I think it's Extremely Relevant right now to talk about Skylanders' military propaganda [Edit].
I will not be graphic. But your further research on this... most likely will be, at least in a descriptive way.
Tumblr media
A. Skylanders was created by Activision, the same company that made Call of Duty. Call of Duty (among others) is a game used to reel in youth for army recruitment. Just to picture what's the typical order of business for leaders at the company.
B. The whole idea of the Academy, ranks, "Us vs Them" mentality. "Light and order" vs "Darkness and anarchy". Regardless of your opinions on Anarchy as a system, darkness often equaling Kaos' workers such as trolls (and even gyps*es), and for Skylanders meaning dark skinned creatures, is pretty clear sign of their idea of evil.
[Edit: Light=Good and Darkness=Evil is not a universal experience. Multiple cultures consider it just as sacred, an equal, instead of an opposite to Light. Symbolically and Philosophically, there's more to it, beyond the typical eurocentric imaginary.
Speaking of eurocentric imaginary: to an uncritical consumer, this could potentially reinforce their ideas of good and evil. There is little wiggle room for these ideals to be challenged. They are exceptions of Skylanders' norm.]
C. Just in Superchargers, there are references to a Border being kept between Skylands and Outlands, High Volt being this "elite guard" that protects the border. Notice he looks like a riot police, in colors and gear- one of which is a riot shield. Protesting is a right, and in these parts of the world, it is often met with unhinged police violence. Regardless of your opinions on borders, the way such a thing is enforced in the USA is extremely violent. Even here in Puerto Rico, we have border patrol and constant surveillance (mostly aimed at keeping out our Dominican neighbors).
Do not get me started on the long history of Puertorrican oppression inflicted by USA Imperialism. (Agent Orange, Forced Sterilization, Vieques Occupation).
[Edit: Just... Copaganda in My video game? No, thank you. For ME, If I portray High Volt, I'd redesign and reinterpret him. He's like, a lightbulb. Perhaps he is part of a watch tower, but for other purposes].
D. Sorry, Nightfall here goes another problematic thing about you: Nightfall is dressed like a type of Navy admiral: A long coat with yellow buttons and yellow cord epaulets. She also has a vehicle called the Sea Shadow, referencing a real-life military ship designed for surveillance.
[Edit: Not every country has a military. And those who do have the biggest budget for it are typically using it as an imperial, colonial force. This is important, more so because Skylanders' target audience is the young eurocentric USAmerican. The parent company is Activision Blizzard, stationed in USA. The way other Skylanders talk about the Superchargers is like the Air Force are talked about by others in the army- they are the more "prestigious" ones with shiny new vehicles lmao].
E. The idea is that one can be a hero through this hard, thankless fighting... in another's land, "Securing" that land from the "evil ones". Sounds like Occupation and / or a Coup to me. Goes hand in hand with the point about Borders and Light vs Darkness.
[Edit: People. I am talking about this above with Manifest Destiny in mind. I am not claiming all the Skylanders are colonizers, lol! I'm saying there's way too many references to USA military propaganda to ignore. I ask you to use your own discernment / research to make your conclusions. There are things I didn't pick up.
I simply did Not appreciate Buzz telling Stormblade to do Psychological Warfare, or calling Glumshanks an "apple-polishing troll" when the guy just wanted to help. To me, this is not funny haha. It's funny like weird!]
___
These are the things on top of my head I've wanted to talk about for a while, but now more than ever is pressing to bring it up and discuss with intent to move forward. Don't go "You're overreacting" Please don't tell me I don't know anything about something I experience every day. Also, don't put words in my mouth, thanks. You can visit this post if you have questions.
If you can help it, don't give Activision any more of your money, for example, buying their newer games. Buy second hand.
Avoid spending at companies like Airbnb (which not just supports settlers but directly worsens my country's housing crisis), Apple, Hp, Motorola, McDonald's, Starbucks, Coca Cola, Mars chocolate, Nestle are a few others that dont have a clean track record. Get familiar with modern-day imperialist interest around you on your own, or with friends.
👋[If your knee-jerk reaction to this is to hate me perhaps inspect why that is? I'm not a big influential blog. Why you threatened? I can't force you or bully you to do anything, I'm just making my opinions known].

