the thing about the boys is that it's got an extremely important message/core (critique of capitalism, american nationalism, right wing conservative bullshit, white supremacy, fake woke girlboss feminism, rainbow capitalism, "woke" brands, exploitative corporations, the way technology and the internet and social media controls everyone's lives to an extreme degree, etc etc etc) but it's also doing it on like. literally the worst platform imaginable (amazon) so you get shit like the entire show being about all corporations being evil and then putting an amazon ad 9 minutes into the season premiere

No but actually Hobie being a cat dad makes sense
it absolutely does but i'm just thinking of two things:
1, hobie having a superrr chill cat. like one that just lounges in the sun, gets pet, and gets fed. and he likes how low maintenance it is, and that's his baby. he's always petting it, holding it in his arms like he's in the godfather, barely putting the cat down. it sleeps in his bed with him, he has pictures framed of it (canon), he gives it a little spiky collar so they match. like that's literally his child.
2, hobie having an absolutely menace of a cat, but only he doesn't see how terrifying his pet is. glaring at guests, hissing at you when you come over. veryyy territorial, too, but hobie just brushes it off, putting one arm around you and the other around his cat, saying that you two are his babies even though there's some human-cat rivalaries happening there. but he's also super proud of his "anarchist" cat (his words ofc)
but like he's 100% a cat dad in general. either way his cat was a stray at first, and hobie kept feeding it until one day it literally followed him home and suddenly he's a Proud Cat Dad™️, buying (stealing) cat food and bargaining for little toys that he can get for them to play with. he doesn't name it at first, always whistling to get the cat to come near him, but if you mention the lack of name one day then suddenly he's brainstorming.
and he names his cat like a dog. there's no "mr whiskers" or anything. his cat is named liked max or bolt or something. but if his cat is the second one, he also calls it troublemaker and he's super happy when the cat answers to it.
