The gremlins aged up and so I’ve officially survived long lifespan twinfancy with the Growing Together EP🥹I aged them up a little earlier than the actual time they’re meant to age, but they had completed almost all of their milestones - and therefore I’d explored everything possible with the lifestage. Definitely would not do it with twins again.
Violeta went from being wiggly to wild, with the top notch infant bonus trait, and level 2 in communication, movement and thinking. She’s now also picked up the aggressive, light sleeper, and little singer quirks.
Mirela went from being cautious to inquisitive (yay! She took a lot longer to meet milestones than her sister because of the cautious trait, so I’m happy about this). She also has the top notch infant bonus trait with level 2 in thinking and communication, but level 1 in movement. Mirela picked up the loves sound quirk so far.
Also, Valerius hit level 10 in cooking after he baked the twins’ birthday cake.

THE RUNDOWN
amelia nicolette never intended to be a mother. she was freshly 21, inches from a moment that could launch her career in the fashion industry, and she hadn’t been in love or even interested in the idea since she was seventeen. so when a one night stand with a wealthy older man, left her with morning sickness and an odd appetite for two, she was less than thrilled.
he was even less thrilled, insisting that she terminate the pregnancy. i’ll drive you, he’d said in a hushed tone. only then did she see the tan line wrapped around his ring finger. a married man. a one night stand. and a complete bastard . amelia decided, then and there, to carry to term and then put the baby up for adoption.
until may 1st at 3AM on the dot when the most obnoxious scream split through the air. a baby, just slightly too small, kicking and screaming relentlessly was born in manhattan. a baby who wouldn’t shut up until she was placed in the arms of her mother, where she fell quiet and calm and she slept.
amelia nicolette never intended to fall in love, but holding her tiny baby girl, she knew then and there that she was a goner. caroline, as a song that sounded like joy played from a radio at the nurse’s station. estelle, for the stars. nicolette, the only family name she’d ever need.
for three years, it was just the two of them in a new york penthouse, and amelia learned quickly that she was good at being a mother. but that didn’t change her free-spirited nature or the way her heart had a tendency to yearn for more. she had the resources, and caroline was old enough — . . . and she’d been sketching for years, sitting on top of a portfolio that piled a mile high.
along comes nanny, maggie, and thus began the life she’d lead for the rest of her childhood. mom spent a lot of time at work, building a fashion brand that went international by the time caroline was 6. because of this, she was gone more often than not, leaving caroline to grow up under the watchful eye of a nanny.
but she called every night. made it home for every big holiday, every recital, every birthday. in the summers, caroline would spend her time split between visiting her mother, visiting odette, and visiting a beach house in victoria. there was a certain lack of permanence that caused her to be adaptable, allowed her to be comfortable with change and give into the whims of a free spirit like her mother’s.
but people filtered in and out, came and went, and on the flip side of the same coin, there was a sense of detachment , a fear of getting too close to people who would move out or move on.
despite this, caroline never found herself to be lonely. she was a friendly little thing with bright eyes and a sparkling curiosity, picking up hobbies instead of toys, but never quite being exceptional at any of them. she made friends with doormen and caused problems for the people behind the desk. she became good, early on, at keeping herself busy, making her own fun – . . . all things that have very much carried into adulthood.
she was lucky, and she’s fully aware of it which is why, from a young age, she always did her best to find ways to give that luck to people who seemed to need it.
things had a tendency to be tumultuous, what with her mother coming and going and her very best friend being in and out of the hospital, but she tried to go with the flow as best as she could. things were good but never truly exceptional.
until she met jude. he’d been in the same children’s wing as odette, and they’d known each other for a little bit before caroline met him. the three of them were inseparable, at first, simply best friends. but as they got older, feelings shifted and two friends became more than that.
our girl was in love for the very first time. and it was sweet and gentle and everything a first love is supposed to be. over time, that love grew, just as they did, and it was visible to anyone with eyes that they were in love. for two years, it was good, he was good.
and then he wasn’t. despite two years of remission and a healthy life, he fell ill again. there was nothing to do but stand by and watch as six months passed by, far too quickly, and he slipped away into nothing. ultimately passing away just a week before his 20th birthday.
caroline didn’t allow herself to feel it, for a while, lingering in the denial stage of grief for far too long. new york felt empty without him, without odette, without her mother, and it didn’t take much for her to pack her things and join her mother overseas, taking a gap year from school and focusing on herself, on her photography.
