Ruby's turn to throw a party! Having learned that the Watering Hole Juice Bar is lousy, I threw hers at the Summer Festival.
Tumblr media
And look who the first guest is!
Tumblr media
Most of the other women Ruby invited, unfortunately, were actually friends of David's. They arrived to the Riverview Cannery Festival Grounds with one thing on their minds:
Tumblr media
Drinks. Well, that is three fairies I count in this pic alone, so the drinks and the music (Ruby added the bars and a cheap stereo) ought to make this a roof-raiser.
Tumblr media
Damnit, what's Dallas Shallow doing here? I paid for exclusive access and I sure as hell didn't invite this goober. 馃槨 The way this game doesn't respect even a single one of your decisions is so irritating.
Diphda, honey, I know pregnancy gives one an appetite, but this is not why we're here today, all right? Come back inside.
Tumblr media
Aw, she made friends with Shirley Lin! Diphda's such an amiable Sim. I miss her so much. But this is Ruby's party, so I should probably be paying more attention to her.
The party dancers are here! Is that what all these ladies are suddenly hollering about?
...no.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least I didn't invite any elders.

Not gonna lie, getting through the weekend with three children was tough.
Evan went to visit Adrian--he spawns a good number of wishes to talk to or hang out with him, and I was curious how the Ivanovs were doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Afterwards, he spent some time fishing and picnicking, as the weather was good.
Tumblr media
Emmaline and Eloise each expressed the desire to learn the writing skill, so off to a class they went. I somehow neglected to take any pictures of them working on their novels--oh yes, start the little munchkins earning early, I always say--but here they are venting the barely suppressed rage that always seems to accompany the sugar & spice & everything nice.
Tumblr media
Speaking of barely suppressed rage, someone, maybe someone with the Diva trait like, say, Emmaline, also tried to preside over the royal court.
Tumblr media
But I put a stop to that right away. Sorry! but Taslin over in the other save made me good and sick of that action. It's cute occasionally, but you know EA: no chill and no understanding of the concept of "occasional."
While the girls were at the library writing and Evan was over at the Ivanovs, David and Ruby got reacquainted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why do I buy these things? I always forget to direct the children to use them, and they don't ever seem interested in playing in the treehouses of their own volition.
The adults, on the other hand, are unable to resist it.

Highlights (well... marginally notable moments) from David and Ruby's Snowflake Day Gift-Giving Party:
Trigger Broke, Buck Broke, and Odin Crosby developing an unhealthy fixation on Eloise, Ruby and David's middle child, booing and heckling her whenever she appeared in their field of vision. It was hate at first sight for these freaks and the why of it remains a mystery.
Evan and his, er, nephew, Adrian Ivanov, befriending each other immediately and being inseparable throughout the party
Emmaline being such a PITA with respect to routing/being in everyone's way that I sent her out to rake leaves in the backyard (and I'd do it again, too), then, uh, sort of forgot about her? until she stormed back in to use the facilities. Once she was through, I sent her back out to the yard to dispose of all the leaf piles. On a positive note, the backyard looks so much better now. We're all ready for Spring!
David having to Ask Everyone to Leave in order to end the party at 1:30 in the morning because Snowflake Day occurred on a Wednesday/a school night; more importantly, because none of those assclowns would LEAVE without that kind of, ah, encouragement.
Mags Newbie refusing to die even though she's 1000 years old, but insisting on smelling the place up with her poor hygiene until I snapped and resetSim'd her tf out of there
Pics below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gross, guys! Leave her alone!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Fortunately, Dimitri is in the backyard. Nonetheless, I had Ruby convince Diphda to go flirt with Dimitri, then had Ruby engage Odin in conversation. Crisis averted.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, Odin, ENOUGH. She's a child!
Mags Newbie, shown at left in her heinous ITF "formalwear," is complaining that someone is in her way because she wants to go upstairs to leave a plate of shitty onion rings on one of the desks there, the available kitchen counters by now being covered in everyone else's shitty party foods that I really wish they would just not bring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't get a picture of it, but poor Evan wound up having to sleep in the treehouse in the backyard, because the other obsession Odin Crosby developed was with the music box in Evan's room, and Odin dragged his best buddy Trigger Broke into that room with him, in order to better block the door to Evan's room. 馃槧馃槨馃槧
Incidentally, this has been my Supernatural playstyle progression over the years:
Initially: All occults enabled
After every original townie dipshit in Sunset Valley was, through the dark magic of werewolfery and vampiredom, still alive while I was starting the fourth generation of my legacy family: "Fuck werewolves, fuck vampires, let's only have witches and fairies from now on."
After being constantly annoyed by the music obsession of the fairies, that is, currently: "Witches only, bitches."
Anyway, I have got to remember to lock everyone's bedroom doors before inviting these monsters over again... if I ever invite them over again.

When Diphda went into labor at Ruby's bachelorette party, I saw that Ruby had the option to take Diphda to the hospital. It meant her party ended early and it was deemed only a modest success, but I think it was worth it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diphda named her son Adrian, and he was born Brave and Clumsy.
Ruby accompanied the new mom home, where they met up with Dimitri, the new dad.
Tumblr media
Dimitri, quit your bitching. I'll have Ruby fix you dinner. Right now you should be bonding with your kid.
Dimitri: ...or nah.
Tumblr media
Diphda's look of disappointment here says it all.
Tumblr media
Once David finished work, he came over to meet his grandson.
Tumblr media
By the time David and Ruby made it home, it was after midnight. Luckily, David earned a promotion to level 4 in the Art Appraiser track that pushed his start time back a couple of hours, so he doesn't have to be to work until 1:00 p.m. tomorrow. Ruby has the day off, so she can take it easy tomorrow, too.
And then it'll be time to host a wedding party!

