Neo: Yes, namely the couples cosplay contest! 😁
Jaune: That is surprisingly sweet of yo-waaaaait isn't Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang entering In that contest?...
Neo: Oh really, I had no idea?

Jaune: Wow, power play right there, I'm sure that will resonate with the spectators.
Neo: Not to fear my dumb dumb, for I already found our winning pair.
Jaune: Oh? You seemed to have put some thought into this huh?
Neo: I want that trophy, and if I have it and they don't, it will destroy them. 😈
Jaune: ...
Neo: Sorry, sorry, as for who we are going to cosplay as and don't worry, I know the PERFECT pair, it's two so perfect we have an infinite chance of victory and seeing as how we are VERY good actors I know we can pull this off.
Jaune: How do you know it will be perfect?
Neo, a crazed smirk: I'll have you know my dear Jaune I browsed Schneeter(X) AND if I learned anything, it's that con-goers are all wholesome degenerates!
Suddenly, Neo mismatched eyes both became pink as her hair was now black and tied into a ponytail. She strutted up to him.
Neo: This is going to be so much fun, Andyyyy~
Jaune could only gulp at the smile on her face.

*Vale Convention Center later that day*
Yang, dressed as Twilight with Zwie on her shoulders.
Yang: Give it up, Weiss. Blake and I are going to win this contest!
Weiss dressed as Juvia: Please, Ruby and I will be taking home the trophy we are the best pair after all!
Blake and Ruby, in their respective costumes, just smiled at their girlfriends' competitive spirits.
Host: Hold up ladies, before we can all vote on who is best cosplay couple, we have a late entry!
RWBY: Who?
Host: Introducing (looks at card)...Jaune Arc and Trivia Vanille!
Ruby + Weiss: Jaune!?
Yang: Trivia?
Blake just glared at Zwei, the latter looking pleased as punch.
From behind the curtains stepped out Jaune. His hair for one was now a bit longer a black. He was wearing a black wool sweater and cut up blue jeans and some conventional grey sneakers. He had a bored look on his face. Green eyes conveying no emotion to them, also his face had some splatter of red adorning his left cheek, and he held a cigarette in his right hand and in his left was a large cleaver.
Blake and Ruby go wide-eyed.
Blake: Ruby... you and I are both ruined enough by the internet to know who that is!
Ruby: I know, I can't believe it, but if Jaune's Andrew, then that means...
Ja(Andrew)?: Hey Ashley....hurry it up. This was your idea, after all.
???: Oh fuck off Andrew, you made me carry the pot!
From behind the curtain out stepped Neo(Trivia), now with the same black hair still tied up, her eyes both still a mischevious pink tinge of red splattered on her face as well. She wore a black top and baige shorts along with some brown boots, and on her neck was her black choker. She was carrying a pot that said 'meat stew'. Setting said pot down, 'Ashley' jumped into 'Andrews' awaiting arms before taking 'Andrew's' face into her hands and playfully biting his red splattered cheek before turning to the rest of the crowd and Team RWBY and giving them all the finger.
The crowd roared in celebration.
Host: ...wow, I guess we have our winners, then Jaune and Trivia!
Weiss: i can't believe we all lost
Yang: me neither...
Weiss: It's impossible! We all went out as the most wholesome pair, but those two went out, and everyone just freaked out at who they were dressed as.
Blake: Yeah, about that... they went out as Andrew and Ashley Graves.
Weiss: What are they from?
Ruby: Oh, a small little horror game.
Weiss: I lost to characters from a small game.
Blake: Oh, Weiss, you uncultured fool if only you knew the power those two had...
Weiss: What are you talking about? It's just a married pair.
Blake chuckled.
Weiss: What?
Ruby: Andrew and Ashley aren't a married couple (yet) they are siblings.
Weiss: Siblings? But the biting on the face...th-the hug!
Ruby: Incest is wincest. Don't ask me how. That is just how things are.
Weiss: in-in-in waaaht!?
Yang: Ooooh, Jaune and Neo did those two, huh...damn Blake, next year you and me are going as Len and Ren Kagamine to even the playing field.
Blake just had a nose bleed.
Weiss: Oh my God!
Ruby: Don't worry Weissy, we can go as Ben and Gwen from Ben 10.
Blake just passed out from the double nose bleed.
Weiss: I refuse to participate in your acts of DEPRAVITY!