Did you know? In Xbox editions of Trap Team, SuperChargers, and Imaginators, there is a glitch that causes the entire game to run notably slower, including timers, Skylander movement, and even the music. This occurs from improperly exiting or minimizing any of those games and removing your current Skylander from the Portal of Power before resuming the game. Interetingly, when trying to record the messed up audio with Xbox's video capture feature, no audio is recorded at all.
To fix the glitch on Imaginators, the player can talk to an NPC, where the game will refresh or update itself and fix half way through. For SuperChargers, it is possible to fix it through walking around, talking to NPCs, or loading a new area, but it is easier to simply refresh or restart the game manually.
Interestingly, those solutions don't work on Trap Team. The best known solution is to load a level with an arena battle at the end, like Nightmare Express, and fight as long as you can. When all the enemies spawn, the game will attempt to load the ending dialogue and may return the player to the Academy (which is one of the only possible ways to achieve 0 stars in the level). The game can also be manually reloaded and restarted instead.

Thespian's Masterpost!
hi! Thought I should make this since it's pretty essential to most blogs.
I'm Thespian, although I go by Mirika on other parts of the internet. I'm an Ao3 author, writing for Genshin Impact, and occasionally dabbles in crossovers with other fandoms with my friend Zhelday there. I live in Australia, so if I take a few hours longer than usual to respond, that'll be why. If I complain about the god-awful heat in December, that's also why.
On here I post about three things: Fandoms, Writing, and occasionally Personal. Okay I used to try and mark my posts with specialised tags but uh I've realised that I cannot remember for the life of me to do that so... sorry. A note, some of my writing posts will include mentions of whump, therefore including subjects of torture, manipulation, and overall pain. If I do talk about my original story, there will also be mentions of dysphoria.
I'm an aspiring Voice Actor and also have a YouTube channel where I make edits! It's quite dry now but I'll have MVs and other things on there later- I'm currently working on a few different videos.
posts I'm pinning for both you guys and my personal reference:
My ongoing conversation with an Ao3 author
Alternate ideas to catboy AUs
Albedo AU I don't have the time for but would love to see if someone else would like to
Side dialogue from my life
My fandoms:
Genshin Impact (my main and what I talk about most!)

Cookie Run Kingdom (though I haven't played in a while)
Ghost and Pals/Qualia Automata

Albaether- Albedo/Aether, Genshin Impact
Rhinealice- Rhinedottir/Alice, Genshin Impact
Sucredo- Sucrose/Nigredo (Subject Two), Genshin Impact
Albeula- Albedo/Eula, Genshin Impact (not as much as Albaether but I like the dynamic)

Callie & Marie- Splatoon
Tamari & Mariyam- Qualia Automata
Arc & Say- Ghost and Pals
there are probably more but I can't remember them rn (æ)
Things you Don't Talk About Around Me
Disney (I have no respect after they ripped off Ever After High and killed it)
Politics (sue me but its boring and I'm not here for reality)
AI (just. No. I'm a writer.)
Not really sure what else to add- I am a minor, so please be careful how you treat me. I will not tolerate disrespect or just general bad treatment. That also means you can't commission me for stories or oneshots just yet, but if you do put in an ask that gives me inspiration you will get yourself a oneshot. I just can't be paid yet.
I do sometimes write fanfics on this site, but not often as I'm not good at tagging them and I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.
The ask box is open, please come in and talk if you like!
Thank you for getting this far, sorry for the lack of graphics, and have fun!

