The river was always the best place to find beautiful stones and rocks to add to your collection. The constant flow of water and minerals on the once rough jagged surface, leaving it soft and smooth, evenly tumbled by nature.
Much better than those tumbling kits that cost a fortune to buy and shot up your electric bill.
Every time you had a chance, you would head to the river near to your home, sometimes to look for rocks and stones, other times to listen to the peacefulness of running water. It would calm you if you were stressed or anxious or even angry, leaving you better than you'd felt when you arrived.
Today was a 'just because' visit, however, wanting to see if any rocks had been carried downstream as you walked along the edge. It wasn't too late, the sun had begun it's descent, but you still had about an hour of daylight left before it really would become too dark to see anything.
You had come across a few Petoskey's stones, a few that you'd added to your collection, another few you'd let flow back into the stream. And even a piece of limestone and marble had been stuck beneath the clear depths of running water. However, just as you were about to give up, you noticed a bit of a glint in the water towards the other end of the riverbed.
Deciding it was worth checking out, you took off your socks and shoes, not wanting to get them wet, and set them aside on the edge before climbing in. The water was cold, enveloping you up to your ankles, but it was relaxing after getting over the initial shock.
Upon getting closer, you reached into the water and picked up the shining item, only to notice it wasn't a stone or rock at all. It was a scale, and the glint in the water turned into a glow once out of the river and in your fingertips.
"I believe that's my scale. But I'm sure it'd make a wonderful addition to your collection."
