International Mother Earth Day 22 April 2024
Shristi English Medium School, Anand, and
A special assembly was held at Shristi English Medium School on 22nd April 2024 to celebrate International Mother Earth Day.
Our school President Ms. Madhumita Jana delivered a passionate speech on World Earth Day, focusing on the theme "Planet vs Plastic." She emphasized the urgent need to address plastic pollution and urged students to take action by reducing plastic consumption, promoting recycling, and advocating for sustainable alternatives in our day to day life. She reminded everyone that our planet is not just a resource to be exploited, but a precious home that we must cherish and protect for future generations. Overall, her speech inspired the school community to make positive changes for the environment. The session was quite interactive wherein students gave their thoughts.
Additionally, the two more speakers from our teaching faculty Mr. Raju Macwan and Mr Rikesh Shelat talked about sustainable practices and solutions to reduce plastic usage.
It was great opportunity to empower our students to take action and make positive impact on the environment. Hence; on this occasion of the World Earth Day, Shristi hosted an activity in which our students collected plastic waste for several days which is given to the Company named ' Rhino Machines Private Ltd.' which is located in our nearby area.
The company is involved in recycling of plastic compounds and the plastic waste is utilized in making various objects specially tiles and pots. It's giving an immense pleasure to reduce some amount of plastics by giving it to recycle.
Together, let us pledge to choose the planet over plastic, and work towards a cleaner, greener future for all.

EmpowHER Junior at Aksharaa 2024

Hi, I am Sazda, one of the changemakers of EmpowHER Junior at Aksharaa School. After all our sessions, we had been preparing for the fundraising event. We had been waiting for this day for a very long time. We worked really hard for this day ever since day one. Although I couldn't attend all, or most of EmpowHER classes due to health reasons, I too had prepared and was very excited for this day. In my team I had Mahika didi, Shristy didi, Arpana and me.
We had planned to do a cookie stall and a thrift stall but sadly Mahika didi couldn't make it that day so we had to settle for just 1 stall, that was the thrift stall. Shristy didi stayed at the stall for most of the time, and whenever she needed a break I looked after our stall, I couldn't stay for most of the time because I had an Udhyam stall too. Apart from us, many other teams had worked hard, in order to achieve their goals. There were food stalls, drink stalls, which everyone seemed to like, my mom even bought things from many of our EmpowHER stalls in order to encourage us.
Based on the experience from that day, I'd like to say that, we, as in our team, lacked a lot during that day, there could have definitely been places where we could have improved on to make our stall slightly better too. However, the day went by smoothly, people were willing to take a look at our stalls, and even bought things from us. Overall I'd like to say that the fundraiser had been an absolute success, looking at how much people bought from us and other teams as well.
There were many things my team as well as other teams learned from this experience.
I am definitely excited for the remaining sessions of EmpowHER junior.
