Hello friend! I was wondering if you could write a headcanon with Mitsui practicing with his s/o? If not that’s totally ok and I hope you have a good one 💝
Mitsui Hisashi practicing with his S/O
Tumblr media
I have no understanding of Basketball aside from what was shown in the Manga, plan don't come at me if this doesn't make sense :')
Warnings: gn!reader.
Tumblr media
Mitsui is the type of boyfriend who starts randomly shadowboxing you, except with Basketball moves—dribbling with nothing in his hands, uselessly jumping, and avoiding you before shooting in an invisible basket, and he keeps track of the points too. This is his strategy to get you as a partner for 1v1. It's annoying when you don't expect it, but when you do expect it and start to join him, it's usually by "stopping" the invisible ball. It's a little silly, but it works.
If you also play basketball and have enough energy to spare, this is where the practice starts.
If you're feeling under the weather, or are irritated, Hisashi knows when to quit his shadow-basket-moves as he likes to call it, even if he's a little hurt on the inside, he gets over it in a second, it's understandable to decline his invite to play when you aren't up to it.
Before the action begins, occasionally you compete for a snack, whoever scores the lowest has to buy it. It takes place in his neighborhood outdoor basketball court.
However, If you're new to basketball Hisashi won't ask for practice, especially if he is getting ready for a big match, it will just be unbalanced and won't do much for him. Mean, but practicing by himself will be more effective, he thinks.
Experienced s/o brings a challenge he is happy to accept, it will be helpful for him to gain enthusiasm and stamina, particularly after his conflict. Not only that but his partner can also try to execute new moves against him. If they succeed and score a point, he is proud and happy for them, if they fail? He encourages them to get better.
``Sorry...``
It was frustrating for him to lose in practice again and again, after the hiatus, yet when you silently attempted to not go all out on him, he saw right through you, and it irritated him more. Hisashi told you to not go easy on him, he has to get better somehow and it should begin with losses, he has to spot the misstep and correct it himself.
``It's all good.`` A light sheen of sweat covers his face, now resting on the court with crossed legs and the ball in the center. His elbows are on the dirty ground, holding up his torso. Desperate gulps of air enter his lungs.
Already tired? Damn. That's what he gets for not touching anything else but people with his fists for that long.
A cold object taps his shoulder, forcing him to open his eyes and lift his head from his shoulder.
``Water?`` He meets your (E/C) eyes and finds the orange hue of sky behind your gentle smile, he notes that you've barely broken a sweat. Damn him again!
Taking the cold object from your hands, he straightens up, taking a big sip of water.
A giggle from you interrupts him. Are you laughing at him?
``What?`` He stretches out the syllables.
``Heh, You drink like a child Hisashi...!`` another burst of laughter comes out of your pretty lips.
He knows that the tips of his ears are becoming a bit red.
I drink like a kid?
``What does that mean!?`` His embarrassment only brightens your teasing laughter, a music he'll never get tired of.
Drinking with both hands on the bottle, inhaling water, and forgetting to breathe while gurgling, a loud sound emits whenever he finally takes a breather.
His eyes gradually blink at you before a red hue attacks his face, and his hands slowly reach out to give you the bottle, while he rethinks his entire life and concludes that he has never grown out of the habit.
Your hands around his shoulders only bring heat to his complexion, all while talking about how cute he is, not realizing his actions until too late, your kisses land on his cheek and he doesn't dare look your way. He doesn't acknowledge the smoke coming out of his ears either.

Slam Dunk Oneshot | Mitsui Hisashi x Reader Oneshot | Mitsui Hisashi x You
A storm is coming…
🍑 ⋆。˚ ☁︎ ˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆ 🍑 ⋆。˚ ☁︎ ˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆ 🍑
“F/n-chan!”
“?” You turned to face the voice that called your name by the shoe lockers. It was Mitsui. “Has practice been cancelled for you today too, Mitsui-kun?”
“Coach said it would be too dangerous for us to still be at the gym when the storm gets stronger. So let’s go home together.”
You looked him over, his uniform shirt untucked, duffel bag slung on one shoulder, short hair messy like he had just run with all his might just to catch up to you. You stood on your tiptoes and tried fixing his hair, steadying your other hand on his chest, “You’re only coming with me because you don’t have an umbrella, right? Did you forget it at home again?”
He captured your wrist in one swift motion, “Hey, F/n-chan,” you looked into his eyes, they were crinkled at the corners from his grin, and there was hidden emotion in those dark irises, “It’s rare that I get to go home with my favorite neighbor. I’ll repay this umbrella loan with dinner, okay? We just need to make a quick stop at the konbini.”
His boyish smile was bright amidst the overcast sky. It suddenly occurred to you that he was handsome; like it was something you had forgotten. You pushed the umbrella into his hand, fingers brushing his calloused palm, insisting, “Okay but, the taller one should hold it.”
⋆。˚ ☁︎ ˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆
Mitsui… He didn’t think this far ahead. He had only meant to hitch a sweet umbrella ride back home with you, walking close together in the pouring rain, his arm around your shoulders. But you had touched him first and his brain short-circuited; in that split-second, he became fixated with the idea of extending the time you had together. He gave his cheek a slap.