she spent a lot of time with a press pass around her neck. fashion shows and fashion shoots. major events and sports games. concerts and festivals. but there was one thing she loved more than anything else, and that was capturing the off-guard joy of life in candids of strangers on the street or in the crowds of bars and concerts. she found her own style, her own way of storytelling through a lens, and slowly but surely she began to heal.
still, there was no way around the way her heart felt a little heavier, a little darker, and how smiles from strangers at the other end of the bar made her stomach churn. she developed an aversion to new relationships of any sort, anything deeper than surface level becoming a bit too close for comfort.
and while life traveling was fun, she missed having a sense of home, so she went to where the only other person who felt like home was, finding herself moving into a house with odette in victoria.
she’s been around for a couple of months, coming out of a gap year and looking to finish her degree in the spring. victoria, for now, is home.
these days she’s a little bit more cynical. a little bit less likely to let people too close. a little bit lost but also who isn’t when they’re 21

She’s the most distant with her father and her brother Luis, but she does still care for everyone in her family.
How does their family feel about them? Ricardo idolizes Elena, she’s a great older sister to him and she tries to set a good example. Maria cares about her a lot and is thankful for what she does to help out the family. Josefina enjoys talking to her over the phone and seeing her on the rare vacation but they don’t have too much in common now. The rest of family cares about her, Luis has seen her “Queen Bee” side and that’s part of why they aren’t as close as the rest of them.

Where do they live? A trailer in Sunnyside

09. BIO
Elena was born in Casa Grande, Arizona as the second child to Arturo and Maria Suárez. Her older brother, Luis, is 2 years older than her and her younger sister Josefina is 4 years younger than her, for most of her life, they got along really well. Actually, her whole family got along really well. But when she was 10, it was revealed that there were actually more problems with her parents than she thought. Her father had cheated on their mother and as revenge, Maria slept with another man and got pregnant, having her younger brother Ricardo. Elena’s parents divorced, Maria took back her maiden name, and as time passed and money became harder to find, her mother moved to a town called Riverdale and took 16 year old Elena and 6 year old Ricardo with her.
Moving was tough on her, she was used to be the popular and smart cheerleader at her old schools and while she got along less with her father and brother after the cheating scandal, she missed her sister a lot. Plus, they were on the Southside and could only afford a trailer. Not that she minded sharing with Ricardo too much. Still, when in town she would see the Northsiders and the Elites and wish she was one of them instead, so she began finding ways to dress like one. Sewing was always a skill she had, and finding clothes from thrift shops wasn’t too hard, soon enough she felt like she was back home. Not exactly as popular or a cheerleader but close enough for her.
Luis didn’t like that side of her, the “Queen Bee” side he saw at school or with her friends, and they ended up being a lot more distant than she’d like. And he seemed to take their father’s side in any argument about the cheating that would come up, while Elena usually sided with her mother. So they talk sometimes, exchange a few words whenever they have to, but that’s it. Josefina was 6 when their parents divorced, a little too young to fully understand everything that happened, but she loves talking with her on the phone about whatever tv show the young girl was watching. With her father, Elena partly blames him for being the reason she had to move. If he just didn’t cheat in the first place, then her mom wouldn’t have cheated as revenge and they wouldn’t have gotten a divorce. So their relationship is only a little worse than her relationship with Luis, occasional pleasantries but mostly try to avoid each other.
Her grades were definitely enough to get her a scholarship to a college, and she was offered a few, but unfortunately she didn’t go. Her brother was only 8 and her mom couldn’t take care of everything by herself so she declined with the hopes that eventually she’ll be able to go to a good college and help her family out more afterwards once they have enough money to survive without her or Ricardo is old enough to work himself.

Melody Rhee
2. Where and when were you born?
Blue District; in Sector Three.
3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
Harmony Rhee; mother who died giving birth to younger sister Lyrica. She was an airhead like Melody and incredibly kind to anyone and everyone she met. She used to be a traveling musician before she settled down.
Alto Rhee; father who died during Blue Out while protecting his daughter Lyrica from the acid rain and bombs falling from the sky. Prior to his wife’s death he was a kind man who was an aspiring actor. Afterwards, he became a drunkard who was mentally abusive towards his daughter Melody and sexually abusive towards his youngest, Lyrica ( who looks like the spitting image of her mother) .
