Skench and Spoorn were only owlets when their lives were turned on their heads. Skench, having witnessed her parents' demise at the talons of a once-trusted neighbor, suffers from immense paranoia. Everyone is out to get her. Nobody can be trusted.

Spoorn, belonging to such a small species of owl, feels helpless in a world where they could only stand back and watch as their parents were slaughtered by an attacking predator. A black mirror of Soren and Gylfie, the owls found one another in an orphanage. Skench learns to trust only Spoorn. Spoorn vows to never be weak again. Together, they grow into power within this orphanage, and that power slowly corrupts them...
