercekit realized that she could no longer see her sister. 

She had tried searching all over the water, but it was too dark, and the forest was bare. Panicking, she had alerted her parents, and the Clan was sent out to search for her in multiple patrols for a moon. But it never turned up anything.

With every day, Piercekit became more and more desparate to find her sister. It ate at her every waking second and haunted her every dream. Only two moons after she earned her warrior name, she told her leader that she would be leaving Clan territory to find Ryekit. Her leader understood, although reminded her that she was unlikely to find anyone.

It took seasons. Years, maybe. She traveled over many lands, searching thoroughly through every nook and cranny of them all. At last, she gave up. It was on her way home when she saw her.

It was Ryekit, definitely her, with the exact matching fur. She was grown now, and sharing prey with two older cats. They must have stolen her!

She killed the she-cat while she was sleeping. Then she went for the tom, who, with Ryekit, was out hunting--separately. After that, she was bursting with joy to unite with her sister. Surely when Ryekit saw her covered in their blood, she would know that they were no longer a danger to her.

Ryekit recognized her!

She was screaming.

They embraced.

She tried to pull away.

They were glad to return to Riverclan together.

She begged to be let go.

They were nearly at the Riverclan camp when Ryekit broke away. Piercelight gave chase, alarmed until Ryekit looked back at her, laughing, a twinkle in her eye.

She looked back with terror. Why was this happening?

Piercelight tried to catch her, but Ryekit was faster. Unexpectedly, after breaking onto the pebbly shore, Ryekit entered a water-monster that was laying on the edge. Piercelight tried to warn her to stay away from it, but the monster woke, and began to swim away with Ryekit inside of it.

Ryekit cried after her. “Please help me!”

“Please stay away from me!”

Piercelight leaped into the water, limbs kicking out rapidly. She swam deeper and deeper. Exhausten, already so wrapped among her limbs from the chase and finding Ryekit, dragged her down. 

Soon enough, Piercelight couldn’t keep her head up. She was pulled deeper and deeper into the darkening water, then she felt rocks beneath her body. Rocks, and a tiny, bony lump of fur.

She and Ryekit had snuck out of camp while they were still young, although old enough to swim.

When their oldest friends earned their apprentice names and began training, they bragged to the younger sisters how they could now swim in the large rivers.

Ryekit and Piercekit wanted to shut them up, and went all the way to the lake. The adults had warned them that it wasn’t for kits, and swimming in it would prove to the apprentices that they were just as strong. Perhaps they would even be given their names early, and would therefore become better then their friends.

They didn’t go too far into the water at first. The sisters splashed each other playfully, wrestling. At one point, Piercekit wanted to see how long she could hold her sister down for. It was a while, but not too long, and Ryekit eventually pushed herself away. 

They continued to laugh, not knowing that damage had already been done. Ryekit didn’t notice the waves sweeping her further away. By the time she did, she was too tired to swim back, and sank to the bottom.

Piercekit noticed suddenly that Ryekit was gone. She tried to search the water, but it was too dark.

Additional Information:

--Yellow ears and eye spots aren’t actually part of it, I just couldn’t get rid of it.

--Her father was Windclan, reason for her frame.

--The she-cat she believed was her sister was just a random cat who happened to look like her / Piercelight’s memory of her. The two older cats with her were her parents.

the snow settled, a fresh blanket of white wool powdering the earth, the only sign of life being the wildfowl that winter in the woods & the trail of footprints left behind by their oversized winter boots, stamping patterns into the white as they traversed their way through the park. quiet, soft & comfortable like a fluffy blanket on a cold evening. it's in that easy silence that an idea sparked. yewon dipped low, a mischievous glint in her dark gaze as she pillowed snow carefully between her fingers, shaping a small projectile in her mittened hands. her aim was poor as she launched the first attack, but managed to dart her companion's shoulder with snowdust. ❛ aha! gotchu! ❜ she beamed triumphantly, musical trills of laughter echoing through the once quiet forest, reaching her eyes & spreading warmth across her features.
