Sunstreaker & Sideswipe Fic Recs!!

Since my post begging the fandom to help me find a fic on ffn based off its plot got so many notes (because people were interested, but had no idea what I was talking about) here’s some fics whose names I do know! (with additional plot info from me)

Us Against the World by Toe of Sauron (Chapters: 28 - Words: 33,946)

Or, 28 Twins. IDW-AU. Sideswipe: gung-ho prankster. Sunstreaker: ego-centric sociopath. Inseparable. Unstoppable. Loyal to the end. Or, at least, that’s what everyone thought. Pre-Earth.

Decepticon Sunstreaker!!

Disjointed ficlets about Sideswipe and Sunstreaker before/during/after Sunstreaker joined the cons and then switched sides

Uses IDW characterization so there’s some tension between them

Includes grievously injured Sunstreaker and Sides going somewhat feral which is always A+

Through Another's Eyes by Toe of Sauron (Chapters: 1 - Words: 3,683)

IDW-AU. "You touch their sparks together and they blow up and they die!" Us Against the World tie-in.

Falls between chapters 20 & 21 of Us Against The World

Is technically unfinished, but only in that it was meant to be a bunch of one-shots and is just instead only 1 one-shot

Follows Ratchet, First Aid, & Ironhide as they do exactly what the summary says to Sunny & Sides

Ariadne's Thread by Toe of Sauron (Chapters: 24 - Words: 110,882)

IDW-AU. They told Sideswipe it was the only way; they had to abandon Sunstreaker to fight the Decepticons, to preserve the greater good. So what is he supposed to do now, when the greater good isn't good enough? Sequel to Us Against the World.

Set a little while after the last chapter of Us Against The World

Follows Sideswipe after he goes awol upon learning that Sunstreaker went missing (fell victim to the headmasters, but he doesn’t know that) and the autobots gave up on finding him

Sides teams up with IDW!Hunter (and eventually Bayverse!Simmons), but the humans are not annoying like they usually are

Involves grievously injured Sides & Sunny & epic fight scenes

Involves Sides just loving the hell out of Sunny and being willing to do anything for him

Transformers: Juxtaposition by Vaeru (Chapters: 40 - Words: 123,067)

Sparkbearer Saga: Part I. G1-based AU. A car wreck on a rainy night leads to the oddest partnership imaginable. A disembodied voice, possessed cars, alien robots, kidnapping, rescue, abduction, sparks, keys, and tomato sandwiches... Read if you dare.

Ordinarily, I hate OC-centric fics, but the main gal in this is actually pretty chill

Follows her sharing headspace with Sideswipe, but how did that happen??

Sideswipe can occasionally take over her body which is funny

Sunstreaker shows up and essentially says “you’re coming with me to the ark whether you like it or not, b/c you stole my brother and i want him back”

Something that stuck with me is that it’s probably the best fic I’ve read at portraying that sheer scale of both transformers and their lifespans/slow living pace

I don’t remember a lot of plot points, b/c I haven’t read it in a hot second, but I do remember it’s good

All About Us by Juzu (Chapters: 15 - Words: 44,818)

A collection of drabbles and oneshots featuring Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and the mechs and femmes they come in contact with. Topics from fanfic100 table. Mainly G1, but will probably have some movieverse thrown in.

All of it’s good, but in particular I love chapters 6 thru 8

Bayverse & follows Sideswipe slowly dying/fading away b/c Sunstreaker is “dead”

Low and behold, an injured Sunstreaker breaks atmo in the middle of a storm & Sides goes awol to find him

Everyone freaks out b/c they think Sideswipe is nuts and went off to die

Reunion!

Fluff & cuteness between them and also platonic Ratchet

The Lost by The Starhorse (Chapters: 6 - Words: 80,408)

A series of lifechanging events involving Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, told from different points of view. Written in 2002, long before it would become painfully obvious that I could have chosen a better title...

This fic is sooooo //makes incomprehensible noises & flailing hand gestures

I think I may have read (at least one chapter of) this story more than any other Sunny & Sides fic

The first chapter is?? in first person from Bluestreaker perspective??? for some reason??? The rest of the story is... not like it at all??? Please read past it.

Follows a snippet of time following Sideswipe taking a huge hit for Sunstreaker and nearly getting himself killed

A perfect storm of events immediately afterwards leaves Sunstreaker in a bad way mentally...

which results in him doing a bad thing...

and other autobots doing a bad thing to retaliate...

which doesn’t actually lead Sunstreaker to retaliate, but Sideswipe...

who gets completely fucking diabolical

I love all of it. Read it.