September NPD: Grand Theft Auto 5 Sales Boost Industry [Update]
It's a good thing for everyone! According to the NPD Group, the videogame industry's performance in physical retail was up 27 percent over the course of September. $1.07 Billion, compared to $848 million in the previous year.
Predictably, the most of the increased revenue came from the software segment, which is also known as "where all the Grand Theft Auto 5 money is stored." The new physical sales for console and portable games in September totaled $754.3 million, which is a 52 percent increase over $497.5 million earned during the same time frame the previous year. GTA 5 understandably tops the list of September's top 10 most-sold games, followed by Madden NFL 25 and NBA 2k14.
The hardware sales of the period resulted in $183.2million, 13 percent less than September 2012's figures. The Nintendo 3DS had its fifth month as the top-selling thing in the segment, while Wii U sales increased "more than 200 percent" over August, but Nintendo abstained from providing specific figures on how many Wii U boxes that works out to.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 broke the Xbox 360's record-breaking streak and was the best-selling console for the period, largely thanks to the available Grand Theft Auto 5 bundle as per NPD Group analyst Liam Callahan.
The Accessories segment, which contains giftcards, digital currency vouchers, Disney Infinity/Skylanders figures and other various items, was mostly unchanged year-over-year, with only an increase of 2 percent in sales to $142.3 million.
Update: Microsoft has chimed in saying that it made 80 million sales to retailers of Xbox 360 worldwide in September, with console sales hitting $401.2 million. The Xbox 360 was the No. top-selling console last month, Microsoft instead says that it remains the top console in the US in 2013. Clever words and team.

Madden NFL 25 (360, PS3)
NBA 2k14 (360, PC3, Mac)

Nintendo 3DS Remains No. 1, Wii U Responds to Price Cut
Nintendo enters the critical sales season of the holiday season with great momentum as Nintendo 3DS ended up as the top-selling video game console in the U.S. for the fifth consecutive month and Wii U enjoyed new momentum after the price cut.
On October. 15 Nintendo announced that Pokemon X (and Pokemon Y) launched worldwide on Oct. 12. They sold more than 4,000,000 units in the first two days. The next NPD Report will include the complete breakdown of U.S. sales as well as a comprehensive review of the new Nintendo 2DS handheld. Nintendo 3DS gamers have two exciting games in the works, the Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds, and Mario Party: Island Tour.
On Sept. 20, Nintendo reduced the price of the Wii U Deluxe Set by $50 to the suggested retail price of $299.99 and also launched a limited-edition bundle that features a download code for the digital version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. The sales of Wii U hardware in September were up by more than 200 percent over sales in August and this is despite just 15 days of data reported at the new price. In the coming weeks and months, Wii U fans can anticipate playing Wii Party U (Oct. 25), Wii Fit U (Nintendo eShop ), Nov. 1) Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games (Nov. 15) and Super Mario 3D World (Nov. 22).
*Data on physical sales of games in September comes from the NPD Group. Data on digital downloads of games, the combined digital and physical lives-to-date figures, and data regarding digital games are from Nintendo's internal sales figures. Except for the exceptions, all numbers are specific to the United States.

September NPD: Grand Theft Auto 5 Sales Increase Industry [Update]
Everyone, this is fantastic news! The NPD Group reports that the video game industry's performance in the retail sector was up by 27 percent year-over-year for the month of September: $1.07 billion this year versus $848 million last year.
It's no surprise that the majority of that boosted income was derived from the software segment, also known as "where all the Grand Theft Auto 5 money lives." New physical sales for consoles and portable software during September totaled $754.3 million, a 52 percent increase from the $497.5 million that was earned in the same time frame last year. GTA 5 is clearly the most played game in September followed by Madden NFL 25 (NBA 2k14), and Madden NFL 25 (NBA 3k14).
Hardware sales for the month resulted in $183.2 million, which is 13 percent lower than the amount that were earned in September of 2012. The Nintendo 3DS was the top-selling product in the category for five months. https://minecraftservers.cc/ Wii U sales increased more than 200 percent over August. However, Nintendo did not provide any figures on how many Wii U boxes this translates to.
According to Liam Callahan, NPD Group analyst Liam Callahan, NPD Group analyst PlayStation 3 broke the Xbox 360’s long-running streak of sales and was the most popular console of the time. This was due in large part to the PlayStation 3's Grand Theft Auto 5 bundle.
The Accessories segment, which includes giftcards, digital currency vouchers, Skylanders/Disney's Infinity figures and other various products, was basically unchanged year-over-year, with only a 2 percent increase in sales at $142.3 million.
Update: Microsoft has chimed in, noting that it reached 80 million sales to retailers of the Xbox 360 worldwide in September and console sales averaging $401.2 million. The Xbox 360 was the No. top-selling console last month, Microsoft instead says that it is still the top console in the US in 2013. Clever phrasing and team.

