There was a little boy.

Shen Jiu’s heart squeezed as he stared at the tiny child. There was a pang of familiarity as the boy raised his head and their eyes met. Green met green and Shen Jiu inhaled sharply. The boy looked the same as Shen Jiu did when he was younger. Scrawny and sharp. Mouth already turning down into a scowl as he stared defiantly back at the cultivator before him.

Shen Jiu had no inherent love for children. He tolerated the other disciples on Qing Jing Peak for his Shizun’s sake but found himself away from them whenever possible. The familial feeling inside his heart was new and reminded him of the love he once had for Qi-ge. Five seconds after meeting this brat and he already wanted to pinch his cheeks and ensure that he was healthy and happy.

Like cats that sleep curled up together and then wake up and immediately start beating the shit out of each other. :] yqy has got it ROUGH, but, in the long run having someone else sj trusts and cares about ends up being better for sj AND yqy

.....well, i say "trust", but only in the sense that sj knows sy wont abandon or betray him. He doesnt trust sy for things like. Judging the trustworthiness of weird guys who approach them on the street. Gaging if food can still be consumed without getting sicker than its worth. Leaving him on his own without getting lost/kidnapped/killed. A solid 50% of the time sj's rage is stress or worry based.

(Sy's anger is almost exclusively from embarrassment or petty sibling squabbling)

But neither will tolerate the other being slandered at all. Who the fuck do you think YOU are??? You dont get to call my brother a bitch, you dont even have to DEAL with him half the time. Sj is more likely to enact violence in his brothers name, and sy is more likely to cut the offender off and give them the cold shoulder, but he DOES bite sometimes