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Lyrica Rhee; younger sister that acts like a diva. She’s an amazing singer like her mother once was but an awful personality especially towards Melody who she believes is too over bearing. On multiple occasions she’s claimed that she hates Melody.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
Melody lives in an apartment with her three friends in the red district. It’s a studio with tattered furniture and they all have futons in that one tiny room.

04. FAMILY & HOME
Immediate Family: Her mother, Millie Rose, father, Daniel Richardson, twin sister Charlie Richardson, and younger half-siblings, Christopher and Caroline Richardson. How do they feel about their family? Family used to be really simple for Marley. She’d grown up with her mom and they were as close as two people could be. Her mother had been her hero. She’d also known she had been a twin once upon a time but her mother had said the other little girl, the first one, had been a stillborn. She’d also been told her father had left town when she was a baby. When Marley was a teenager she’d discovered that hadn’t been true and that her father was a drunken Southsider and her sister had grown up on the Southside with him. She hadn’t been able to process the information well and this led to a huge blowout with her mother but they’ve since been working on mending the relationship. Marley has a hard time trusting anyone because of this. She resents her father for not reaching out as well but there’s something about him that she can’t entirely hate. She’d always wanted her dad growing up, wondering why he’d just left.
She loves her siblings a lot, all of them had no part in the lies and she could never hold Charlie, Christopher, or Caroline accountable for their parents’ choices. While she doesn’t entirely get her sister all the time, and has only known her since she was 18, she’d do anything for her and the same goes for Christopher and Caroline. Sometimes Marley feels like it’s them against the world. How does their family feel about them?: Her mother feels very guilty about the lies but she felt it was better. She is constantly working at repairing the damage.
Daniel, or Danny as she has now learned he prefers, is fairly indifferent towards Marley, that of course unless he needs anything from her.
Both Christopher and Caroline love Marley a lot, it’s really hard not to and Marley will bend over backwards for them and they would gladly do the same.
Charlie didn’t trust Marley in the beginning, there was a good amount of resentment and jealousy on top of the lack of trust. All that being said, it’s been a while and Marley has proven to Charlie she’s worthy and she’s family and Charlie is just as protective of Marley as she is of Christopher and Caroline. You can hardly tell they didn’t grow up as a unit. Pets: None. Where do they live?: Northside, with Bethany in the apartment above the bookstore. Description of their home: Apartment above the bookstore. 3 bedrooms. Not huge but spacious enough for her to share with Bethany. Description of their bedroom: Tidy, many knicknacks in their place. Lots of colour.
05. THIS OR THAT
Introvert or Extrovert? Optimist or Pessimist? Leader or Follower? Confident or Self-Conscious? Cautious or Careless? Religious or Secular? Passionate or Apathetic? Book Smarts or Street Smarts? Compliments or Insults? Pajamas or Lingerie?
06. FAVORITES
Favorite Color: Sky Blue/Purple Favorite Clothing Style/Outfit: She loves sweaters and scarves, will dress in them the minute there is a chill.  Favorite Bands/Songs/Type of Music: A little bit of everything but she’s a pretty big TSwift fan. Along with anything from Broadway. She also can’t help but love P!nk. Favorite Movies: Always a sucker for something Disney or romantic. She also adores anything with Brie Larson ever since Captain Marvel, Harry Potter. Favorite Books: Harry Potter, A Little Princess, Handle With Care. Favorite Foods/Drinks: Chocolate, Pizza, Milkshakes Favorite Sports/Sports Teams: N/A Favorite Time of Day: Breakfast time. Favorite Weather/Season: She finds something she loves about every season but Fall has her heart.  Favorite Animal: Dogs
07. MISCELLANEOUS
Fears/Superstitions: Heights. Political Views: Left. Addictions: Chocolate. Best School Subject: Drama, but academically, Maths. Worst School Subject: She did really well overall but science was a little difficult School Clubs/Sports: Glee club How does she get money? Working at Pop’s and the bookstore. How is she with technology? Fairly decent.
