Sailor Moon is still going strong with the new Cosmos trailer!!!
The new trailer for Sailor Moon Cosmos is ABSOLUTELY INSANE and I AM LOVING IT
I'm kind of glad we haven't seen the Shadow Galactica villains yet, and they're just focusing on Galaxia in the trailers, well for now anyways. There will def be images and probably clips and we'll have even more with part 2 throughout May & June.
I just HOPE there's going to be an international release like they did with Eternal. It went pretty well on Netflix and was easily accessible, but now with COVID being pretty much not an issue, I wonder if they're not gonna go that route with this, which I would understand, but it would make more sense to put it on streaming.
But yeah I'm excited to finally see the Stars arc. The next few months are going to be fun.

NO WAY. The Sailor Moon live-action and anime universes are colliding!
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos's 2nd Movie has Kitagawa Keiko (PGSM Hino Rei/Sailor Mars) cast for the voice of Sailor Cosmos - Sailor Moon’s final and ultimate form in the distant future!
Keiko made a Twitter post about several fun facts regarding this occasion.
1. Keiko gets to work with Mitsuishi Kotono again, and Keiko calls their meeting a "miracle romance"!
Mitsuishi Kotono is well known for voicing Usagi/Moon in the 90’s anime, as well as in Sailor Moon Crystal, Eternal and now in Cosmos, as Usagi/Moon and Chibi Chibi. Keiko got to work with her in the TV Series Rikokatsu (2021), where Kotono played Keiko’s character’s mother.
2. As part of the film's cast greeting event (in Japanese it's called stage greeting) where Keiko's casting was announced, she also participated in an interview in the exact same room where she auditioned for her live-action role 20 years ago! How phenomenal is that?!!!!

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos’s 2nd part will release in Japanese theatres on June 30th, 2023, on Usagi and ChibiUsa's birthday!

In my personal and 100% valid opinion
Aside from actual motion of the characters, the og Crystal artsyle was beautiful and very closely resembled Naoko Takeuchi's artstyle.
The problem was the lack of consistency. The artsyle in seasons 1 and 2 is highly detailed as is Takeuchi's artsyle. But this isn't very ideal with animation. However, I think if handled *better* it could've been an absolutely beautiful anime.
I know that I talk about how season 3 vastly improved the anime, and it did. But it also made it feel less familiar. The style and movement feels less like Sailor Moon. I've never watched the Precure series but the artstyle is like crazy similar to that anime. It's cute but I don't know if it works too well.
That includes the transformation animations. There is some nice work with glitter and spotlights, shininess and whatnot. Nothing to say about the inner and outer senshi sequences since they're remakes of the classic ones. But in Sailor Moon's case, she has a unique one each time. (At least up to episode 32-ish) and how to put this... Usagi's s3 transformation sequence animation is *jarring* there's like- too much exaggeration. And tbh I don't like it at all.
So going back to season 1, the CG that I've talked about before? Yea its jarring too if you're not expecting it. However its also really beautiful. Specifically Usagi's sequence!
Look. At. The. Camera. Angles!!! Like the focus on her hands (which is a consistency in this anime) and the use of panning! Especially in the Tiara shot how it revolves around her as the beams light up from her forehead. It's just so pretty!
And the other recurring clips are really nice too!
Look at the arch that Usagi's arm makes as she performs her signature intro! I love looking at this scene everytime for that part! And the timing with raising her arms before quickly bringing them down as she says "Oshiokyo!" (or "I'll punish you" in dub) Those are things that this clip do better than every other version of this iconic gesture.
And then here, the camera angles again are on point. And the forshortening on her hand is just *chef's kiss*
And something I just wanted to mention, Makoto looks gorgeous in some of these shots from s1 and s2. The artstyle is like perfect for her.
Moving on now, I wanna touch on Eternal. In terms of quality, Eternal is easily my favorite. The character pallets are accurate, and the character animation is excellent.
However. In terms of matching Naoko's artstyle, well it doesn't. Its an homage to the 90s anime. They even recreate the transformation sequence animations for Usagi. Things like the character's hair having less strands and detail. Actually there's less detail in general. But the eye highlights match the manga pretty well. I mean it all works. I could endlessly rant about all I love from Eternal because literally the only issues I've found are with the pacing of the whole thing. I've seen people say that the characters are still really expressionless. I personally don't see that? But like its a valid opinion when comparing it to the 90s anime they were clearly honoring.
I would have loved to see the outer Senshi in the s1 artsyle. Specifically Michiru. One of the things I love about the way Naoko draws her is her flowing gorgeous wavy hair. And she draws it fairly long. Past her shoulders and sometimes longer.
Crystal s3 her debut season, usually drew her hair as long as it should be. And she looked as gorgeous as her manga counterpart. But then Eternal came, and Michiru's character design more resembled the 90s anime. And no offense, but I hate her 90s anime hair. She always looks like someone awkwardly chopped her hair right at her shoulders. Its just not nearly as pretty as she should be designed. Eternal did a mix of the two. Its still pretty but also inconsistent. Because in some scenes it has the choppy look. So yea I'd love to see Michiru and all the other characters in the s1 artsyle. I know it will never happen but still wanna see it.
This is my long winded way of saying I am in the minority and love Crystal seasons 1 and 2 for all its faults and successes. It really had amazing potential to be absolutely beautiful and a big win for shojo anime. If only the time and care was put into the show as a whole and not only certain individual frames or clips.
Because there's some really fricken great sh*t if you look long enough!!

this, as far as i know, has not been explicitly confirmed as part of her qsmp lore but it is part of her vtuber backstory! i have added a summary below for anyone who might want.
SUMMARY OF HEAVENFALL (pt. 1 of ironmouse lore, i haven't watched all vshojo lore in general but i'm going through it rn so i will send messages with other facts i learn)
- in the beginning the creator made everything. then he took a nap forever
- satanael (ironmouse) was an angel. however, she found herself bored with heaven.
- she went to confront gabriel: asked him why no other angels could ever meet the Creator, said that heaven was boring while sin was excited and enhanced life.
- gabriel was furious about this, but she managed to tempt other angels into curiosity with her.
- they were able to see the Creator, but none of them can remember what they saw, only the horror they experienced.
- as punishment, the angels were banished to hell (calliope mori is there too)
- because she was the perpetrator, satanael got the ultimate punishment: locked in a sensory deprivation box for ages.
- eventually bubi, another demon (played by cdawgva) set her free and she ascended to her position as queen of hell.
- however, this was still a boring eternity.
- she fled to earth, taking the name ironmouse after a sailor moon character, and befriended the rest of vshojo. finally, she can enjoy the spontanaiety and joy of life on earth.

Glitter and Glamour Part 1
This was a last minute purchase. My original plan was to wait for the eternal versions of the senshi but then I found all of them for an amazing deal and here we are.
I love how each one has a different color flower.
I did not realize some assembly was required.
As you can see her arm in not entirely in the socket for the photo. The girl kept having her arm fall out. That is a heavy wand or something. It will be glued in the future once it is permanently out on display but she went back into the box like the others.
This is how they look when you first open the box.
Less pieces, yay!
Sailor Mercury is well put together with no issues.
The only senshi they did not require some assembly!

Should be easy to put together, right?
She would not stay up right. I swore a lot at her as she kept falling over. Between Jupiter falling over and Moon's arm falling out, there was a lot of cussing at the senshi.
Hopefully an easy one.