In front of you, he’s brazen-faced. But inside, he’s dying.
Under the fluorescent lights of the konbini, he turned his gaze to you as you checked the various bowls and plastic packages stacked neatly on the shelf. You were biting your lower lip, unsure of which instant ramen brand to go with. There was a strange feeling in his chest as he wondered what it was like to be bitten — wait, huh? No, he wasn’t thinking that at all. Not. At. All. Your eyelashes fluttered as you looked up at him innocently, “I want us to eat the same one. Will you pick, Mitsui-kun?”
Mitsui felt dizzy. He can’t take this. (Get a grip, asshole!)
“Yeah, leave it to me.”
He extracted two packets from the orderly pile and gave them to you to hold. “Do you mind if I just get one more thing? I ran out of it at home. Meet you at the cash register in a minute,” and without another word, took off towards the direction of the chilled drinks, his feet taking quick, certain steps. Mitsui knew he needed the cool air to calm himself down somehow.
Ruffling the back of his hair in mild agitation, he stared at the refrigerator for what felt like an eternity. He was just going to purchase a few cans of Pocari, like always, but he needed every second to extinguish that blush that was threatening to take over his entire face.
You peeked from behind him, hair spilling to the side as you tilted your head, “Choosing a sports drink?” He pretended he was fine with you so close. Just why were you so much cuter at this distance? He stretched his arms, trying to reclaim some space, “Seems like it’s going to rain hard until tomorrow. I should be productive at home with my weight training in case practice gets cancelled again.”
You looked at him thoughtfully “I see… I was wrong then. During the walk here, you said your parents have been out all week. So I thought you were going to buy something else…”
Mitsui stilled. Is this really happening right now? The rapid thrum of his heart was echoing loudly in his ears. He felt like he was losing it. “F/n…”
But you, you waved a tube of toothpaste and a soft-bristled nylon toothbrush in his face. It was the special kind that only people who need to take extra care of their teeth would buy. “I thought you needed these essential items.”
He thought his heart might have burst right then and there.
“You’re screwing with me, aren’t you?”
⋆。˚ ☁︎ ˚。⋆。˚☽˚。⋆
By the time you both had reached the apartment building, your socks were soaked, and Mitsui’s shoulder, too large to be contained in your tiny umbrella, was dripping wet. You were shivering from the cold, and his arm was still draped around you, trying to keep you warm. Your fingernails were turning blue. Getting off at the floor you both lived on, you gently pulled him down by the collar to whisper in his ear, “I’m sorry about your shoulder. I think we both should have a shower first and change into warmer clothes. I’ll come over when I’m done, promise I’ll be quick.” You patted his cheek before you unlocked the door to your apartment unit, disappearing inside.
Mitsui was thinking of taking a nice cold shower. Yes, that sounded about right.
15 minutes later, you knocked on his door holding a bowl containing THREE soft boiled eggs. “Wha- Why did you cook so many?” Your eyes zeroed in on his shoulder, the same one that was attacked by rainwater mere minutes before, and then swept your gaze back to his face, “I felt sorry that I didn’t have any meat for you. Athletes need their protein, and I didn’t want you to be hungry.”
Mitsui’s surprised expression softened, and he let out a short laugh. A light hand on your lower back, he ushered you inside and onto the floor table, his place filled with the savory scent of the ramen broth.
You had dinner side by side on that short-legged table, the very same one where you two used to do schoolwork on in junior high school. Life was simpler then, but this was nice, too. It was comforting to be back here, a hot bowl of noodles prepared by Mitsui himself, with nothing but the steady pitter-patter of the raindrops outside the glass windows. You listened as he told you all about his teammates and their crazy antics. You haven’t seen him this excited in a long time.
When you had both finished your meals, you leaned on his shoulder. It went stiff, was your head heavy? He breathed out, “Sleepy?”
“No, we… just haven’t done this in a while. Right, Mitsui-kun? Didn’t you miss this too?”
He sighed, he was making up for lost time in every aspect of his life. With that honest confession, he took your hand in his, and on the back of it traced reassuring circles with his thumb. He thought about all those times he showed up at your door to get cleaned up after a beating; it was true, he hadn’t shared a proper meal with you in literal years.
After a moment, he says, “Easy. We’ll see each other more often. Come to my games, and we’ll eat whatever you want after. I’ll keep you company while you prepare for entrance exams. I’ll drop by your classroom during breaks to get some of your bento…”
You shoved him playfully before he could ramble any further, your pretty face pouting, “Come on, now you’re just joking around.” He got up and flashed that smug smile of his, before making his way to the kitchen sink with the empty bowls.
Yawning, you placed your head down on the table in his absence. Your eyelids were heavy, and you felt the tension in your neck from all the nights you spent studying. Hoping to find a pain relief patch in his duffel bag nearby, you zipped it open. It was filled with all sorts of things — his basketball shoes, extra clothes, and… a clean, dry, folding umbrella.

Probably the first time ever posting slam dunk related art here. This is for a test phone charm print. I’m still not sure if the shape will work, but I like how I drew it.

