Kukaka insect cafe- Akim!

(I’m posting this mostly for myself and to document my thoughts on the dolls i get!!)

I got Akim as a gift for my birthday, and at first, I was genuinely convinced she was a girl but according to the discord server she isn’t, but I will continue to refer to her as she as thats how I see my own doll, ANYWAYS!

She’s absolutely adorable, I love the art style of the box, the card, and the doll itself, BUT they do have a lot of quality control issues, nothing major but it is enough for the average person to feel disappointed by it, I paid for her almost as much as I did for my UFdoll blindbox, with way less accessories.

I don’t regret getting her at all, shes very unique and I can’t find any other dolls with similar proportions or artstyle! But here are the problems I’ve seen this doll have so far:

-antennas breaking easily in the cold and during transit.

-their bug abdomens fall out very easily.

-akim’s outfit is very thick (velcro, shirt, vest, all get in the way of the wing magnets).

-akim’s ahoge breaks off easily.

Would I get one again?

yes!! Maybe not from this line, but I’ll definitely be looking out for their future releases!!! It’s understandable that the current line has some issues, it IS their first release, and a lot of these issues were brought to their attention, and they stated they are working on them!

My newest little one is very little indeed!

I heard about these dolls when @tiffyfoundsomething did an unboxing post in February, tried to resist for two months, and finally gave in. And here is my little Lemon!

I was able to give my little doll some eyelashes! I used the very ends of bottom lashes which get as small as 1mm! I am really happy I was able to find lashes small enough and I am super happy with how it turned out looking.

I think I will go with Madigan and will style them in to a medieval style unicorn 🤔 the deer horns were just not working out....

i would like to find a yarn color that is roughly close to this shade of orange:

as the doll is going to be using dark blue eyes and the contrast would look pretty good (ty to my friend for helping me narrow down colors here lol) but well. you would not believe how hard it is to find a more muted light orange. i have been to specialty yarn sites. if i did either of the two multi-colored yarns, it would be for highlights/still mostly orange just with other tones in there :) if u have specific opinions on this please comment bc good god i hate yarn shopping for this.

theyre a doll chateau noah!! hand for scale lmao. im so excited to paint them but i still need to figure out what i want them to look like. i tried to brainstorm some ideas but it was tricky bc i couldnt find a many examples of the peach skin aside from the swatch photo so i wasnt sure what colors would look good, which in turn meant i wasnt sure what style i wanted to go for... i was pleasantly surprised that it was not nearly as pink as id expected, which really opens up my options!! gonna revisit my sketches today & see what i come up with :)

astarion's honestly the perfect candidate for one of those beautiful ball jointed dolls that are super nicely painted and have like tons of nice clothes but alas im not a wealthy hobbyist and i also dont enjoy any dolls bigger than 1/6 (and they just dont make a lot of dolls that small that aren't babies or fairies or animals... sigh)

After months of saying I'd get around to it, finally sculpted Cordula's hearing aids. They are TEENSY and I still have more sanding to do after I bake them lol. Also made a cane that DEFINITELY will be sanded a bit for her so :)