Discontinued, but still 100000% worth reading:

Double Trouble in Red and Yellow by Katea-Nui (Chapters: 6 - Words: 44,926)

One of Wheeljack's secret weapons goes awry, and the Seekers find themselves in a situation they never quite expected... Parenthood. Rating may change, but probably not.

Newly sparklingified twins end up kidnapped mid-battle by the command trine

Sorta hilarious, b/c the command trine is very much aware of who Sunny & Sides are but nabbed them anyways & still intend to keep them

Interesting take is that Sunny/Sides are not mind-wiped infants like usual, they’re like 4-6yrs -ish equivalent and have memories of their lives up to that point

Sorta revolves around the trine beginning to love the sparkling twins

ends much too soon

Little Brother by Meiza (Chapters: 9 - Words: 64,542)

Prowl is infamous for being a logical, nigh emotionless thinker who's better at battle calculations than interpersonal relationships. How he was roped into taking care of the last survivor of Praxus is anyone's guess.

Obv revolves around Prowl w/ baby Blue which is always adorable and done very well, but that’s not what we’re here for

Sparkling!twins show up chapter 5 and are hilarious

Ends on a cliffhanger //shakes fist

Re:Start by plenoptic (Chapters: 13 - Words: 67,631)

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker never had a family. They thought they would never escape Kaon's gladiatorial pits, that cannon fodder was all they would ever be. And they were wrong. Twins!centric, OptimusxElita. Giftfic!

Optimus & Elita One rescue and adopt gladiator 7-8yro equivalent twins

Follows the twins losing the rough edges and letting themselves be kids

Tragic stuff has to happen though, of course

Also ends on a cliffhanger //shakes fist harder

Surface of the Sun by Hearts of Eternity (Chapters: 34 - Words: 229,063)

A look into the lives of the infamous Twins, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, as they go through the evolution that will take them from younglinghood to the gladiatorial circuit, up to the moment that marked them as Autobots for the rest of their lives.

Part of the Hearts of Eternity’s War Eternal series which is fantastic and which they list the contents/reading order of in their bio

It’s tragic when any fic is discontinued, but this one especially kills me b/c it’s a prequel and so you know where they eventually end up, but the story discontinues before the major plot points so you don’t know how they get where they end up (unless you ask the author and get the inside scoop like me)

Super interesting take on the rarity/novelty of the split-spark phenomenon

Super unique take on the backstory of Sunny/Sides... (ie they grow up in a circus??)

Super interesting subplot of the original 13 primes (all OCs, but well done OCs) meddling in mortal affairs for their own (good or bad) reasons and they have a particular interest in Sunny & Sides

Real dark at times

As We Come Together by Hearts of Eternity (Chapters: 54 - Words: 485,586)

While the surviving Autobots begin to flock to Earth in response to Optimus' call, trying to find a new home on the strange organic planet called Earth, some unfortunate bots are beginning to realize the price of war may have been too high. Sequel to Time

I said Surface of the Sun discontinuing was tragic, but this one is... worse.... the cliffhanger where it ends destroys me... but I asked the author how it ends and am willing to share the info if you want to know

Not Sunny/Sides-centric, but I love them when they show up and I love the rest of the story b/c this is one of those fanfics which could really be its own novel b/c of all the dope original ideas. Can’t say enough about the author’s creativity and effort.

(fyi Time refers to Time We Have Left which is a bunch of character-centric ficlets that you don’t really need to read to understand this one)

Anywho the Sunny/Sides part of the story first follows them flying with Prowl, Chromia, and G1-Arcee to earth. There’s some drama & tragedy, of course.

We get little snippets into Sunstreaker’s backstory that Surface of the Sun didn’t get to cover

They land, more drama and tragedy

Does involve mentions of pre-Sunny/OC which isn’t ideal, but //shrugs

Soooo much Sunstreaker & Sunny/Sides angst, but also character growth

The... the cliffhanger...

