Progress update! Facial expression practice via line-of-action . com, from 30 seconds to 10 minutes

I'm finally getting comfortable with anatomy again, I'm not feeling as pressed to put down minor guidelines and section out where the mouth and eye go. Being given a whole 30 seconds to jot down the most important facial features and head angle is good for getting past that block, for me at least. The nose tends to be a good enough anchor point for placement.

Next step is using the expressions as reference but using other face shapes and features, so I can get characters and ocs making the expressions I want. I'll give myself a couple more days just practicing like this though

#i gave myself a challenge today #i said i wouldn't put down lines for the eyes and mouth and just go with my gut feeling about placement #because measuring out the distance between major guidelines just to get super precise about placement #almost takes me longer than drawing the face itself #when i switch to digital worst case i lasso it and scootch it down a few pixles #i cannot let myself focus on perfectionism or i won't make any progress #I'm pretty happy with how the two 10 minute faces turned out #but anyway #rin doodles