08. PAST & FUTURE
Fondest Memory: The first time Charlie really hugged her. A hug she knew wasn’t just an obligation and was free of the distrust Marley had been so used to picking up. Deepest, Darkest Secret: Developing an eating disorder in her senior year due to finding out that her entire life was a lie and never telling anyone about it. She hides it now with her love of food, but the idea of throwing it up, or not eating, arises in times of stress. Dream Vacation: New York City - Broadway Best thing that has ever happened to this character: Even if it took a while to get used to, finding Charlie, Christopher, and Caroline. They’re her family, no matter how long it took. Worst thing that has ever happened to this character: Her eating disorder and the conflicts that caused it. What do they want to be when they grow up?: Secretly, a singer on the radio. Perfect Date: Something so romantic it could be in a movie.
09. HEADCANONS
Growing up on the Northside, Marley did grow up with some privilege but she definitely wasn’t as well off as other families who happened to live on this side of the tracks. Being the only child of a single parent made Marley stick out as opposed to a lot of her classmates growing up and Marley wouldn't have admitted it, but she always caught herself daydreaming about the dad that left and the sister she never had.
Because she works at Pop’s which is in a pretty neutral area, Marley has ended up befriending people from the North and South side alike. She sees past where people are from or what gang they happen to be in. Some may call her naive, but she sees herself as just a good person.
Marley used to be a person who’d take most of what anyone said as truthful, sarcasm aside of course, but when she found out her mother had lied to her her whole life she developed a plethora of trust issues. To her luck, she’s worked through a lot of them but generally isn’t as trusting as she used to be.
During her senior year of high school, Marley had a project about family history and instead of bothering her mom about that, something she’d given up on long ago, she decided to look into it herself and with that she found Danny and then Charlie, Christopher, and Caroline. She immediately confronted her mother and had it out with her, yelling and tears galore. The fight ended with Marley leaving, slamming the door like the dramatic person she is, and staying the next couple nights with her best friend.
During this time Marley was barely eating, something new to her, and when she did eat, she could often be found throwing it back up. She lost some weight but most people just complimented her, which she didn’t know how to feel about. She kept her secrets to herself, not telling a soul, and as things with Charlie and the younger twins settled out, Marley did her best to deal with her ED on her own, using her stubborness against herself. Because she never truly dealt with her disorder, it can pop up from time to time when she gets too overwhelmed.
Marley has a bit of an issue with people who are frequently drinking because of her father. Sure, she can be found with a bottle of wine every now and then but if there came a time, she could give it up if she wanted.
Marley isn’t quite never been kissed, she was a theatre kid, but she’s never had a relationship and has certainly never had sex. Marley has also known that she wasn’t straight from a young age, and told her mom when she was 15. Millie was completely fine with it, only caring that Marley find someone who loves her for all of who she is.

"Waitress" show #763
Sugar, butter, flour: three simple ingredients which, when proportioned, mixed, and baked correctly, will make a delectable dessert. The ingredients that make up the Jessie Nelson/Sara Bareilles musical adaptation of the 2007 film are just like a pie: simple and will satisfy a sweet tooth. This musical elevates the rom-com genre by making the journey of Jenna, the central heroine, representational for women who have ever had a dream, had to overcome an abusive husband, and/or an undesired pregnancy. Christine Dwyer, leading the tour as Jenna, is a substantially gifted performer, giving Jenna the attentive nuance she needs to be a character worth investing in. However, it is the supporting cast of waitresses and male figures that truly give Waitress its applaud-worthy praise.
The divergence from a typical Broadway score works in Ms. Bareilles' favor, for the most part. The three “I Want” songs the three leading waitresses sing sporadically through the play are intentional, strong deviations from the plot and a true source of getting to know the internal drive of these women. However, the group numbers such as the bouncy “Opening Up,” the wittily written “The Negative,” and the affair-justifying “Bad Idea” serve Ms. Bareilles’ ability to write impressive harmonies rather than plot-pushing tunes. There are times when this serves as a pleasant break in the pace, thanks to infallible direction by Diane Paulus, such as when the Women’s ensemble deliver a stellar “Club Knocked Up,” a harmoniously fun scene transition. Otherwise, none compare to Jenna’s torch song in Act two, “She Used to Mine,” which Ms. Dwyer absolutely rocks. Her struggle, her strength, and her stamina all culminate in an anthem of inspiring, female empowering proportions. Aside from Ms. Dwyer’s vocals, which are also in glorious sound for her earlier “What Baking Can Do,” she has a great balance of all the quirks and traits Jenna is endowed with. Taking on a role that is written to be relatable to a variety of women, Ms. Dwyer finds the balance of strong-willed and submissive to the husbandry abuse, talented baker, lover of men, and confidant to her co-worker friends. A star turn is what Ms. Dwyer brings to this tour, a performance worthy of your time and ticket money.
