P.s. You're lucky you stopped reading the AB books at 6. They got progressively more terrible especially later on.

I am emphatically not a fan of LKHs work, I read six of them because my friends loved them and I kept waiting for them to Get Good, so when even my friends said "after book six it gets bad" I gave up. Also. Richard ate someone. You can't come back from that 💀

ult fave vamp, dracula castlvania, i will marry him. i also really enjoy lesat and louis from interview w a vampire theyre fun dudes! i enjoy niko from the scarlet cherie series, hes quite fun! alucard from hellsing is so neat nd fun, i need to finish the show but hes def up there i adore him. juliet from the wizard of waverly place, shes just funny ngl (i unironically love that show shut up shut up shut up) , david from thelost boys nd i forgot his name but the brother also was fun too! (The lsotboys cracks me up im obsessed w how the vampires carried themselves) and lastly, i havent actually gotten to him yet bc im still in s1 of buffy but i think i will adore spike so im preemptively putting him on this list

Is there a known origin for vampires in Scarlet Cheries world? Apologies if there is one stated that I've managed to miss.

This is a great question!

So, it's never officially stated. However, it is briefly touched upon in the second book when Laith Quillan is talking about the many reasons there is tension between wereanimals (therianthropes) and vampires. He suggests that it is because they are both cursed by the moon, but weres are cursed with life/the beast and the other with death. A curse is therefore one theory of their origin as well as one theory for the discourse between groups.

In truth, no one (including me lol) really knows, but it is something I've thought about a lot and have considered including in a later book. In the series, all supernatural creatures exist and always have. There are something called "creatures of light" and "creatures of darkness", of which vampires are the latter, so they play a natural role in the world, even if it is on the arcane side of it, they aren't an anomaly.

Oh, you will be seeing much, much more!

Although only the first three books are published for now, the next two in the series have been written and I am working on the 6th! Book 4 will be out this year, around summertime.

Not me getting emotional thinking about how, after Scarlet’s death and entry into vampirism, she created a found family with Rune, Nikolaos, Adalia, Kai, and eventually Laith and the others. How, despite the fact they argue on occasion and have hurtful history between them, they will unite for Scarlet and fight at each other’s side. That even tho Nikolaos and Rune may say they hate each other, they would risk their lives for the other. They all love each other, they’ve all found each other as a solid presence after years of being the “other”, having no family and no one to call their own. Idk I just love them all so much and think they’re so beautiful.