"put this guy in earthspark" "put that guy in earthspark" I think you are all correct but I've been thinking about it so here's who I would love to see in earthspark and why:

-sunstreaker and sideswipe (this show is all about family when was the last time the twins were on screen together huh. they are speedster twins twitch and thrash would love them)

-ironhide (would be plotting megatron's demise the second he saw him. like optimus' scary dog who barks every time megatron gets too close "he don't bite" "YES HE DO")

-jazz and prowl (I think they should show up together. I think prowl needs someone to handle people for him because if he showed up by himself it would not end well. also I love jazz and find their dynamic fun, plus jazz would love the terrans)

-ratchet and deadlock (specifically deadlock. it would be so funny. imagine ratchet comes into camp and they're like "holy shit thank god finally an actual medic who can help us" but look he's got the cybtertronian equivalent of a feral attack dog following him that adores him and hates everyone else and he's not doing anything about it)

-thundercracker and buster (GIVE HIM HIS DOG!! bonus points if skywarp and starscream are like "oh we don't know about thundercracker. we lost him years ago. we hope one day to find him and welcome him with open arms" and this whole time he's had a dog and been writing screenplays like "oh they know I'm fine" [they don't])

-first aid (I love ratchet but bro's been dominating the medical field. put first aid in. or literally any other medic actually. put fucking pharma in and let him go wild. that would be fun. but back to first aid I love his character and I think his "I'm a medic, but..." attitude would fit perfectly, and he'd love the terrans)

-pharma

-whirl (do it you fucking cowards. and don't do it like cyberverse. make him unhinged. he would be such a bad influence it would be great)

(129) Sunstreaker and Sideswipe find themselves unceremoniously dumped in the setting of Transformers: Prime. The Decepticons are way creepier, Oprimus Prime is way sadder, and—oh, yeah—this whacky little handful of personality disorders chasing their own tailpipes on Earth represents the pitiful remains of their entire species.

Obviously, something pretty dumb is wrong with this universe. It must, they conclude, simply be their job to fix it. Only... they can't quite seem to agree on how they go about fixing a whole universe. Even for two vehicles as awesome as them, the universe is a big place. After much deliberation (bickering), they decide to make contact with the Autobots so they can bring their trans-reality problem to Ratchet, who has the dubious honour of being the smartest person they can agree on in both universes.

Ratchet is as pleased about the sudden introduction of these two flashy sportscars into his personal space as you might imagine.

i’m pretty sure it was on ffn and is set in bayverse

short description:

sunstreaker is looking for something to paint in a sketchy town

he’s incapacitated and stolen by a luxury car ring

sideswipe collapses on base b/c of sunstreaker’s electrocution

sunstreaker is being poisoned by car exhaust wherever he is

they discover this b/c sideswipe’s dying b/c his body thinks he’s being poisoned too

ratchet has to give sideswipe the same toxin so he will produce the antibodies/fight it off and kickstart sunstreaker to do it too

it works but ratchet feels guilty about it b/c sideswipe was in agony

they end up finding sunstreaker in a container (on a truck? boat? idk)

the end i think?

long description:

sunstreaker is looking for a spot to paint and is parked in a sketchy town. he ends up getting stolen by a luxury car thieving ring, b/c they stick a box to his undercarriage that is called a “car-killer” which shorts out his electrical systems.

sideswipe is back at base (playing basketball i think) and suddenly stops in makes to run off in a certain direction, but collapses

everyone is trying to find sunstreaker while ratchet is taking care of sideswipe

they keep asking sideswipe to report sunstreaker’s location and even unconscious he can ping them sunstreaker’s location, but it’s in the middle of the ocean

sideswipe’s system thinks it’s dying from car exhaust poisoning, but it’s actually sunstreaker that’s dying from it and sideswipe’s system is just reacting the same way

ratchet ends up injecting sideswipe with the toxin so that sideswipe’s system will produce antibodies to fight the poison and in turn kickstart sunstreaker (wherever he is) to actually fight the poison

ratchet is super conflicted and guilty about it b/c it puts sideswipe in agony, but it works

they eventually find sunstreaker in a container (not sure if he’s on a ship or on a truck or what)

again, not sure how i remember so much about this fic, but cannot find it on ffn or thru google for the life of me

please help

Transformers Bayverse Autobots x Human reader (Crush and Confession Headcanons Part 2)

"How would they react to themselves crushing on a human? And how would they confess?"

Characters: Bayverse Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Hound, Hot rod, Crosshairs.

A/N: I made a part 2 since I promised it💞, I'm so sorry that this took so long for me to do, my motivation was aft and I had a lot of schoolwork to do😭🤧.