Back home with Jaune and Neo.
Jaune: Satisfied?
Neo, now staring delightfully at the trophy look at Jaune with a smile.
Neo: Very.
Jaune: Great, well I'm going to go get some sleep. I'm beat.
Jaune walks up and gives Neo a kiss on the side of the head.
Jaune: Don't stay up too late admiring your glory.
Jaune then proceeded to head to bed, unaware of Neo's smirk as her mismatched eyes changed to full pink.
Jaune stepped out of the bathroom after cleaning up, sighing with a smile. He felt content knowing that Neo had a good time and he won a trophy with her.
???: Ooooh Jauney~
Jaune stopped in his tracks as their on the bed was Neo, whose body was covered. her hair, a mixture of black and pink as her choker was all that was visible to his eye as she looked at him with hungry eyes.
Jaune just smirked as he walked up to his Neo and cupped his finger around that choker.
I guess sleep wasn't coming tonight after all.

Most "Monty's vision of the story!" arguments fall kind of flat for me because his plans were probably fluid, I mean he literally put Neo in the series off of one cosplay he saw.
Even with Shane's letter, that talked a lot more about the way the show was made then the story itself, if that makes any sense? Like Shane talked way more about Monty's workflow and which drives he used then his story plans. Which makes sense he got other people to write the show for a reason, Monty wasn't a writer at least in the dialogue on a page sense.
Also Shane's letter doesn't mention Miles or Kerry by name.. ever i think? None of horrible things RT did in the letter sound like a thing M&K would be in the position to do or want to do. I don't like most of their writing decisions, but i doubt they would ever do something like saying Monty's own WIFE Sheena "had no business whatsoever with any part of RWBY" that sounds a lot more like a manger or something.
I think they stayed on because Monty trusted them with the writing and speaking up would have just gotten them replaced with people who probably wouldn't have even known Monty in all likelihood, and i don't blame them for that really. (TBH the more extreme hatred of M&K makes me uncomfortable sometimes, even if i have admittedly partaken in it myself on occasion)
I don't really know how to end this, so i hope at least Sheena is involved in whatever come next for RWBY!

RWBY Volume 9 Episode 10: Of Solitude and Self
i have thoughts. here are some of those thoughts.
I am going...to try and keep this in chronological order, but it's midnight, and I tend to ramble the longer I've been awake. So bear with me.
First off, okay, so we're definitely going to get details of exactly what happened with Summer later down the line. Presumably, she, Raven, and Qrow ('cause who else would Raven have portaled too yanno), along with maybe some others who knows, went on the offensive vs Mommy Salami and things didn't work out. If that's the case, boy does that color Qrow's character even further. It's no wonder he used to stay far away from the people he cares about. Also wow Raven nice to see you again, been a couple of volumes.
I'm glad that Rubes got to have a sort of posthumous pep-talk from her mother, even if it's something as simple as "I love you the way you are". I appreciate that she didn't need to be talk-no-jutsu'd into getting the theme of the volume, but rather it's a conclusion she came to herself. After a whole volume of seeing her all morose and depressed, it put the biggest smile on my face to see her finally accept that she is Ruby Rose, and that's all she's ever needed to be.
On a less profound note
WHOOOO RED LIKE ROSES PART III FUCK YEAH BABY THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT. Whoever animated that first little sequence of Ruby going ham on the cat with Crescent Rose? I want to kiss you. You deserve the world. Brings me right back to volume 1. (Was it Arryn? I feel like it was Arryn considering how much they love Soul Eater but I can't remember if they've done any combat sequences aaaah)
The Cat got the shit kicked out of them in a great team fight. Doing a whole ass 5 v 1, even with someone as formidable as the CC in the fray, couldn't have been easy to choreograph, so props to the whole team on that one for making it feel sick. The Cat is a bit of a more tragic character in retrospect with the tale the Blacksmith told (also--the Ever After is the primordial world? The Brothers didn't make it? Shit, color me surprised), but at the same time...yeah RIP Bozo.

