#shepropchallenge day 22: a cosplay you still need good photos of I have a couple costumes that only have cell phones photos and that I’m home hoping to do actual photoshoots with, including this one, but there’s a serious reason I’ve selected Rey for today. A few months ago Magnoli Clothiers posted a racist parody of Born In the USA on YouTube (one line said COVID was “born in a Wuhan Lab”) and when called out on it issued a pathetic non-apology saying they were “sorry for any upset that it caused.” Today I saw a post by Magnoli sharing an accessory for Rey that they were selling. Do you think Rey would want you to support a racist xenophobic company with your money? If you don’t see the problem with this you missed the entire point of Star Wars. Please help spread the word so people who care about kindness and inclusion and fighting racism can avoid inadvertently supporting this company. Oh and they haven’t taken down the video. #justsewjan #day25 May the force be with you. A Pretty easy prompt for me as the #starwars #movies have always been a huge inspiration in why I #sew. Actually it was hard to pick what to post. I guess my favorite Star Wars creation would be the #resistancerey #vest I made for my little sister. #disclaimer : I know a lot of #starwarscosplayers love accuracy. Since my little sister is a very casual cosplayer and herringbone wool is expensive, this is a budget version. I decided my personal goal for this costume was patterning the vest. If I had known I would have been 90% happy with what I did, I may have went for the herringbone. I still do love the bargain bin #chenille I found. Close up, it has a close weave. Since starting this project, I’ve gotten to experience the work of many #scavengersisters who are so resourceful like #rey

If this were a normal year, I’d be prepping to drive down to San Diego today for Comic Con & 4 days of geekery, complaining, & seeing friends. But it’s #sdccathome this year (smart & safe), and while it cuts down on FOMO, I am missing my annual long weekend vacation with friends new & old.