Ms. Nelson’s writing is strong due to the fact that each of the female characters is purpose-driven. You know they have a journey to make, a transformation to go through, and a struggle inhibiting access to their respective finish line. (The male characters have very little journey and change, but are so specifically written that each performer has their time to shine.) Of the supporting females, Maiesha McQueen and understudy Gerianne Perez are in dynamite form as Jenna’s fellow waitresses, Becky and Dawn, respectively. These two team up with Ms. Dwyer early on for “A Soft Place to Land” and are a fabulous trio of singer-actors. Ms. McQueen’s sassy delivery of Becky’s quips are comedy gold, and her vocal turn in the Act two opener, “I Didn’t Plan It,” is worth the wait to hear her belt and decorate Ms. Bareilles’ score. Ms. Perez nails the quirky, odd-duck Dawn by grounding her performance in complete sincerity with her desire to find a lover. Ms. Perez’s turn at “When He Sees Me” is genuine, finely-sung, and staged/physicalized with a spastic insecurity that is consistent with Dawn’s attributes.
Steven Good delivers an endearing turn as a charming Dr. Pomatter, Jenna’s gynecologist. The two spark a near-immediate attraction for one another, an insta-chemistry that Ms. Dwyer and Mr. Good develop organically and believably. Mr. Good’s unsure demeanor is a nice complement to how spitfire Ms. Dwyer’s Jenna is, and his vocals are sublime in their does-nothing-for-the-plot-but-nice-to-listen-duet, “It Only Takes a Taste.” Matt DeAngelis is so good at being the bad husband, the blue collar drunken he-man, Earl. Mr. DeAneglis’ turn at “You Will Still Be Mine” is really a solo disguised as a duet with Jenna, a song about possession and Earl’s deep-seated insecurities and control issues. The role of Earl is sadly the most undeveloped role, a truly two-dimensional character. Earl never sees a moment of redemption, and there’s not much script to support any justifiable attraction between he and Jenna. However, Ms. Paulus’ direction and Mr. DeAngelis’ acting choices make him a character of interest, one that you feel exactly how you should feel about every time he tromps on stage. Alex Tripp absolutely steals the show as Ogie, Dawn’s eventual betrothed; yes, Dawn finds love! Ms. Tripp’s unsuspecting, eccentric demeanor magnifies the genius staging and lyrics of his breakout solo, “Never Ever Getting Rid of Me.” Mr. Tripp is a constant delight every time he spouts impulsive poetry, sucks the inhaler, and poses with flare.
Featured standouts come at the hands of Rheaume Crenshaw as Nurse Norma and Larry Marshall as Joe. Ms. Crenshaw’s comedic fire builds with every scene she enters at Dr. Pomatter’s office, whether it’s with a condescending comment or act of pie thievery. Mr. Marshall’s veteran presence and slow burn allurement brings nuance to every scene he is in, always indicative of the journey he is going on, culminating in a beautifully sung, simply staged “Take it From an Old Man,” a true swan song for the “old man” character in the show. It’s moments like this where the otherwise over-choreographed work from Lorin Latarro is stripped away and used to accent the scene rather than visually stun. With the limited ensemble (a great casting choice since a bigger ensemble is not necessary), the excessive staging becomes tiresome, though it is executed with consistent sharpness and commitment in honoring each beat of movement.
Ms. Paulus’ choice to have the musically gifted band infiltrating many scenes doesn’t pay off in the way it may be intended, but certainly doesn’t dilute the affect this musical has in embodying and promoting a sense of community, empowerment, and one’s pursuit of happiness. Complete with a stellar, decadent set design by Scott Pask and visually stunning lighting by Ken Billington, Waitress is a musical treat for the romantic at heart. Indulge your musical sweet tooth and catch Waitress in your hometown before it’s too late!

PART 1: THE BASICS
What is your full name?
My full name is Karla Lydia Norwood. First name came from a magazine my mom was reading while she was pregnant with me, middle name was my grandmother from my mother’s side name.
Where and when were you born?
