It was both funny and wistful how Virgil, when confronted by both his sister and father to eat the breakfast the former had made, immediately tried to get his mother on his side. How? By essentially praying to her, which feels like a lowkey way to establish why the Hawkins household is a single-parent one without bringing the plot to a total halt in "Shock to the System" to explain what happened. I vaguely recall that there'll be an episode involving time travel that will fully explain the circumstances of their mom's death.

Also? It technically works, with Sharon taking a phone call right after, giving Virgil enough time to toss the undercooked eggs into the trash and head out to school.
