#zeno's art #ocs #original characters #reassassination #dr savory #octavia #emery onion reliquary #lets go over their designs!!!! yay!!!!! #starting with savory - a lot has changed but not that much #he's far taller and lankier than he was before and his hair is darker purple underneath rather than green #those were just cosmetic changes to bring more personality to his silhouette and improve focus on his face #otherwise - the shape of the hair highlight changed (from ovals to an X) as did the shoes (no more broken chain on his boot 💔) #and also i tried to make his face look older because he looked out of place compared to other characters around his age #really just small changes. his design is quite simple so there isnt much to majorly overhaul #for octavia once again there are both many and not that many changes #shes spiker than ever her face shape changed and so did the shape of her limbs #also those weird little red thingies on her hair are gone. never actually liked them that much #also i just wanna say - octavia's skirt has an X on it to signify that savory made it because all his stuff has X's also #onion had the most changes. most importantly - they do not have a nose anymore #(thats just stylisation dont worry they have a nose) #but anyway their shapes have become more defined and they have freckles now!!! yay!!!! #god i really dont have much to say do i . ummmm these are the final designs and most likely the ones that will show up in the actual comic #when i finally write past chapter 1 o_o #ok bye sorry for all that waffle #i also drew up some other designs but they're spoilers

Atla live action 😐

#thats my honest reaction 😐 #to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid #like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat #or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already #good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive #to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil #i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better #but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because #it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak #and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but #come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and #makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality #i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was #IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys' #and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall #AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think #plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS #a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason #im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your #audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small #thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small #its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers #i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang #anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and #rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz #netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub #no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same #ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me #i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing #yapping

My Sonic redesign! But evil. Honestly, it wasn't that painful! Once I got into the rhythm, this boy got a lot easier to draw. He actually turned out really cute! (And eerily similar to Total's art style XD) Although not being allowed to make the ears tall really hurt. That's my THING! You can't take away my THING!! But yeah, he turned out good. :)

uuhhh in other new that lmk s5 trailer dropped and people are very

for context the new season is being partly animated by wildbrain i think. flying bark is still working on the show but probably due to all the other projects they've been working on like the atla movie the animation is off.

its understandable that people are upset. lmk has some of the most consistently dynamic and lively animation ive ever seen, and going from that to ok animation kinda sucks. as a culmination of a lot of what the series has been building up to people were inevitably going to be disappointed

at the same time people shouldnt harass animators. like ever. no amount of trying to petition or anything will change the s5, people are just trying to do their job and theres no probably no major changing to the finished product by now. and theres still a lot of that lmk charm in there, and we haven't even seen the whole season yet to judge it. flying bark is still working on it, and even if the animation never reaches the peak of the old seasons it still has the same writers so at least the writing has the chance to live up old standards. idk though we'll just have to wait and see

#i do think they could have just delayed it after dealing with other projects but with the anniversary lego might have jsut forced them???? #and with how the animation industry is i guess they didnt have a choice #tbh im still really sad about the downgrade but after rewatching the trailer a bit more its not that bad despite the tweening #we've been spoiled with the other seasons but i think people will get used to it at some point. maybe #though i cant forgive some of the new stuff like li jing and that dragon tiger duo they do not fit the artstyle at all #though for li jing i think the problem is mostly proportions and how small his eyes look #but the dragon and tigers snouts just look bad. #ok looking at it again i think it looks weird because theyre dissolving. the design's still off but it wasn't as bad as i first thought. #but the proportions and shapes feels like it just isn't from lmk #idk i could nitpick but negativity is tiring and these guys have big shoes to fill for a show they werent prepared for it was inevitable #for any last takeaways please do not be mean to the animators #also studio changes are normal so its not some horrible injustice or the sign of the end times im more upset lego didn't handle it better #i still hope s5 is good and i want to believe it'll still be satisfying by the end the plot so far sounds pretty interesting #or atleast that the atla movie is good enough to compensate #and if im feeling greedy there will be a 6th season that gets better #and there are still good shots throughout all of this so maybe it'll work out with the season as a whole #with how popular it is in china i dont think its out of the question #idk though a lot of information is still up in the air so i guess we just wait #lego monkie kid #lmk #monkie kid #alttalks

#personal vent #For me personally i was apart of a sub section of twt that had a lot of multiship writers and I loved it sm #Everyones different ideas and takes on certain ships were inspiring and I looked up to alot of them #But now alot of them arent writing for the fandom anymore. I support their decisions but now im just sad #It was small to begin with and now alot of the fundamental people that were there on my journey are gone and idk if I can fill their shoes #Yes I can make posts and interact with my friends and eventually find other people but it feels wrong not having them here #Idk its like watching your senior friends graduate and move on while you're still a sophomore

english has a perfectly good word for shinkansen (bullet train) and yet no english speakers here seem to use it they literally all just say shinkansen

#there are a lot of words where we do actually have an english word but most people use the japanese word #but there are subtle differences between the english and the japanese so it makes sense #like genkan #you could translate that as an entry way or an entrance hall #but entry way could be inside or outside and entrance hall suggests a separate room #whereas genkan is specifically the area in a building where you take your shoes off #it's rarely a separate room it's usually just a small area #and then there's onigiri #you could say rice balls but that suggests they're spherical and they're not #onsen is another one #you could say hot spring but that doesn't cover the fact it's a resort/spa area #but shinkansen... it's a bullet train. that's what we call it in english. there's no small differences #i guess bc (a) shinkansen is easier to say and (b) no english signs here say bullet train they all say shinkansen

start showing female and/or smaller body types in men's clothing on websites for comparison. better yet, stop advertising t-shirts as "mens fit" or "women's fit" and start making more clothing lines universal and genderless. start producing "men's" shoes in sizes for smaller feet so women and nb people who wear a size 7 shoe and under in "women's" can actually fucking wear them!! these dumbass companies would benefit from being more inclusive because they'd make a whole hell of a lot more sales. I am so sick of being forced to shop in the women's section for shoes when I'm looking for something unisex styled because women's shoes are NOT unisex in style most of the time and lets be honest, men's shoes are made sturdier. god forbid small women (and genderqueer people) want a solid-made tactical boot and not some 2 cent sweatshop h&m heeled garbage that breaks after a single wear.

it's so eternally annoying to me that men's clothing (including shoes) can be considered the most universally genderless and yet, the sizing is exclusive to what is ~typical~ while it's so hard to find women's clothes that can be considered "genderless". every shoe has a heel, every shirt is cropped or has restrictive sleeves.
