Silesaurus
Silesaurus opolensis was an dinosauriform archosaur that lived in Europe during the Late Triassic Period around 220 million years ago. An insect-eater with a body length of around seven and a half feet, Silesaurus has been traditionally considered a member of a sister lineage to dinosaurs proper, but some recent paleontological analyses suggest that it may be a true dinosaur at the base of the ornithischian lineage (the grouping of dinosaurs that includes the duck-billed hadrosaurs, the armored stegosaurs and ankylosaurs, and the horn-faced ceratopsians). Like the ornithischians, Silesaurus appears to have had a beak covering the tip of its lower jaw (or predentary).

Lewisuchus

Would it be better to refer to silesaurus as an archosaur or a dinosauriform when talking about it? I see it referred to as both and I don't want to get it wrong. Anyway, I think that silesaurus is my favorite Triassic non-dinosaur I can't believe I never knew about it until now.

Day 9: Almost Dinos
Today's competitors are very, very closely related to dinosaurs...so much in fact, that both were thought to be dinosaurs for a while.
Why isn't Silesaurus a dinosaur?
1.) Lacks an elongated deltopectoral crest (ridge on the humorus for muscle attachment).
2.) Lacks epipophyses on cervical verts (parts that branch off the vertebra)
Pisanosaurus, not a dino? This little guy is still under hot debate. It could be a transitional form between silesaurids and basal ornithischians OR is could be a basal ornithiscian. More data is needed.

Recently I managed to find my old watercolours that I got when I was at my (previous) school and I finally got around to testing them out. While this piece has several mistakes I'm not gonna be too harsh on myself since I haven't worked with watercolours since 2022.
