They're celebrities. People are going to find celebrities attractive, especially if these are people they see on screens and billboards every day. If you pick up the nearest magazine you find you're probably going to find Junko Enoshima in it. And maybe you should consider that those "weirdos" who are walking up to Hajime are simply fans that want to greet him. We've watched these people fight through hell, cry, laugh, and find hope along the way. Of course we are going to get attached to them, especially to those of us who have been keeping up with them for a long time now. I think my favorite comparison of Ishin characters with their real life counterparts is Ernest Satow. Yeah, he was a real person. Thing is, in real life, in the time the game takes place the actual Ernest Satow was 24.

Guides: You need substory 70 completed and at least 86% of the memoirs collected for substory 71 to trigger.

LAD Ishin: Notes on the Memoirs

You need to complete the memoirs for the final substories to pop up, since they’re tied to them. I’ve been using a guide to snag the last ones. But here’s what I’ve found out through both guides and my own playthru.

Many are chapter locked. This DOES however make sense, as the substory that gets unlocked after giving Satow 24 of the 26 memoirs directly references stuff that happens in Chapter 12, and loosely ties into it.

Some won’t spawn in certain locations until you max out the friendship of the person tied to that location. *For instance, you can’t get ‘Observations of a Hamamoto’ until you finish your bond with the Cho-Han dealer, etc.

Keep visiting Satow regularly to help them continue spawning.

One is found in Teradaya at the start of Chapter 13. So with a game that has 14 Chapters, this is one thing that will only come about if you are near the games end. Which might frustrate some people who like to have substories completed first.

After collecting 24 of the Memoirs, you go back to where Satow usually is and trigger the Substory. After this substory, take Kamo River Bridge to the Kiyomizu Temple Grounds (Not the bridge that leads to Gion, but the other one) See Here: (I’ve cropped the map to avoid spoilers)

Run all the way to the back once the scene transitions (Ryoma is facing the wrong way here, you want the area behind him) and to the temple, this is where you find Treatise in Defense of Li Naosuke.

At the beginning of Chapter 14 you can trigger the final substory (in Fushimi’s main district, near the izakaya he always hangs out at) It’s all golden after that, your final memoir is given by Satow himself once it’s all done.

(And maybe others didn’t struggle with this as much as I did. I might just be stupid) but in any case! If anyone is like me, here’s some tips to help ya out.