The best Skyrim mods you can use right now to upgrade the game | GamesRadar+
Tumblr media
💾 ►►► DOWNLOAD FILE 🔥🔥🔥 Skyrim Special Edition is a great improvement on the way base-game Skyrim looks in terms of graphics. The difference that graphic mods can make to Skyrim can make it feel like a recent AAA title instead of a game that was released over half a decade ago. Graphic mods are also a great way to make your latest Skyrim gameplay feel more unique by giving authenticity to the regions and the people. Check Out This Mod. In fact, it serves as a graphic overhaul for the entire game since it completely changes the way visuals are perceived in the many regions of Skyrim. Weather included. This mod tweaks the way the sun affects lens flare, as well as certain effects of thunder including sounds and many other particles that come to play whenever the weather changes in the northern lands of Tamriel. Before downloading this mod, make sure that your computer is capable of processing a lot of particles at once. But this mod makes it feel much more realistic than it does in the base game by allowing torches to naturally light up surroundings. Now it can interact with many objects at once, which makes everything look as vibrant as possible — even at night! Much easier getting around and I know this removes some of the difficulty, but in my eyes graphics are key to enjoying a fantasy game. This mod completely changes the way water looks in the game and makes it far more realistic. Like, almost a 10x difference in quality. Talk about some seriously deep immersion. Even though this might seem like a small little detail, adding smoke to the fire you carry in the game makes it look astonishingly good. Fire, with this mod, offers real billowing smoke and torches will have that emblematic trail that they often produce in real life. It really adds a whole new level of depth to the game. This is one of those mods you never knew you really needed until you install it. The Darker Nights mod makes nights actually feel like nights by decreasing the amount of ambient light that there is in the environment when the sun goes down. This mod changes the regular texture that the game has to an incredibly highly defined set of images, which make caves and other sources of dust look much better. Certainly more realistic at least. Have you ever noticed how lights seem to just be placed in certain spots, but light magically illuminates the entire room? This mod changes the way that works completely. It makes rooms and other areas of the game feel much more natural by decreasing the range of how far candles and other small sources of light can travel. You know, like in real life. It makes the night sky look as vibrant as it would in any alien planet that you see in most Hollywood film. So make sure to take a good look at the night sky after installing this amazing mod! Plants will feel much more alive than ever, same with taller trees. And it will properly complement the eternal wind sounds that you hear whenever you walk around the lands. Enhanced Blood Textures makes the bloodstains plus any other source of blood in the game look much more realistic by increasing the texture quality that the base game has to offer. Even though Vivid Weathers is more of a weather overhaul addition, the way it makes the game look is so drastic that it truly deserves a spot on this list. Skyland makes ground textures look incredibly well-polished thanks to many new HD textures added to the map. Even if you get a little too close. Have you ever seen those weird smudges that seem to pop up on objects when you stand close? This mod aims to fix that. It sounds crazy but it really works out well. But it adds a lot of depth to the experience by thrusting you into a much more realistic world. This mod also modifies water reflections, offers better translucent surfaces, and modifies lighting depending on the time of the day and weather.
