At least in the US, most people put mayo on their sandwich if they want something to make it not dry (and other things if you wanna get fancier like mustard or pesto or hummus) but anyway the US tends to use mayo rather than butter on sandwiches

Fascinating! I also realized there's probably a cultural/linguistical miscommunication floating around, because to me anything involving bread as the main base is a sandwich (because the closest direct translated word, smörgås, is used as a catch-all in Swedish). Toast? Sandwich. A filled baguette? Sandwich. A piece of black bread piled high with shrimp? Sandwich. A piece of bread with a layer of butter spread over it? Sandwich.

Since I kind of feel responsible for the bread war I came back to clarify what I wanted to know when I asked about your last sandwich:

What ingredients did you put between two slices of bread the last time you did (as a meal, not a snack)?

I was hoping for a wildly unusual sandwich or an expensive one because I don´t make sandwiches often, I mostly eat a single slice of bread with very few toppings.

Back in school, a friend of mine invited me over and we constructed a sandwich from all the things that were in the fridge and freezer. It was too big to eat, tasted ok and had like four slices of fancy american bread (big white toast bread without whole grains).

I was looking for food inspiration, not to start a heated discussion.

After taking his first dose of serum, Kirk's sense of smell heightened considerably, making strong fragrances a little too overwhelming for comfort. He often carries notes of coffee, paper, rosewood and lemongrass, though petrichor is noticable when he's taken a fresh dose. As Man-Bat, Kirk smells of crisp, cold air, of dark animal rage and forbidden places. Should anyone get close enough, it's possible to smell iron on him should he have fed recently, having gorged himself on the warm blood of an unfortunate being.

Warm but dry. Kirk washes his hands often and uses gloves in his work but forgets to keep moisturizer on hand in order to help his skin stay in good condition. He has a few calluses on his fingers from taking extensive notes and working long hours into the night.

It depends. Kirk sometimes goes without eating for hours, only remembering to eat when his stomach complains how long it's been since his last meal. This happens a lot less after taking his initial dose of serum, becoming absolutely ravenous as his body underwent both physical and mental changes in preparation for his upcoming transformation. Kirk eats breakfast at the very least, often enjoying a bowl of porridge or muesli while on occasion taking the time to make himself some smörgås, open-faced sandwiches with cheese, cold cuts of meat or sliced vegetables depending on what he's got in the fridge. After breakfast, he's fuelled and focused for the best part of the day and will eat whatever is filling later on after finishing up work for the day. After becoming Man-Bat, Kirk requires more calories than a regular human male his age and position, leaning towards meatier (or higher calorie) fare to give his body the nutritional boost it craves.

He is incredibly off-key and can't carry a song to save his life, although Man-Bat can perform a variety of sounds at hertzes humans are incapable of perceiving.

Light, muted colours. Kirk likes dressing plain, nothing too fancy or extravagant even while working. Trousers, a shirt and shoes are enough beneath his lab coat which more often than not has a few stains decorating it here and there due to accidental spills in his lab. Outside of work, Kirk often maintains this simplicity unless going somewhere that requires formal attire, requiring nothing more than a good-quality shirt and pants to be happy. He rarely opts for anything flashy, preferring less eye-catching tones and likes his clothing to come in shades of white, khaki or hues of soft blue, green or yellow. As long as it's not too bright or overly patterned it'll do, though sometimes he likes wearing darker, richer colours during winter. His appearance while sparse is usually clean and well-kept, if simple and overly casual for a man of his status. As Man-Bat, his concerns about clothing goes flying out of the window. It's too tight, too restricting and often ends up getting torn to pieces anyway thanks to his additional size and increased musculature - yet another reason why he prefers simple, inexpensive clothing, as it doesn't hurt his pocket (and pride) nearly as much when he reverts back to human form with only the tattered remnants of what he was last wearing.

Very much so. Even as a child with a disability, Kirk was raised by loving parents who never treated him as anything less, working hard to see to his needs and ensure he never went without affection. Kirk maintains a similar mentality, often liking to hold his partner's hand, kiss them on the cheek and/or forehead, run his fingers through their hair and simply just enjoy being close to them. He's always tried his best to do right thing and be empathic towards others, which is harder as a grown man without many friends so he'll reserve the majority of his love and affection for his partner and closest friends, providing they are comfortable with what others may see as overly affectionate...

Kirk sleeps like a log. Nothing is capable of disturbing him if his cochlear implants have been switched off, a given considering his chronic deafness but the man will sprawl, spread and stretch from one side of the bed to the other, especially after taking his first dose of bat serum. His body temperature increased along with his senses and ability to perceive sound, making the usage of bedsheets a little too warm at times. He most often sleeps on his back, though as Man-Bat, Kirk WILL perch upside down as bats are known to do, keeping his immense wings wrapped around his own body to prepare for flight at a moment's notice.

Pickled Cucumbers

These tasty Pickled Cucumbers are easily made and ready to add their bite, crunch and tang to your meat, fish, smörgås or crispbread in under half an hour!

Ingredients (serves 2):

1 1/2 heaped tablespoon caster sugar

3/4 teaspoon fleur de sel or sea salt flakes

1/4 teaspoon dried dill

3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1/3 large cucumber, rinsed

In a small bowl, combine caster sugar, fleur de sel and dill. Give a good stir. Stir in apple cider vinegar, until sugar and salt are completely dissolved. 

Cut cucumber into thin slices, and stir them into the vinegar mixture. Press the cucumber slices gently so that they are submerged in pickling mixture. Allow to sit, at room temperature, at least half an hour.

Serve Pickled Cucumbers with Swedish Meatballs, Poached Salmon,, Strömming Burgare, or onto Rye Bread.