And an anonymous person said that they would love to see more Bee x Reader content. I don't find their ideal bad, so I went along with it, and to the Anon who says that they want more Bee Content. Hope this won't disappoint I didn't know what continuity you wanted, so I went with Bayverse when Bumblebee didn't get back his voice yet, hope you'll understand, and as I said in my other Bay Autobots x Human Reader post, they might seem OOC because I haven't watched the movies for a long time. GIFs do not belong to me credits go to the original creators. (Some of them were found on Google)

This is the first part of this post if you are interested read:

Warnings: I suppose Potential Movie Spoilers from 1-5, Cursing, Mention of Violence/Fighting but nothing too detailed or Gorey, Death, and, Getting in Trouble, Some parts for others may look short-, Teasing/Flirting, Jealousy, Kissing, Miscommunication or Awkward Situations (On Hot Rod's Part), Injuries, Crack, Fluff, and, Angst.

Bumblebee;

•When the young scout finds himself gaining a crush on you, he's in denial, but at the same time, he feels willing to ask you out.

•But he'll mostly lean on the part where he refuses to acknowledge his feelings for you.

•The reason why is that, being betrayed and hunted down by humans, and having other disturbing events he doesn't want to remember, gave him slight trust issues.

•You might take might advantage of his status, You won't feel the same way, You might not want to hang out with him anymore, You might hurt him or worse, betray him and leave him to have experimented on by humans who hunt them down...

•But at the same time, Bumblebee feels willing to tell you, his crush on you. He wants to ask Optimus for advice but he knows that he's strict and will forbid it.

•And Primus, Bee doesn't want to receive Prime's disappointed look at him, it would feel horrible. He respected Optimus for years and he has done the same thing.

•However, keeping his feelings to himself won't help. You need to know how he feels, besides if Bee hides his crush well, it won't be a good thing to experience if he ever decides to pretend that he doesn't like you.

•Since he doesn't have his voice with him, Bumblebee would use sweet lovesongs to tell you how he feels. Are you surprised by this? Well, not really, you've seen how a bit obvious his intentions are of courting you.

•Eitherways you're happy with him, and you accept his confession. Making the young bot very happy. If he was in his Mass Displacement or Holoform, he'd carry you and do a little spin out of joy.

•While still being careful to not hurt you. Spending time together is just having fun. For example, if a favorite song of both of yours plays, you both dance cheerfully. And if he's using Holoform or Mass Displacement he'd hold you, he'd say how much he loves you and swears to protect you with all his life. <3

Sideswipe;

•To be honest, he's a flirt or a tease, he's a bit of a player just for fun, but with no intentions to hurt someone However, when he gains feelings for someone and their genuine? Sideswipe gets flustered.

•He just gives me those vibes where the cocky character says they'd make their love interest fall for them first, but instead they're the ones who fall for their love interest first-

•Sideswipe still haves his cocky attitude with him, but really when he's with you, it slightly becomes clear how he likes you-

•This mech had so many attempts to ask you out, but it just ends up with him being too shy and flustered to tell you. One time, he got very angry with himself that he tried to demolish the wall-🤦‍♀️

•And you know that it didn't end well for him...Sideswipe dented his pede pretty badly which caused him to have an injury where he couldn't walk properly. He also came up with some scrappy excuse to Ratchet for his actions, but the medic just sighed, already knowing what was going on.

•But, let's just say after some time he finally has the courage to ask you out. While he admits his feelings for you, the bot had a bit of Energon-blush on his faceplates, and he slightly stutters his words.

•Are you shocked? Just like Bumblebee, you're not very surprised. After seeing his attempts to try to tell you his feelings, it looked quite clear of Sideswipe's intentions.

•When you accept his confession, he's more than surprised, he wasn't expecting you to look back, but is very glad that you didn't reject him! Sideswipe would feel embarrassed if you did decline his offer.

•On how you spend time together, is sometimes getting into silly shenanigans. You guys would get into trouble together, something like badly cropped photos of Lennox around the base, and it's almost everywhere-

•Of course, you both are going to be scolded for pranking around the area, you two are in trouble together. But hey, it's better to be with someone you love when you do silly things. <3 (Hopefully Lennox doesn't get too upset from seeing unflattering pictures of him :/)

Hound:

•Um, now this is unexpected to find out...Hound won't be all shy and flustered or be in so much denial of his emotions for you. He'd just be a bit taken back of himself when he finds out about his crush on you.

•He'd still be the same mech around you though, you don't see him being nervous or flustered when he talks to you. But, he does feel a warm feeling in his spark when you laugh at his jokes.

•Hound is not one for adoring or complimenting one's looks, but seeing you smile or being happy makes him feel secure that you're safe from harm and danger. Also, he's always the first one to save you from getting hurt when he fights his enemies.