The day after Ruby's big win was Leisure Day--perfect day for a wedding, given that everyone in town has the day off. First, though, a nice breakfast of French toast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All right, kids, let's get hitched!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what I forgot to do?--Take pictures of the guests. There were some, and way more than the eight originally invited, too. Oh well, they were probably doing dumb shit like dropping plates all over the lawn.
(There were so many plates on the lawn when this was over. I bought them two buffet tables, but all that did was produce more plates on the lawn. It didn't stop or even really reduce the complaining that some Sim was in another Sim's way at all.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
David and Ruby tried to do a karaoake duet in lieu of a first dance, but the crowd wasn't having it and booed them. The guests demanded cake, then crowded around the solitary kitchen counter that held the cake, then bitched that they couldn't get to the cake because some other Sim was cutting himself a slice. Sims have no concept of waiting one's turn. It's as though they never leave toddlerhood in that sense.
Somehow the party wound up being Epic again, no idea how, but that left David in a good mood for the family's big move. They said goodbye (and good riddance tbh) to 451 Riverview Road and hello to 207 Cotton Branch Drive, where I'd placed the new house that Ruby's lottery winnings bought them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were worth about 140,000; this house cost them just under 120,000 furnished, so they still have a very sizeable college fund for the kids of 20,000.
Speaking of kids, David and Ruby, it's your honeymoon hint hint hint.

Diphda is almost a young adult; she's due to age up Saturday. Meanwhile, she and her high school sweetheart, Dimitri Ivanov, are still going strong.
Tumblr media
My dilemma: I don't think I want to force this job-hopping lifestyle on Diphda by making her the heir. She's too bright and too nice a Sim to do that to. Wait, that reads like I think more poorly of David than I do. I like David fine, really, but he seems like he has the easygoing disposition needed to roll with the punches, whereas Diphda seems more the intellectual type.
I don't know. Waiting for any child David had with Ruby to age up would also likely not be fun, so I'm torn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I get that Diphda probably wants to point out her homeworld to her sweetheart, but why do Sims invariably choose the worst/least romantic location from which to watch the stars? "Wanna go sit by the trash can and stargaze with me?" How is anyone agreeing to this.

One of the things that kills me about these two is the way they are continually doing Enthuse About New House with each other. They've been living here at least four Sim weeks, if not five. It's a lot of things, this house--cramped, crappy, dated and dull--but it is emphatically not "new."
After a little TV time with Dad Monday morning, Diphda left for her first day of high school.
Tumblr media
And she has a formal dance happening Thursday! She even has a date lined up, because her pal Dimitri aged up to teen a day or two after Diphda did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aw, young love. 馃珷 (I can say that, now that I am no longer subject to its trials and tribulations.)

Dimitri met up with Diphda at graduation and came home with her afterwards. He had a question for her.
Tumblr media
--that he asked in the most awkward possible location in the house. I should have moved them. And I did move them out to the backyard garden, for the private wedding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But I didn't bother to change them out of their robes first. Look, if there is one art at which Diphda is very accomplished by now, it's the art of Making Do. Besides, these two goofs are crazy about each other. They would have married in a hog pen if that were all that was available.
Meanwhile, I'd sent David and Ruby off for a matinee followed by dinner. As they left the restaurant, Bennie Dean whipped out a drum set and got to work flailing away.
Tumblr media
Just another night with the elders in Romantic Riverview.
Diphda and Dimitri moved only a couple of blocks away from David to 20 Hidden Grove Lane, where I placed a revamp of Yuri's old post-divorce house. I de-Midnight-Hollowed the landscaping and redid the interior to better suit Diphda (and to convert the main floor library to a nursery 馃槈--David has a wish to have a grandchild, and I aim to please).
Tumblr media
I don't often recycle houses, but in this case it made sense to. I was halfway through building a new house for Diphda when I realized (1) the layout of this one was what I wanted and had more or less begun to build, and (2) this one was already decorated. 馃檶馃徏
Already, David's house doesn't seem the same without her.
Tumblr media
I suppose, really, it isn't.

Diphda and Dimitri Ivanov. (Please try to overlook the clipping in the second picture; I can either not have snow during the winter or not play on a macbook.)
Dimitri comes home with Diphda at least every other afternoon. It's fine--he is well-behaved, and he and Diphda have become Good Friends, which is nice for her. No clue what the teen years may bring from this, but I wouldn't be mad if they became a couple.

Nice going, David! He has met enough Riverview Sims to have completed the Celebrity Charisma challenge. That is technically Diphda's friend, Dimitri Ivanov, whom David is watching TV with above, but intellectually they are peers, I think.
Of course none of this improves the family finances directly, but I celebrate the victory all the same. What else can I do?
David has also repaired enough plumbing objects that his next repairs will make them all unbreakable. That achievement really is something to celebrate, because the Bargain John toilets break about every third time a Sim uses them.