I was born on June 25th 1994, two days apart from my best friend, in a small town called Checotah.
Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
My mom’s called Erin. She’s the greatest mom there is. She works as a primary school teacher at a school in Tulsa, but I know that wasn’t what she wanted to do. Of course, she doesn’t hate her career, but I know her first choice was becoming a painter. She decided to give that up when she got pregnant with my oldest brother, because she wanted to have a stable job to provide for her family. My dad’s name was Wen. He passed away when I was four years old, so I don’t know much of him. What I know is what my mom and brothers shared with me. They were twelve and sixteen at the time — and they both knew him a lot better than me. What they told me was that he was caring, and understanding. He was really involved in our lives — my brothers could tell him anything and he would listen to them, help them if needed. They never felt as if they were on their own. Although he was stricter than my mom, he never made them feel as if they should be afraid to confide in him. When he died, my mom took care of the three of us, always making sure she was there for us. Even if she was tired from work, or she was suffering because of losing my dad, she was strong for us. She rarely showed how much she was suffering, though growing up there were little things hinting at how much she missed him, like how sad her eyes were and how there were tears in her eyes when anyone brought him up. Although she had to be stricter with the boys, she wasn’t too strict with me. She knew she could trust me. She taught me kindness and understanding above everything. My parents made sure I had a great life, and I will always be grateful for that.
Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
I have two brothers named James and Nathan. James is the oldest one — and also the one who was closest to my dad. Besides my mom, he was the one who was affected the most by his death. He started drinking as a coping mechanism, thinking he had everything under control. Except things became worse. Alcohol wasn’t enough anymore — so he began using drugs. Those years were difficult — I didn’t get to know my brother the way he normally was. One day, he had a huge fight with my mom. He ended up moving away after that, and he rarely was around anymore. If I saw him twice a year, that was good. He came back when I was ten, right after he was out of rehab. He stayed with us for two years, the time he figured out his life. That’s when I really started to get to know him. He’s intelligent and ambitious, but he also inherited my parents’ kindness. We all did, but aside from my mom, I never met someone who cares for people as much as he does, which explains why he’s now a social worker. Nathan is unlike anyone in the family. When he was a teenager he was energetic and always joked around. Nowadays he’s calmer, but he still jokes a lot. He’s married and has a five year old daughter now, which is surprising. My mom and I didn’t think he would settle down that fast — he got married as soon as he was out of college, and two years later he had Lily.
Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
I live in Los Angeles with the love of my life and singer Ella Frost. Describing our house would take me days, all I want to say is that I’ve never imagined I would have a house like this, and on top of everything, that I would share the place with the one I’ve loved for my entire life.
What is your occupation?
I’m a photographer. I didn’t get to know my father, but what always came back in the stories my family told me was his love for photography. He was a professional photographer. Seeing the photos he took was enough to make me fall in love with the art of photography, a passion that kept on developing as I grew up. Despite not getting to know him, photography made me feel as if I had something in common with him. Nothing will replace how much photography means to me.
Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
I’m 5'4″ and 55 kg. Half Chinese from my father’s side, half English, Scottish, Irish and German from my mother’s side. I have dark brown eyes and medium brown hair with blonde streaks. My fashion style can be summarized in one word: denim. Lots and lots of denim clothing. I don’t have any tattoos yet, but I do have a crescent shaped scar on my right shoulder from a childhood bike accident.
To which social class do you belong?
I have belonged to the middle class my entire life, but one change in my life changed that status to high class.
Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
I’m lactose intolerant, otherwise nothing.
Are you right- or left-handed?
Right-handed.
What does your voice sound like?
It’s kind of raspy, I guess?
What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
I say “I know” quite a lot, otherwise I don’t think I have anything else.
What do you have in your pockets?
All my keys which include car keys, house keys, garage keys. Also a pack of gum and my phone.
Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I have a few. I only own three pairs of shoes. I tend to count the stairs when I climb a stairwell. I need to have my phone with me at all times — not because I’m obsessed with social media, but because I need the camera in case there’s anything interesting to capture. I have terrible handwriting.
PART 2: GROWING UP
How would you describe your childhood in general?
Happy. I was surrounded by my family who put me above everything — since I was the youngest in the family, they were all quite protective of me. Not to mention I grew up with the greatest best friend there is.
What is your earliest memory?