Hey! I read and loved your Mitsui headcanon (practicing with his s/o)! I was wondering if you could write one abt comforting his s/o after being scared by some delinquents around town?
Tumblr media
Ignore the goofy pic, please. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed my mitsui hcs. He is a character I didn't know what to think about at first, but asks help me delve into him a bit deeper, which I'm grateful for. Anyway, I hope you like this one too!!
Tumblr media
At first, his thoughts are riddled with the past, Mitsui's history as a delinquent might have been short when compared to others, but that doesn't carry any weight when it comes to gangs and groups of delinquents, whose members Mitsui had definitely messed with. It sets off more than one alarm, which he finds incredibly annoying since his past actions always seem to catch up to him. He can't thank Hotta enough for backing him up during these times and helping him separate ties he alone can't cut from the shadows. Mitsui owes him so much.
However, after that split-second thinking session, Mitsui's instinct is to get closer to your frame. He has never been good at comforting others, but now, even with awkward angles, he tries to soothe the tears that might be spilling out or to stop the over-beating of your heart and the shake of your hands.
His hands are bigger than yours, wider and longer but still slimmer as they linger on your digits.
He stands in front of you and brings up an arm over your shoulder. The action lets you fall into his embrace, and Mitsui can not even look down at your head as his sense of responsibility weights down on his shoulders. Yet he doesn't stop his body from folding itself over you, feeling your tears on his shoulder as he brings safety by hugging.
Mitsui is glad you've informed this to him, since you trust him enough that instead of going home and suffering the burden alone, you decided to share it with him and come to his house after the whole ordeal. It makes him feel happy how you trust and view him, but also incredibly guilty, since he might be at fault.
By the time exhaustion chips away your shivers and cries on the couch, putting you peacefully asleep on his chest, Mitsui already knows what he has to do the next morning as he wraps his arms tighter around you. By the way, his blood boils at the small details you've shared with him about the punks and your experience. It's not going to be pretty.

physical touch in slam dunk
Tumblr media
There is a big difference between the dynamics of friendships involving two girls, compared to a friendship with two boys. Girls are more likely to be communicative with how they appreciate each other. Boys don’t communicate this verbally, due to not wanting to come off as “cheesy” or “corny”. Instead, they show their affection/appreciation towards each other through physical touch. While not all guys are like this, a lot of boys are very touchy with each other, even coming off as gay at times.
Slam Dunk presents an accurate portrayal of male friendships. Their relationships with each other reflects on their age and maturity, and I believe it is part of why Shohoku and their dynamic as a team is so likable.
Something that I believe is notable is that the boys aren’t emotionally vulnerable with each other. Both Ryota Miyagi and Hanamichi Sakuragi are shown to have rough backgrounds, but neither of them are shown to tell their teammates about it. And they aren’t visibly depressed in front of the team.
I think the most emotionally vulnerable moments are from Mitsui and Akagi, who are both the oldest of the team.
Mitsui, who had hid his feelings of wanting to go back to basketball, finally broke down when Anzai walked back into the gym. Mitsui clearly did not intend to break down like this, I think he was just caught in the moment. The guys didn’t say anything about this, partially because they were still pissed at Mitsui for what happened, but also because they probably wouldn’t have known how to handle that at the moment.
Tumblr media
The moment in the series to me that signified the most about how the boys aren’t vulnerable to each other was when Akagi cried, and said that the team was amazing. The guys didn’t comfort him, but instead were like “Why you crying?” and then went on to make fun of him. I think this is realistic compared to other series where the guys are all comforting each other, as they are teen boys and they don’t want to come off as soft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another vulnerable moment in the series was when Miyagi and Sakuragi both cried in front of each other because of their bad luck with girls. This wasn’t intentional either, and I think it was the result of the heat of the moment.
Tumblr media
Instead of being affectionate through words, physical touch is used to show the boys’ friendliness with each other.
An example of this is during their games. When the team scores, they high five each other, fist bump, or pat each other. While this is typical behavior for teams, it is used to show Rukawa growing closer to the team, as he ends up engaging in this as well.
Tumblr media
Additionally, when Shohoku lost against Kainan, Sakuragi cried. Akagi doesn’t say anything to comfort him in particular, but he pats Sakuragi and walks with him. I think this showed his care for Sakuragi, and he felt bad seeing him like that, it just wasn’t portrayed with words.
Tumblr media
And when Akagi cried after winning against Ryonan, Sakuragi wraps his arm around Akagi and tells him to come line up with him. Again, nothing particularly comforting is said verbally, but it’s shown through actions.
Tumblr media
Another big moment, arguably one of the biggest in the series, was Sakuragi and Rukawa going up to each other and high fiving after winning against Sannoh. Rukawa is shown before this to have high fived or fist bumped other members of the team, but not Sakuragi. Due to their “rivalry”, the two didn’t say anything and just looked at each other for a second before turning away. However, their high five signified how the two had grown close, as teammates and as friends.
Tumblr media
Showing emotional vulnerability and closeness through physical touch is very effective and provides a sense of realism, and I believe that Slam Dunk would not have been as strong of a series if the physical touch between the team was not presented.