The fuckin piano reprise of This Will Be the Day oh my GOOOOOD. Chills. The music in this volume has been absolutely phenomenal. Of course there are the vocal tracks, but the score??? Martin Gonzalez you beautiful man. Bless your heart, bless your body, bless your soul.
Neo. Neo Neo Neo. Neopolitan, baby girl...I'm gonna miss you, as I'm sure a lot of people will. Even the people who hate this show like you because you're just so much fun. I remember back in the day when I was a kid and unironically used the word waifu to describe female characters I was fixated on, you were my precious little Ice Cream Wife and I would burn the world for you. It's so weird thinking about your origins as a character (Inspired by a genderbent Torchwick cosplay, Monty threw you in at the last second in order to not have to animate Torchwick escaping...though I'm sure there's more to it than that), to how you've progressed, to where you are now. This is the last we're gonna get of you for now, I'm sure. But at the same time, I can totally see you showing up for the final fight vs Salem or Cinder or whoever to get your licks in. You were a welcome addition this volume, even if you DID drive Ruby to drink the Bad Tea. It's hard to hate you when you're so fucking cute.
I am...not going to pretend to not be a little disappointed that Boomer Jaune was but a temporary thing. When The Blacksmith was talking about Alyx fixing what she'd broken, I was expecting like, idk, his sword to be repaired, but I quickly realized that she wasn't even the one who did that, and then I was like "oh no" and before I knew it, BAM back at it again with the yee-yee ass haircut. At least next volume comes with new designs so we won't have to deal with that any longer. I appreciate the streaks of grey, symbolizing that it's not like he's regressed in any way, but...Jauney Boy, get that wolf's tail back. You rocked that shit.
That's all I can bring myself to write down for now. I'm sure I'll be talking about this episode--and this whole volume--for a WHILE. I'm gonna sit on it for a bit, but I think it might take volume 6's spot for my favorite of the bunch, which is impressive because volume 6 is hella good y'all. Thank you so much to the crew (GOD I hope certain people who worked on this volume return for the next one, I could feel the love they have for the craft and for this show and I've adored getting to see their thoughts on each episode as it aired these past few weeks) and everyone involved in bringing to us. It's been rough lately, that's for sure, but I mean it when I say that RWBY is one of my favorite shows out there, and I wish nothing but the best for its future and the future of everyone who brought it to life.
now I wait probably about a year or so to see Nora/Ren/Sun's reaction to Blake and Yang finally getting together. Until then, I will drown myself in fanfiction.

do you like Qrow and Raven's outfits design?
Qrow's outfit is great. Prime example of "not over-designing what works". A message the rest of outfit designs seem to not share (poor Weiss).
Raven's outfit is...complicated.
How do I put it...the more we saw of her the worse it looked.
And its not because the outfit is necessarily "bad". The outfit just feels pointless?
One of the aspects RWBY does (supposedly) is display a certain level of storytelling via outfit designs. Plenty of characters honestly just feel in line with contemporary fashion (in a good way) and those who don't tend to have specific reasons to. Ruby imitates Summer but also Qrow, Weiss is absolutely governed by colors and their influence (even if the show takes it to absolute opposite direction by dyeing her in blue for some reason), Yang and Raven's overall designs elicit similarities (and Yang's anger brings her design even closer to her mother's with red eyes), Jaune dresses like (his imagined) stereotypical "manly" corny Knight, etc. Cinder's outfit plays into her backstory. Qrow is dressed up like your average middle-aged dude with issues. At least before they went over-board with absolutely awful redesigns, Outfits would tend to speak for themselves and quite a few of them would tell a story.
What does Raven's outfit really tell us about her?
Why does she do the mask thing? Why does she have this elaborate battle armor thing if she is just bandit-ing around hiding FOR YEARS doing nothing? What do we know of Raven's backstory that justifies this get-up? Why does Raven dress in this specific way?
What about her sword? Why is it designed this way? Why does it elicit specific parallels to certain other weapons in design/power? Her introductory scene in V2 places emphasis on the weapon and even Neo feels threatened.
Her design can scream IMPORTANT, but We don't really get anything that would be important.
Add in the fact that overall model feels somewhat off (because most of them do), and by the time V5 rolls over it feels like she's just wearing a weird elaborate pointless cosplay.
That's what you get when you put the most mysterious character of the first three volumes into this battle armor, give her cool mask and sword and then spend volumes upon volumes of her being coward and "bandit" (the whole bandit tribe nonsense is one of biggest mistakes show ever did), as she just off-screen runs around aimlessly.
And that's REALLY sad because the color scheme is great, the sword is badass and the mask is REALLY COOL.
I am not a fan of the overall outfit itself that much, but it can work if she was a proper character. Alas.