My mother holding me in her arms after waking up from a bad dream. I didn’t want to go back to sleep because I was terrified, but she told me there was no reason for me to be afraid because she was there to protect me, and that she would always be there to take care of me.
How much schooling have you had?
I have my high school diploma — haven’t gone to college, and I don’t think I will.
Did you enjoy school?
I mean, it was alright. I didn’t have too many friends, but I didn’t care about that as long as Ella was by my side. Education wise, I didn’t mind the classes too much. I was an average student — I learned just enough to pass. I didn’t hate school, but it wasn’t great either.
Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
My photography skills were from a class I took outside of school. I inherited my mom’s cooking skills — though I’ll never be as great as she is. Bartending wasn’t too difficult either. The person working there before me showed me what I had to do, and after some practice I didn’t have difficulties repeating what I observed.
While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
My mother continues to be my role model.
While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
I got along well with all of them. Obviously I have a great relationship with my mom, but I also was close to Nathan. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with my oldest brother James because of his addictions, but I never was against him. Neither of us were.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’ve always dreamed of being a photographer.
As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Spending time with Ella. Building pillow forts. Going to the park. I mostly loved being outside.
As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Shyness. Unless I was with Ella, because then I wouldn’t stop talking. I was quite active too — still am. Running remains one of my favorite activities. I was spontaneous too. I was more aggressive, too. I couldn’t stand seeing other children get made fun of, so I didn’t mind getting into trouble for taking someone else’s defense.
As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I wasn’t popular, but I wasn’t an outsider either. Other children just didn’t notice me. I only hung out with Ella. She was incredible, just like she is now. Whenever I was with her, I felt like I could be myself without worrying. She didn’t judge me — on the contrary, she understood me.
When and with whom was your first kiss?
My first kiss was in tenth grade with a girl named Alicia. She kissed me, but then she never talked to me again. It was quite confusing.
Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
Not anymore. Had a great night with the love of my life.
Describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
I’ve been influenced by literally everything and everyone that was part of my life. Naming just a few things — my dad influenced my passion for photography, my mom influenced almost everything about the person I am today. As for events, the best friend I thought I lost coming back and becoming my girlfriend showed me you never know what life has to offer.
PART 3: PAST INFLUENCES
What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Taking the next step with Ella. I’ve known her my entire life, and I have been in love with her for years. Being with her is worth everything we’ve been through.
Who has had the most influence on you?
My mother is the one who has the most influence, but Ella influenced me throughout the years quite a lot too.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Being strong enough to live after everything life put me through.
What is your greatest regret?
Not taking the opportunity to live my life when I graduated high school because I was scared of change. I didn’t want to leave my hometown because I was fine there, but I wasn’t really living. Not having the courage to follow the career I’m passionate about because I was afraid of the outcome. I just wish I wouldn’t have listened to my mind back then.
What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
I don’t think I have done anything that bad, though there is one part of my life where I resented Ella for not reciprocating my feelings, but it didn’t take me long to realize it wasn’t her fault. We can’t control who we fall in love with.
Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
I was almost arrested once for breaking into the local pool when I was sixteen, but I didn’t get caught.
When was the time you were the most frightened?
When my brother overdosed. I didn’t want to lose him.
What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
Kissing Ella when she didn’t have romantic feelings for me. I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable, and I think I should have dealt with that better.
If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
There are plenty of things I would change. Of course, I would have wanted my dad to be here with us. He would have seen me grow up, and I would have known him. My brother wouldn’t have suffered so much that he would need alcohol and drugs. My mom wouldn’t be heartbroken. But in the end, I think each thing that happened in my life made me stronger.
What is your best memory?
Spending Christmas with my girlfriend and our families after years of being apart.
What is your worst memory?
Visiting my brother at the hospital when he overdosed. I can’t forget how much hopelessness and sadness I felt at that moment.
PART 4: BELIEFS & OPINIONS
Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Optimistic, I’d say. There was a time in the past where I was a pessimist, but now I’d rather look at the bright side of life.
What is your greatest fear?
Losing a loved one.
What are your religious views?
I’m agnostic.
What are your political views?
I’m a democrat.
What are your views on sex?
Well, my girlfriend has like a million songs which answer that exact question.
Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
Under no circumstances. Taking someone’s life is unacceptable.
In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
Murdering someone.
Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Yes. How else could I explain being with Ella after I thought I lost her?
