The past week there’s been a back handed compliment post at the top of the ship tag and I’m sick of seeing it so here’s a random sherlolly hc for ya- Sherlock and Molly have developed their own extremely complex method of silent communication, consisting of nothing but eye and facial movements. They developed it over the course of some months just while lounging in bed late at night. It’s specifically for use in more serious situations where they might not be able to say certain things aloud, but still need to get information to each other.

So far though, its only use is Sherlock making jokes about John or Greg or Mycroft, and making Molly laugh aloud for what seems to be no logical reason to anyone else. 🤭

So, I’ve got this tiny HC regarding Molly & Sherlock during the lab scene in TSO3. But, first, I gotta preface it with an episode of The X-Files called “Bad Blood,” written by Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad).  If you’re not familiar with TXF’s, Bad Blood is known as a MotW (monster of the week) and dark comedy. The premise is Mulder and Scully investigate a series of exsanguinations in Texas, which Mulder believes is caused by Vampires...a belief Scully does not share. Their initial investigation ends with an unfortunate murder via a stake-through-the-heart delivered by Mulder, which causes a rather HUGE law suit against the FBI. Both Mulder and Scully have to recount their version of events leading up to the heart staking, which are wildly different. Hilarity ensues.

So, back to Molly and Sherlock. The lab scene is Sherlock’s memory of his conversation with Molly, including her saying “and we’re having quite a bit of sex.” But, what if she never said that? What if that’s Sherlock’s interpretation / deduction on something else she said, such as “And, we’re having quite a bit of fun.”

What an ‘interesting’ conversation that might be...especially from Molly’s POV.

I babbled about this a lot in the Sherlolly discord, but I can’t stop thinking about the first Christmas Sherlock and Molly share as a couple post all the s4 shenanigans. Her mother really wants her to come up to Scotland for the holidays (it’s where her mother’s side is from), but not just any part of Scotland. Oh no. It’s the Scottish countryside, on a farm.

Here we can let all of those holiday tropes free to run as wild as they wish. We have: Meeting the family for the first time. Incidentally, Molly actually has a big, burly older brother (Sherlock’s just the teensiest bit intimidated by his beard.) Hes protective, but in a charming ‘Let’s see what this city slicker can do’ kind of way. He’s also married with a kid, and maybe one on the way too, because I just love imagining Molly as an aunt, plus Sherlock with children is always a fun situation.

If you’re on a farm, then there’s bound to be animals. Sherlock and Molly could go horseback riding, and maybe they even teach him how to milk a cow? Said cow takes a liking to him, impressing Molly’s big brother even further.

There’s other tropes too though. The pond is frozen over, and Molly teaches, or rather, tries to teach Sherlock how to ice skate. He’s pretty hopeless though, (Think Bambi when he’s on the ice) and won’t shut up about frostbite and hypothermia should the ice break with the both of them still on top of it. There’s sledding too! Sledding on of those saucer things so Molly would basically be on his lap if they shared, plus it would make it easier for them both to topple over in the snow, Molly conveniently landing on top of Sherlock of course.

They could cut down their own Christmas tree, bake their own treats. Maybe since Molly’s got roots in Scotland, she gets a little bit of a brogue when she’s back home and it’s adorable?! Sherlock could wear a sweater! The possibilities are endless and I love it!

First to answer the question Sherlock I think. That man has been through some shit. Like a lot of shit. So he definitely has to relive things on a subconscious level. But it's mostly okay because he's not alone, he hasn't been alone for along time. But for my "they're in a committed relationship" headcanon Molly definitely helps him through all of 'em and when he wants to talk about it they really go into detail to try to figure out which bit is still bothering him the most.

My angst brain really wants me to write him rehashing the coffin with her later in years because it still plagues his mind even though they're like practically married (they'll get married, duh but maybe this is before that).

Oh my god look what you've unleashed. This is what happen when I don't really post then I just hurl into the void and its fineee.

Forever salty about the fact that we never got this very subtle scene for sherlolly that I can imagine so clearly which I have definitely talked about before at some point but I was thinking about it again tonight

I can imagine some sort of intense scene with all the main characters where Sherlock is all worked up, either angry or frustrated etc. and he’s physically agitated too, maybe pacing around. And there’s just this quick little moment where Sherlock seems like he’s at an absolute boiling point, but then the camera focuses in on Molly’s little hand reaching out and grasping his, just for a moment, and giving it a squeeze. Everything in the room goes still. Sherlock freezes and just breathes, maybe even shuts his eyes. Maybe a couple of the other characters exchange a little look. When Molly lets his hand go he straightens his shoulders and stands taller, looking like he’s been internally reset and centered, ready to focus at the problem at hand without being overwhelmed. It’s not directly acknowledged or addressed, but it would be this very pointed moment that clearly shows the positive power she holds over his mind and heart. ❤️‍🩹

Sherlolly first pregnancy headcanons, please. :)

I have so many! Here’s my “unexpected first pregnancy hc:

Molly panics; she’s absolutely postive this will be the end of their relationship. They’ve never talked about having children and even though Sherlock’s wonderful with Rosie, that’s a child he doesn’t have to care for 24/7.

She’s also convinced he’s already deduced it and is just waiting for the right time to kick her to the proverbial curb. Meanwhile Sherlock has no clue because he’s made a conscious decision not to deduce things about Molly, partially out of love and partially because - well, he always manages to muck it up when he does.

He knows something’s wrong but not what it could be; she gets more and more tense until finally she can’t stand it anymore and asks him what he’s waiting for - does he want her to do the breaking up for him?

That sends him into a deep panic as he tries to figure out what he’s done wrong, she blurts out “because of the baby” and he buffers long enough for her to think he’s shutting down and she’s about to leave when he comes back to the world and stops her.

They both apologize for not just talking to each other - him for not asking her what was wrong, her for not just telling him in the first place - and once they both calm down they each reveal how excited they are about this new development - excited and nervous.