Alright, that’s it. I can’t believe that’s it. Volume 9 is over. It’s been a hell of a ride. From meeting unforgettable characters to the bees finally buzzing, this volume has been a delight. From all kinds of moments, the good, the bad, the cathartic, the tear jerking, the relief, the comedic, and lots and lots of feels, we endured through it all. We grew along with these characters in what’d that are personal to each and all of us.
Thank you Volume 9.

Canon Questionnaire.
3. What’s the best thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?
A lot of people will tell you the one and only answer to this is "the fight scenes," and it's hard to disagree. Especially early on, the action scene choreography was a major draw to the show for people. However, this did fumble for a while with the tragic loss of show creator and lead animator Monty Oum, and while I never expected anyone to be able to fill his shoes- the man was a wizard I s2g- I do want to take the dip in quality for a while into account. They've absolutely improved since then, and I feel like he would be happy with the work the animators do.
Something that has been consistently great is the music. Jeff Williams was the lead producer on the soundtrack for volumes 1-8, with his daughter Casey(who was 13 when doing her first recordings for the show)often providing vocals. Lots of songs are told from the point-of-view of certain characters, and make for excellent storytelling tools in that regard, on top of just about every one of them being a bop/banger/jam/etc. Jeff retired from the show after volume 8, with Casey taking the reins for volume 9, and she continued to do an excellent job.
Lastly, I think something great about the show is just...that it's kept going. When Monty passed away shortly after volume 2 concluded, there was lots of concern about whether or not RWBY was going to continue. The crew ultimately decided that the show must go on, and I really admire that. Monty was their friend, and they didn't want his story to die with him. They've kept his world alive up to this point, and whether or not people think the show's quality is better or worse than it was when we had him, I feel like they've done their best with what they were left. People criticize changes they've made to the ideas he had, and while I don't think ALL of them are great, do people not understand that Monty himself would change shit up all the time? Hell, my muse's entire existence was a result of a snap decision he made. The RWBY he had in his head after volume 2 ended would not be the RWBY we have today even if he were still here, and it pisses me the hell off when people always attack the crew for not following his plan to the letter. As if THEY have any idea what his plan was- as if THEY were his personal friend and would be able to do the show so much better than the people whose help he sought out.
...Sorry for the tangent. I get passionate about that topic in particular.
12. What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?
Speaking of Neo's existence as mentioned before, I think that, from a meta perspective, is what's most unique about her. Her original design was based on a female cosplay of her boss, Roman Torchwick, and her Semblance was created solely for her first major scene so that Roman would have a means of escaping team RWBY. She was basically a last-minute addition Monty made, and yet has become such a fan favorite that she became the main antagonist of volume 9, and she and Roman have their own spinoff novel.
As a character, though, I think her most unique trait is how she expresses herself. Being actually physically mute requires her to be much more animated than the majority of the cast in order to get her point across. It does wonders to have her avoid the serious, stoic trappings that are so common in most characters that just prefer to be silent rather than having a disability. Her Semblance also helps her communicate through her own images rather than words, though I feel like that would be cheating to cite since it's not something a lot of universes with silent characters could do. Her physical demeanor, on the other hand, is something they COULD do but elect not to. It creates a wider pool of characters she's included with and makes her stand out more amongst them because of it.

She's 25 now like. she cosplayed multiple rwby characters. She dyed her hair to match neo like. lays on the floor. i hope her band does west coast tours wait actually its been awhile since i checked i wonder if they are