What do you believe makes a successful life?
Being happy’s the key. You can have as much money as you desire, but if you’re not happy, none of that matters.
How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
My first instinct is to hide my feelings, but that’s the way I am. I don’t like revealing too much about myself.
Do you have any biases or prejudices?
I mean, I might have some, but nothing that I can remember right now.
Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
Criminal offenses, for obvious reasons.
Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
My family and my girlfriend.
PART 5: RELATIONSHIPS W/ OTHERS
In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
I’m not the greatest at socializing, but once I get to know the person and I feel comfortable around them, I feel better being myself. Unless someone repeatedly attempts to make me mad, I treat everyone with respect.
Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
My mother, because she raised me and was there for me through everything.
Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Still my mother, because aside from myself she also had to take care of my brothers while also dealing with the grief coming with my father passing away.
Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
I have a best friend. Her name’s Ella and she’s my soulmate.
Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
Last time I checked that title still belonged to Ella.
Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
I’ve been in love with best friend since I was like sixteen years old. I only had the courage to kiss her years later before she moved away, and she broke my heart. I spent the next years trying to move on and forget about the heartbreak, forget how I lost my best friend, but none of that happened. Instead, she came back. She told me she reciprocated my feelings, and now we’re happily in a relationship.
What do you look for in a potential lover?
Being able to trust them with everything.
How close are you to your family?
Very close. We’re getting along great.
Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
Not yet. I mean, if you consider how I want to spend the rest of my life with Ella, I kinda did, but nothing’s official yet.
Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
The people closest to me.
Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
My family, because they always did that, and Ella because she also did that my entire life.
If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
My family and hopefully my girlfriend. I’m gonna ask her later.
Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
I don’t despise anyone. Life’s too short to spend time hating someone.
Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
Avoid conflict.
Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
Not at all.
Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
No, because I’m an introverted and quite insecure about myself.
Do you care what others think of you?
To an extent. I care what people who matter to me think about me.
PART 6: LIKES & DISLIKES
What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
Photography.
What is your most treasured possession?
The photo album with photographs my dad took before he passed away.
What is your favorite color?
Light blue.
What is your favorite food?
I don’t have one.
What, if anything, do you like to read?
I like to read, but I don’t make enough effort to clear my schedule and read so I don’t read a lot books.
What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
Music is great, especially when it’s listening to my girlfriend sing, or even write new songs. Movies are great too.
Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
I don’t. I drink occasionally, but not to the point where I get drunk.
How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Spending time with my girlfriend. Whether we’re watching movies or going on a date somewhere, I always have the best time when I’m with her.
What makes you laugh?
My girlfriend. I hate to be that annoying person who thinks their significant other is great at everything, but Ella really is hilarious.
What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
People being close-minded. Hearing discriminating comments pisses me off.
What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
Definitely read more.
How do you deal with stress?
I talk to someone I trust about why I’m stressing, and usually they reassure me.
Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
I have my moments of spontaneity, but most of the time I like planning.
What are your pet peeves?
People talking loudly when they’re on the phone. Someone thinking they won an argument just because you decided arguing isn’t worth your time. People thinking they’re superior because they have money. Lots of things like that.
PART 7: SELF IMAGES & OTHER
Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
Since I moved to California, pretty much every day is different, because that’s how my girlfriend’s career is, and we spend a lot of time together. Not spending time with her would disrupt my routine, and I usually feel sad when that happens.
What is your greatest strength as a person?
Not falling apart when bad things happen.
What is your greatest weakness?
Thinking people will judge me negatively as soon as I start talking.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Having confidence in myself — but I’m slowly working towards that.
Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Definitely introverted.
Are you generally organized or messy?
Organized.
Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
Three things I’m good at is understanding people’s points of view, being communicative and taking photographs. Three things I’m bad at is talking in front of people, trusting people I meet and spending time away from my girlfriend.
Do you like yourself?
I definitely think I like myself more than a few years ago, even a few months ago, but there’s still progress to make.
What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
Have a photography based career.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself having formed a family with Ella. Otherwise, traveling around the world and capturing each moment.
If you could choose, how would you want to die?
In my sleep of old age.
If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
Spend time with the people close to me, visit my favorite places and write letters for when I’m gone.
What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
Being kind.
What three words best describe your personality?
Quiet, understanding and kind.
What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Strong, loyal and insecure.