•One day, Izabella noticed how protective he is over you. So when she gets the chance to talk to him, she asks Hound.

•"Hey Hound!" She calls out to him, the Green mech then looks at the young girl and says "Oh hey kid, anything ya need?" Hound talks "No not really, but I do have a question!" Izabella answers "Then, go ahead I guess." "Alright, so do you have a crush on (Name)?"

•When Izabella asks him that question, his optics slightly widen. He'd look away for a while then he'd grumble in reply, "Well, maybe." Izabella just then happily encourages him to tell his feelings for you, after hearing Hound's statement.

•As time passes, Hound tells you his confession. He admits he's not the best sparkmate out there for you but is willing to be with you. Are you taken back by this? Hell yeah, you are-

•He was able to keep his composure with you, and now he tells you that he wants to ask you out. You're more than stunned- And when you accept his offer, he'd just let out a small chuckle of relief and would just gently carry you on his servo to hold you, with your permission.

•I'd say how you two spend time together is maybe training to defend yourself or teaching you how to use some weapons or how to create them. On the other hand, you'd just talk to each other.

•While he'd just pulling a few jokes randomly- But you're still happy to chat together, being in company together already makes you both grateful. <3

Hot Rod;

•Oh, now he is a flustered mess. As much as he tries to be a suave smooth-talking gentlemech, he miserably fails in doing so.

•When he realizes that he gained romantic feelings for you, his playful personality somehow falters. In summary, he becomes such a dork.

•I know that he makes up good pick-up lines to try and woo you, but they end up seeming awkward and strange, and his words would be fumbled in the end.

•Poor Hot Rod is not getting help from anyone. Cogman has a good day, he will just watch things and how they'll play out, he sees this as prime entertainment for himself. Sir Burton is no better, he also sees this as amusement at what's happening to Hot Rod, he'd even hold back and hide his giggles when he sees him try to impress you, but ends up failing.

•Hot Rod starts to act a little out of character, he seems almost shy to even talk to you. And when you ask a simple "Are you ok?" Or "Is everything alright?"

•Ha, he's a bit flustered about how you're concerned for him, he'll even answer nervously, which is only going to make things more complicated for the both of you.

•Once he gets the opportunity to tell you his feelings, he'll try to be all relaxed and be a gentlemech. But when he confesses, his words end up being stuttered.

•You weren't very stunned to find that out, seeing him act all, nervous and how he tries to get with you, made things clear.

•He feels relieved after you accept his confession, he was all pent-up and stressed with his feelings, so it was hard for him to tell you, but thank Primus it's already done.

•You and Hot Rod would spend time together on fancy dates. When he uses his holoform or Mass Displacement, he'll act like a gentleman. He'd be the type to be the one who'd open the door and treat you like a princess, just for you. Or just have a peaceful picnic date, he'd even get you your favorite flowers as a gift. <3

Crosshairs;

•Oh my goodness, we have another tsundere- He's in great denial. He'd hide his feelings with his normal cocky act especially when he's with you.

•He pretends to not care about you. But Primus he really does. Crosshairs would even be jealous if you're being a bit too close with another mech beside him. Yep, he's this jealous.

•Since he pretends to not care, he'd just scoff and would be "Whatever." but deep inside he feels jealousy. Especially if you're with Bumblebee or Drift.

•Crosshairs would be the type to show off his skills towards you to get your attention on him while being a flirt.

•He's not a fan of humans, and won't be the best guardian for a human if he was assigned to protect one. However, when it comes to you, he's so protective. It even looks like he has special treatment only for you- Which kinda causes Cade to be annoyed since we saw how he acts on TF4-.

•But again, since he's not accepting the fact that he loves you. The other Autobots would have to be the ones to confess their feelings for you. Another way how he'll confess his crush on you himself is when you face a situation where you almost die.

•And at that moment he'd tell you right there how he likes no, loves you. He then promises to be stronger to protect you. Despite his teasing nature, he can be sweet.

•You're very astounded by his confession and how at times he can be, thoughtful. But you feel contented with his confession and you accept. It caused Crosshairs to be shocked but he'd hide it by with flirting you and being a teasing mech. But really, he feels good that you like him as well.

•When you both have free time together, Crosshairs would drive you around while he lets you play your favorite music. Or you two would annoy Drift- It's a thing you've both done since you were friends.

•He doesn't admit but, he loves it when you guys cuddle. Though, he'd be so clingy and would give you lots of kisses. And no he does not give a single scrap if he has to do something, this mech not leaving you. What an afthole, but he's yours. <3
