Scrappy backed a cake for Daphne. It wasn't easy to hide it from uncle Scooby and Shaggy, but the pup managed it anyway 😌. Part of my fanfiction.I kept the colorization simple since I will use this little guy with elements from screenshots from the show to make a title card montage for my audiobook on YouTube. Unfortnatelly I start with the German version of my fanfic. Hopefully I can dub the English translated audiobook next year...

So, there's the full story: Scrappy, 🐶 his uncle Scooby and Shaggy are still working for the Fearless Detektive Agency🕵 - owned by Shag's uncle Fearless Shaggaford. The pup got a chemistry ⚗set for Christmas and since then is an aspiring chemical inventor🧑‍🔬. He works on a paint that makes people and things invisible.👀 Meanwhile his uncle and Shaggy take a nap on the writing desk - as usual... 😴 unfortnatelly Scrappy causes an explosion that blows up the detective office and the jewelry shop right above. 😖At this point the 3 guys already live in the Mystery Machine and have no room for an office anymore. Uncle Shaggaford is enraged and practically fires them. So since Daphne already wanted to work with them as an indepentent investigative reporter they move into one of her large mansions. Daphne funds the "Scooby Detevtives Agency" and "Scooby Headquarters" is born. Always wanted to explain how it came that they all moved in together😉 in the 80's Scooby Doo shows.

Hope in the midst of low points (Proof that things may be getting better for Scrappy, in spite of everything)

So a year or two back Scrappy was trashed by the Scooby Doo Reunion, irritating us.

And when Jonathan Stern did an interview and that part came up, in which he said more irritating things of that vein. But there was something he said that caught my attention: And yeah, I know it's nestled in a bunch of trash talk and it's maybe small in the course of things, but I haven't really seen this before.

JM: Was that a risk? Did you need approval to say what you say about Scrappy-Doo?

JS: Well I certainly needed approval, and I think [the Mystery Machine Gang] actually bad-talked Scrappy-Doo a little bit more in the first draft of the script. And that got noted out. There is enough consensus amongst the many people that I was working with that Scrappy-Doo is not a high point of the Scooby-Doo franchise. I think there’s a lot of comfort level in making Scrappy-Doo the butt of jokes. If you watch the Scrappy-Doo episodes, he’s not nice to Scooby. He’s kind of a d*ck. I feel if you watch it, you feel protective of Scooby and the other characters. Scrappy doesn’t belong here. Stop bothering them! And little things. Why does he have such a more fluid way of speaking English than Scooby? It really undermined… it suddenly made Scooby the dumb one of the partnership. I didn’t like that. Obviously Scrappy has not become a permanent fixture in the Scooby universe. I’m sure there are some Scrappy fans out there. But also every reunion special has its dramatic moments, so we had to find our dramatic moment.

I don't know if I really buy his explanation. Seems more like he just wanted to trash talk Scrappy. Scrappy isn't a d*ck, IMHO. He has a social deficit where he can't read the emotions and nonverbal signals of others.

But anyway, the point is that the Scrappy trash talking was reigned in. If that's a thing that happens, that's good.

Maybe things are getting better.

tumblr user ihatejonarbuckle is a tumblr blog dedicated nearly exclusively to hating jon arbuckle from the garfield comics. the blog hasn't been consistently active in ages, but sometimes they post.

jon's alleged crimes include animal abuse, murder, and misogyny/sexual harassment. there's like So Much.

there are other jon arbuckle hate tumblrs but this is the only one that matters to me.

(side-note: i've been aware of ihatejonarbuckle for so long that i was there when they were good friends with another silly account dedicated to hating a cartoon character: fuck-scrappydoo. fuck-scrappydoo is afaik abandoned though, and its creator went on to create mysillycomics!! tumblr history!!)
